Chapter 6

785 Words
Samika's POV "Oh so you found yourself some poor friends now?" Dad asks me as he slowly walks towards me with a smirk on his face. I know he is talking about Cassandra. And I feel too embarrassed to look at her right now. "Dad, not here. Not now" I tell him as I subtly shake my head but he is already standing before me. "What are you even doing here? In a place like this?" He asks as he takes another look around the complex, as if he wasn't here before me and this was his first time seeing this place. "I could be asking you the same," I shrug. Because as much as I was a sucker for luxury, so was he. "Oh! I am buying this entire building and turning it into a mall," he says and that makes sense. "Oh sorry! I forgot you wouldn't do anything else if it's not business. Oops. My bad," I say and his smirk only grows as he takes a step forward. I don't budge but Cassandra tries stepping in. I held her hand that made her stop and watch my dad and I just glaring at each other. "This attitude, this suits you" he says. "Yes. Because I didn't get this from you," I say back and Cassandra tries stifling her laughter and terribly fails making my dad give her a look and then back at me. "So your mom told you?" He asks, taking a good step back. "She told me what she needed to say. Happy divorce, daddy. Hope you at least be nice to your w****s," I say and walk away without turning back. Only once Cass and I enter a random store, I release a heavy breath making her chuckle. "That douche is actually your dad?" She asks me and I just nod. "I am sorry he called you poor. He just doesn't know-" "Chill. Moreover that's what we are lol. The economy of the pack is just downhill," she says as she slants her arm downwards and I don't ask her anything anymore. We are on human lands and we need to act like we are humans and not an Alpha and a Gamma Female. Cass and I take a bunch of everything. Jeans, tops, dresses, sleepwear, active wear, hair accessories, lingerie.. you name it! We literally spent almost half the savings on Devon's card. Cass kept telling me that Devon is the only richest in the pack since he is the Alpha's son and even Jerome's savings are now added. I want to empty Jerome's savings. I don't know why. Cass and I grab food through Wendy's drive in. She kept saying it was the best burger she has ever eaten and I wonder what she has to say when she eats a McDonald's one. On the way back to the pack, Cass takes it on her to initiate the conversation. "Why do you like Nyle?" She asks me and I just chuckle. "I don't know. I love him," I tell her and she nods. "But Devon is your mate, right?" She asks and this time, I nod in agreement. "Then what are you going to do now? Nyle or Devon?" She asks me again and I rake my mind on how to tell her. "I think we three need to sit and talk about it. Nyle gave up searching for his mate because he fell in love with me. He was ready to get shunned by his pack. I can't backstab him just because I found out Alpha's son is my mate," I tell her. Cass doesn't say a word again and we get back to pack. "Don't tell anyone about my encounter with my father," I tell her and she laughs. "Girl I promise you, if Devon knows someone is treating you this way he is going to march over there and skin them alive. Not even joking," she says and I look at her in confusion. "I don't know if you see it or not, but everyone in the pack does. Devon was someone who never listened to anyone until you came. He now listens only to you. He looks at you with hearts in his eyes. He is a different Devon that we are all seeing," Cass tells me. And I try my best not to think of it more. Because the mate bond is seemingly doing a few things I don't feel good about. All I want to do is find Nyle, make him sit and talk about things. Once I give the pack back to Devon, I am going to leave with Nyle. That's what I choose. That's what I want. Ultimately.
