It's finally midnight and the celebration has just begun.
"Someone please close the windows." Mrs Parker ushers the staffs from the side. It's starting to rain cats and dogs outside. I hand Clever over to Loona who then eyes me with confusion and worry.
"Are you okay? You look like you've seen a ghost."
I feel dizzy to be honest. You know that feeling when you're staring at a math question? No matter how hard you try, you just can't seem to get it which eventually causes a very bad headache? I feel like that right now if not worse.
"I'm fine. I just need to use the bathroom."
"Oh.. Okay. Don't take long."
Snatching a water bottle from the nearest table, I then excuse myself out of the venue. I don't know why I suddenly feel like suffocating in there. I reach the comfort room and switch the faucet on, splashing my face with water and in disregards of my make up. I was starting to feel cakey anyway so it doesn't matter. Then again, it's not like it did anything. They were water proof make up.
Another strike of pain courses through making me wince.
Abel. The moment his eyes met mine, I felt an odd strike, sharp, stronger than this, pricking my head. It wasn't a pleasant experience. If I hadn't caught myself, I would've fainted with Clever in my hold. Thank goodness that didn't happen. After staring at my reflection for god knows how long, I force myself to come back to reality.
A couple of knocks echo outside the ladies' comfort room. What happened back there was probably nothing. I don't feel anything now so maybe I was just imagining it. Yeah. Let's go with that thought.
"Oh, Daron. What are you doing here?"
"Are you okay?"
Do I look that bad for him to ask that? I nod my head, feigning ignorance to his genuine concern. Did he perhaps see me stagger on my way here? If so, that'll explain a lot why he's asking that. "We should head back to the party."
He follows behind me in silence. I can feel his stare drilling a hole in the back of my head. Quite unsettling if you ask me. Once we've reached the reception, every table's already busy downing on the main course. When it comes to the Parker family, it's a normal thing to have dinner at an unusual time. The massive cake's already standing under a spotlight, showcasing it's vibrant glory. Once Daron excuses himself, I take that as my cue to search for Loona. I find the said girl close to the buffet table but Clever's no where to be seen. Probably with his parents.
"Slow down or you might choke."
"Watching over that brat drained me. I need my fill." She ends her statement by popping a handful of cherries in her mouth.
I grab a plate and help myself with some sandwiches. The atmosphere's lively from how it was a few moments ago. Abel's standing beside his mother with a such pride sprawled over his face, contrast to how he looked prior. I was only gone for a few minutes but I feel like I've missed out on a lot.
"He found her." As if reading my thoughts, Loona gives me a respond. "But he won't tell me yet. He's been sly since then. I mean look at him. Smirking as if he's won a lottery ticket."
"Someone sounds jealous." I say in a teasing manner. Loona huffs her hair as she shoves a chunk of cake in her mouth.
"Bitter. Bitter, mind you El. I'm bitter since he won't tell me who it is." As if annoyed by the current topic, she shakes her head and flickers her eyes to collide with mine. "Anyway. What happened back there? You turned pale all of a sudden. You're not sick are you?"
I shrug my shoulders. "Just a mild headache."
Speaking of that mild headache, I close my eyes as I feel another arrow of electricity strike my head. Take a deep breath.
"Well, if it isn't the prince of the ball. Care to share who she is to your lovely cousin now?"
He hums, paying no attention to her whatsoever as he walks past her. "Yeah, soon. El, come with me. We need to talk."
"Can it wait? I'm still eating." My respond only makes Abel take another plate and fills them with one of each everything sitting on the table. Once the plate's unable to carry more, he grabs by wrist and drags me out of the room. Loona gapes her mouth open and close like a fish, surprised.
We pass through a hall until we've reached the furthest terrace within the building, far from the commotion of the party.
"Are you nuts? I can't be here. If auntie sees us she might misunderstand us you doofus."
Mrs Parker planned the confession scenario to be a romantic one. So while handling the whole reception's decorations and schedule, she hired someone to set up a little candle lit table where Abel's suppose to officially claim his mate.
He sets the plate down on the floor before running to the open terrace. Just a reminder though, it's freaking raining like haywire. Werewolf or not, if he keeps this up, he'll end up catching some type of fever. Just as I'm about to drag that boy bag inside, the laughter that comes from him halts me from getting any closer. He looks happy. It's been a while since I've last seen him laugh like that. Abel continues to dance in the rain like a little kid experiencing their first rain fall. It's a nice view to be honest.
"You're gonna get sick." I tell him with a worried frown as he gets back inside. An unexpected event takes place when he suddenly wraps his arms around me and twirls me around. Shrieking, I hold on to him for my dear life.
Please don't drop me.
I'll kill you if you do.
But most importantly, what is going on with him?
"You're perfect."
"Excuse me?'
"I said you're perfect."
I pull back to stare at his eyes. Something about the way he speaks now sounds different. It's nothing threatening or dangerous but I sends a shiver down my spine. It's not because of the rain.
He slowly sets me down before tucking a strand of my hair behind my ear. I watch him cautiously, unable to steer my gaze away from those crystal blue eyes fixated on me.
"You're perfect."
