Killian left… I can’t even go to the pack house and ask his brothers or sisters about him. I haven’t seen them in a while, and I am sure they hate me for how I treated their bigger brother. Killian’s sister is a year and a half younger than me, but she is trained at home because of her power. She sometimes comes to school, but from what I noticed, she doesn’t interact with anyone else. Her name is Lillian, I think.
The Luna and Alpha then had a pair of male twins, Kase and Jase. If I am not wrong, they are twelve. Later, they had another daughter, Arlen, who was eight. The pack thought that was it, but then they had triplets two years ago: Anika, Seth, and Jacob.
In total, Killian had seven siblings, a lot of you ask me. My mom and dad decided not to have more kids. They wanted to focus on my brother and me, especially me, because of the Moon Goddess's blessing.
“You remember what he said, right?” Linda whined.
I did, but I didn't want to think about it. The fact that he could cast a spell so powerful meant that he was a great mate for anyone. I would not feel if he cheated on me, and neither will he.
"He didn't say he would cheat; he said he was giving you the chance to have a normal life," Linda reminded me.
"I know, but if he decides to be with someone else, it wouldn't be anyone's fault but mine." I knew I couldn't blame him. My foolish behavior had damaged the bond.
I was in my room, waiting until my birthday knocked on the door. I was wearing a jacket Killian had given me long ago.
It was raining, and just my luck, I forgot my umbrella. I didn't want to get wet because today we were going to take a family photo, but for some reason, my stupid brother wasn't answering his f*****g phone. I had called him at least twenty times, but it went straight to voice mail. My mom always reminded me of taking an umbrella during this season, but I never listened to her.
I groaned in frustration; I guess I will have to get wet.
Before I could take a step forward, I felt a warm body behind me. The only person who gets this close to me is Killian, so I did not doubt that it was my mate.
“Are you okay, Jen?” He asked sweetly.
“Yes, Killian, don’t worry. I should go back home,” I said, trying to avoid looking at him in the eye.
I didn’t dare to turn around. My heart rate increased exponentially every time he went near me. He made my brain stop working, so I was glad I was able to form coherent words.
“You will get wet; let me take you home,” he said.
I bit my bottom lip. Should I go with him? I have tried to avoid him all this week because of what I heard, even moving away from the pack house, but somehow, he still finds me.
“He is our mate,” Linda reminded me.
“Not the mate I wanted,” I answered her.
“I don’t think it is a good idea,” I said to Killian, to which he turned me around by holding my waist.
My breath hitched at his proximity; I could feel the sparks everywhere he touched, even with clothing on.
“Look, let me take you home, and then you can pretend to hate me again. Can you do that?” he asked, his eyes pleading.
I sighed and looked around to see if there was someone else, but there wasn’t. I nodded, and he beamed at me. Such a simple interaction made him so happy. Why do I continue rejecting him?
"Because you are insecure about the bond," Linda growled. I know she was not happy with my decision to ignore Killian, but I had explained to her time and time again why I didn't feel comfortable.
"Please, take my jacket," He gave me a black leather jacket. It looked so warm, but I didn't want to have something that belonged to him. It reeked of his scent, making Linda crazy.
"Don't worry, I'm fine," I said.
"Jen, you are trembling; it is freezing outside. You can give it back tomorrow or give it to your brother," He smiled weakly at the last part. I nodded and grabbed the jacket from his hands.
I was supposed to return it, but I never could. I hid it in my closet in a box to prevent its scent from fading away. After a few months, I noticed that it stayed the same, so I assumed that Killian had put some spell on it. He knew I would not return it and was happy I didn't.
When the clock indicated midnight, I felt a horrible pain that made me scream. I didn't want to worry my parents, but it was too much for me to hold. Immediately, my door busted open, and Ian appeared. He looked around the room for any danger, but there was none. He then looked at me and saw me on the ground. I couldn't even remember when I had fallen; all I could think about was the immense pain that consumed my body.
"Sis, what is happening?" My brother asked.
"I don't know, it hurts a lot," I scrunched my heart and squeezed my eyes shut.
"Damn it, what a minute," he ran outside my room while my parents entered.
"Honey, take deep breaths; those are distance pains," my mother explained.
Being away from my mate hurts this much? f**k!
"Why doesn't Ian experience them when he leaves?" I asked.
Anne was older; she was the one who told Ian they were mates, but that meant that when Ian went on a mission or things like that, she must have felt the pain.
"Are you sure they are not cheating pains?" My dad asked.
I could feel tears forming in my eyes. Was Killian cheating on me?
"No, they aren't; first of all, that kid would never cheat on Jen, and secondly, she is blessed; she isn't supposed to be far away from her mate, that is why they hurt so much," my mom calmed my father.
