chapter five: mate

1090 Words
After taking Sophia to her room and laying her on her bed, King Theodore left her to rest and entered his chambers. A tired sigh and yawn escaped his lips as he took off his shirt and lied down on his bed. His chambers were King worthy. Two doors that led one to the bathroom - that was as large as a regular bedroom - and the other led to his walk-in closet which was as big as the bathroom. His walls were painted light grey while his bed and furniture are black-coloured. His curtains are golden. A beautiful golden carpet decorates the middle of the floor and his crown is placed on his bedside in a box that can only be opened by the King himself. He ran a hand through his golden hair and sighed. He couldn't sleep when he knew that his mate was in another room and didn't want anything with him. He wasn't a terrible King, at least not as awful as his father was. His father only cared for the money he owed, not for Kingdom and family and that made Theodore promise that he would be the opposite of his father. He would be a better King for all the supernatural creatures that lived on this planet! Before he knew the sun was up and he had stayed awake the whole night. Getting out of bed, he brought another change of clothes with him in the bathroom and took the rest of the clothes he was wearing. It was at least six or seven o'clock in the morning and he had a meeting with Alpha Jackson at nine so he better hurry as he wanted to check on his mate too. Letting the hot transparent liquid fall on him, he sighed in relief. This was the only time of the day where he could relax and think. He needed to make Sophia trust him if he wanted her not to reject him. No, no rejection. No more rejections in my life. Stepping out of the shower, he put on some black pants and a white button-up. With black shoes and his crown in his hand, he walked out of his room and into the dark hallways of the royal family. Four rooms were occupied at the moment. The King's, the Prince's, the Queen's and her brother's. Theodore didn't think it was fair for his brother to be just the Prince as he was the Alpha and the King, so he made him the Beta of his pack too. He passed his brother's room and Marcus' too and knocked on his mate's chambers. No reply came. He decided against going inside as she's probably sleeping. She did sleep at one o'clock he thought as he walked into the kitchen. Every pack member that was inside wished him good morning and smiled at him. He smiled back. He was glad that no one was bowing as he had ordered them not to. Demetri sat down next to him and smiled at his older brother. "Morning Theo" Theodore rolled his eyes at the nickname but didn't say anything about it. He nodded and continued to silently eat his breakfast - and omelette and sausages. He drank some of his orange juice and looked up when the door to the large kitchen opened. Marcus and Sophia walked inside hand in hand. Sophie hid behind her brother and smiled slightly at the pack warriors who bowed down and gave her their wishes and smiles. She told them to rise - she didn't like formalities. The other wolves looked at her confused... They still didn't know. They sat down in the only empty seat which happened to be next to Demetri and Theodore. Their breakfast soon was served and they ate as quietly as they came. "How did you sleep?" the King asked, looking at his beautiful mate. Sophie smiled slightly at him, trying to be polite. "Okay, I guess" He nodded, not sure of what else to say. Well, his brother did. "So, when is Sophia's coronation going to be? Before or after the ball?" Demetri questioned, making Marcus look up from his breakfast. Sophia chocked on her omelette and the King patted her back softly. "Coronation?" Marcus asked, glaring at the King who dismissed his glare and titled his head to the right. "Demetri" he gave his brother a look and he nodded "Marcus can we talk outside for a moment?" the Grace boy nodded "Thank you" While Theodore and Marcus were outside discussing, Demetri looked over at his brother's mate and smirked. "So, why were you running into the wood this time?" Sophia turned her body so she could face him. Her mind was racing with so many thoughts that she couldn't focus on him. She pleaded him to repeat that and he gladly did after he laughed of course. "Running away from that grey wolf... He was probably from your pack but we were in the woods because that's what we're doing our whole lives" she smiled sadly, looking down at her plate. She sniffed, she never got to have a normal life. She wanted that. "And why is that?" she looked up and shook her head and blinked away the tears. "Because of me" "What do you mean?" But before she could explain anything else, a red-headed girl walked up to them. "Hey, bestie"  she then noticed Sophia smiling at her. "Hello Luna" she bowed but Sophie told her to rise immediately to which she looked confused. "Hello, I am Sophia" she smiled, shaking her hand. She had red hair and bright green eyes. She was wearing some jean shorts and a green shirt that made her eyes pop. She was a pack warrior as Demetri said and a very good one may I add. "Pleasure to meet you, I am Artemis... Yes, after the moon goddess" Marcus and Theodore walked inside at that moment and Artemis' head snapped at their direction. Her eyes widen and turned amber as she watched them walk towards them. "Artemis? You're alright?" She didn't answer as she stood face to face with Marcus. Sophia looked at the King with a curious look on her face. Theodore moved closer to her and grabbed her hand. "Don't say anything" Marcus didn't take his eyes off of her too. She was a natural beauty. Everything about her was perfect. His eyes widen at her words and everyone stopped talking and looked at their direction, smiling or smirking. Some even clapped. "Mate."
