Alessandro was driving us to meet my mom, and I felt a knot tightening in my stomach with every mile we covered. The scenery outside the window seemed to blur as my thoughts raced. "Are you nervous?" he asked, glancing at me briefly before turning his attention back to the road. "Yes, I am," I admitted, my voice barely above a whisper. I kept my gaze fixed on the passing trees and buildings, trying to distract myself from the whirlwind of emotions. "Don't worry so much; Mom won't pressure us," Linda said. "I understand.