They both tried to get me to breathe to alleviate the pain. Where the hell did Ian go?
"Got it! He yelled as he got closer to me. He had a rectangular, black velvet box. When he opened it, I saw the most beautiful necklace ever. "I would love to let you admire it, but I can't,"
Ian grabbed the necklace and put it on my neck. As soon as it touched my skin, the pain subsided.
"What did you do?" I asked Ian.
"This was a gift from Killian; he wanted me to give it to you. He said it will help with the distance pains," Ian said.
My parents looked relieved, but I wasn't. Will he experience the same pain I did?
I felt hollow inside like a piece of me was missing. His scent, coming from the jacket, hit me like a train. My mouth watered as Linda became crazy inside my mind. I was wrong if I thought I was attracted to him because of the bond. This is so much worse. I needed to find him, to mark him. My gums tingled at the thought of piercing his skin.
I grabbed Ian by the neck and looked at him in desperation.
"You need to tell me where he is," I implored, but my brother shook his head to the sides.
"I can't, sister. I love you, and I don't want you to suffer, but he has fought this desire for years, and you only want him because this is new to you. Give yourself time to accept the bond because if you go to him, he won't let you go, and you may regret it later," Ian tried to reason with me, but my instincts were the only thing controlling me now.
"Silvia! I am here; where are you?" Aunt Esmeralda's voice came from downstairs.
"I'm in Jennifer's room!" My mom answered her.
Esmeralda entered my room and looked around; when she found me, she looked me up and down. What was she looking for?
"She seems fine to me," Esmeralda said.
"Ian helped her. Apparently, Killian knew this would happen. But she does need help with something else," My mom told Esmeralda.
"That kid has always been too smart for his age. Anyhow, what do you need my help with? You do know it is the middle of the night,"
Help, I don't need help. I need my mate. Esmeralda can probably take me to where he is.
I let go of Ian and ran to her, but before I could touch her, she lifted her hand, and I couldn't move anymore.
"I see; her wolf is trying to take control because of the mate bond. Allow me to help," I didn't like what she was implying, so I growled dangerously.
"Let. Me. Go," I made it clear that I was mad. They didn't let me see my mate; I only needed Killian.
"Can't do sweetheart. So now," she snapped her fingers, and darkness consumed me.

Killian's POV
I didn't want to leave Jennifer, but after what happened, she clearly hated me. I had to process everything she said and calm my wolf down. Apolo was enraged; he wanted to come out and claim Jennifer right on the spot. That is why I teleported to my room and grabbed my things. My mom came and asked me what happened, but before I could answer, she already knew—the perks of having a mom that can read minds. I sometimes wish I had that power, but I don't. It seems it is something only she has.
She told me she would talk to Jennifer but that I had to leave. She explained that after she turns eighteen, it will most likely be that our wolves will try to find each other. Because of how much she has strained our mateship they are eager to mark each other. She also gave me something to help with the pain and the need to come here to see my mate. I was the one who could teleport or portal to everywhere I wanted, so she reminded me that this was good for Jen and me. She needed time to accept the bond, and I needed to control my Lycan.
I said goodbye to Dad and my siblings, and then I left. Alaska was cold as hell. I teleported myself just outside the skirts of the pack. My Uncle Alex and Aunt Kailee joined his pack with the Polar Bears. They asked my mom for a small favor, which consisted of creating a portal so they could go back and forth. When I reached the border, one of the wolves approached me.
"Oh! Hi, Killian. It's nice to see you here." I looked at the man before me and recognized him as one of the wolves I had trained with.
"Hey, Thomas, why are you here?" He belonged to another pack, so it was weird that he was here.
"I found my mate, and you won't believe it!" He said happily. It stung a bit because I was away from mine, but I quickly hid that pain. "She is a polar bear!" He beamed.
"Really? That is awesome; I am happy for you," I said.
"You came here to train?" He asked me, and I nodded.
"Well, that means you need to go to the house ASAP,"
"Yes, I know, don't worry. If you could please inform the Alpha and Luna, I would be grateful," His eyes hazed, and he let me in.
Everyone knew that Alpha Alexander and my dad were great friends, so I knew most of his pack members, including some Polar Bears. I got to the house quickly and noticed that Aunt Kailee was waiting for me.
"Hello, Killian. Thank you so much for coming here." Beside her was a beautiful young lady. She had the same white-silver hair Kailee had, with green eyes. Was she her daughter?
"Hello aunt, hello miss?" I asked.
"Oh! Yes, sorry, you don't know each other. This is my daughter, Hope," She said.
What? Since when does she have another daughter? And why does she have a black mark over her neck that looks like a tattoo and a mating mark at the same time?
