chapter four: flashback

"Run Sophia, run". The thirteen-year-old girl didn't have to be told twice as her brother grabbed her hand and took off running. There was something behind them, chasing them. She only saw that it was big and black. It could be a bear or a panther... Or a wolf. She was petrified, she hasn't been chased by an animal yet - only wizards and warlocks. "What is that thing, Marcus?" she panted while trying to catch up with her brother but he was a lot faster. His hand gripped hers but he didn't answer. He only told her to be quiet as he would find them easily if their talking. He knew that eventually, the wolf would catch up with them. He could smell them, he could hear their heartbeats and he definitely was a lot faster. Marcus knew that the crossed the King's territory, the moment he saw the guards. They were the biggest wolves he had ever seen. Alpha Matthew's pack wolves were smaller than them but still built. Alpha Jackson's were actually bigger than Matthew's but smaller than the King's wolves. Alpha James' pack was the same size as Alpha Jackson's. His pack territory was the East side of the Kingdom of the werewolves' territory while Alpha Matthew's territory was the West. Alpha Jackson was in the Southside of the Kingdom and the King's side was the North! The witches lived between the South and East, angels lived among and between the North and South and the vampires lived at the unclaimed land of the wolves - also known as the dark woods (between West and North). "We just have to get out of his territory" he looked behind them and was relieved that he saw no wolf there. "Keep running, Soph" "I can't... I can't run anymore" she panted and her brother swore, he stopped running. Sophia hit his back with a huff and fell on the ground, hitting her butt. A growl was heard and her eyes widen when she saw the black wolf in front of her. At that moment, Sophia thought she was going to die by a wolf. She was happy that the witches didn't find them but she was so scared of dying. Would it be quick or a slow painful death? And then, her and the wolf locked eyes. Its eyes were a beautiful shade of blue. They darkened a little but soon enough, her brother grabbed her hand and started chanting Latin. "Stay away from her" he knew the look their faces held and he didn't like it one bit. He placed her behind him and with a blink of an eye, they were gone. Sophia gasped as she woke up from her slumber. Her hand flew up to her heart and breathed heavily. She looked around the room until her eyes met his blue ones. "Are you alright?" he asked, moving closer to grab her hand. She pulled her hand closer to her and moved away from him. She shook violently, she was afraid of him. "Why are you here?" she asked, not bothering to answer his question. He didn't seem to be bothered by her harsh tone as he placed his hand on her forehead. "Your burning... And sweating. Let me take you to the pack doctor" he pleaded, his eyes held something that she couldn't understand. That's until his face held a blank expression again and he pointed towards the door. She nodded, getting out of the bed that is supposed to be hers now. Sophia had spent the rest of the day with her brother. She kept complaining over the fact that she was mated with the King but eventually grew tired and Marcus put her to bed. The KIng hasn't left her side since. He grabbed her hand but she was quick to take it out of his hold. She wanted nothing to do with him. He sighed but told her to follow him as he walked out of her room and into the large hallway. She hugged the jacket she was wearing when she woke up tighter to her body. It was cold in the hallway. He passed all the important rooms such as his room, the Princes' room (and his mate probably), the throne room, the living room and stopped in front of a wooden door. He opened it after he knocked and heard something mutter "come in"  from inside. A middle-aged man appeared with a needle in his hands. "King, Queen" he bowed but Theodore was quick to tell him to get up. He explained to the doctor the problem while Sophia was shocked by his previous action. Queen? That's what she is now? A queen? But she was no royal. She was a fugitive. She was chased by witches and warlocks because she was a witch with no powers - a mortal. "Follow me, please," the doctor said and walked inside a room. Theodore stopped in front of it and gestured her to walk inside first. Sophia nodded once before listening to his command. She sat on the bed, the doctor told her to and watched silently as he talked with her King. "Hello, Luna. I am the pack doctor of this pack. My name's Christian McCollum. Do you feel pain or something?" Sophia shook her head - no - and watched as he wrote it down to a paper. "Do you feel hot?"  she shook her head again and decided to speak as she wanted to know what's wrong with her. "I woke up feeling hot and sweating but I am perfectly fine now" she stated, looking down when she noticed him staring at her. "You're okay, Luna... Uh, Queen. Yeah, well it was probably because of the dream you had. It scared you or something important happened and you just sweated from terror." he then told her what to do "Just try to relax and have a good night sleep" "Did you have a nightmare or a dream?" was the next question but Christian wasn't the one that spoke but Theodore. She shyly looked up and met his beautiful blue orbs. "I remembered the day we first met"
