I chose to be quiet for a while.
I didn't know what should I feel, should I be angry or nervous, or both. But one that I was sure of, I didn't feel any excitement to see Cris and I didn't feel the pain of his rejection anymore.
“Ash? What do you think; we'll go there or not?” I asked my inner wolf, Ash. I wanted her opinion too since we are one.
“Please, let's go there,” Ash said and I was a bit surprised at what she said.
“Are you sure? Do you want to see him?” I asked her again to be sure of what she felt or she still felt the same toward that man.
“It's not about Cris. I don't know,” and she paused for a second, “but I have this feeling that I have to go there, or we have to. Please, let's go there before it's too late. Let's go tonight.'" I heard the panic in her voice, she wanted to go there and I couldn't say no to that.
“Okay. If that's what you want.” I just sighed. But I was okay with it because I sensed it too, like someone pushing us to go there. I'll be there for a job, which was to make everyone safe, so that's enough reason why should I accept this mission.
I didn't say anything yet and looked at their faces. I wanted to laugh because of the different emotions they were showing. One second they were a concern, change to anger, and then they gave me a small smile to convince me. They think I was mad. "Okay. Let's go this afternoon. If it is fine for all of you, we will go."
They were all surprised when I agreed on it. Without making any scene that I didn't want to be there, or worst rejecting the mission. They couldn't believe I'll agree, and that made me want to laugh but I held it back.
"What? Why are you all looking at me like that?" I asked them all with my poker face.
"You're not going to freak out or maybe, get angry?" Drea reacted first with still the same expression.
"Why should I do that? Even Ash, she wants to go now." I answered and I looked at them one by one. "What? Are you just gonna stare at me all day? Why don't all of you prepare your things?" I told them as I stood up and ready to leave but I stopped because I forgot to tell them something. "Prepare the children things too because they're coming with us. I have this feeling that it will take longer than to our previous missions." I told them in command, and I stared at Elder Crain. "Elder, if I am right, there's an Elder House there for us to stay? Can we stay there?" I told him more than a question. I didn't want to live with the persons who hurt me.
"There is. I'll just be going to give you the key before you leave. I'll prepare the jet for you to use, so, you will arrive there early than the schedule." I just nodded and smiled before leaving them in the room.
12 o'clock in the afternoon we had our flight. We were already in the sky, flying with Elder's big jet. Just like what I said earlier, the children came with us and I didn't know why I let them. Even I knew I might put them all in danger. But I didn't want to leave them behind too; I felt we will stay there longer.
Our flight will only take an hour, so no one chose to sleep. Dael was practicing her power which is the fire, and with the help of Cato's power, he enclosed Dael in an airball for our safety. While Sandra was studying anatomy. I didn't know about these children why they were so focused on studying and training. They were so young for those things but they were so genius, so there's no problem with that.
I was in the backseat. I felt so excited and I didn't know why.
When we left, I didn't get a chance to say goodbye to Uncle Marcos since they already left earlier than us, according to them.
I looked at them once again. I saw the happiness in their eyes. Vince and Drea having their lovey-dovey moment while Cato attending to their son, Dael---half-alien, and half-werewolf. He's just turning three but he already practiced his power, for him have great control over it as he grows up.
Sofia and Drew were just looking at their princess. They just smiled will looking at how adorable she is.
I was so happy just watching them. The families in front of me were the family I have and I'll protect them. No one could harm or take them away from me. No one can destroy our family. I knew they feel the same way too.
I smiled with those thoughts and just read the report again.
In no time, our one hour trip was over. Now, another hour for the land travel using the van which is also owned by the Elders. We will drive at the Elders House first before going into the Dark Moon Pack. I already read the report, and I understood and knew what I needed to. There was nothing new in their place, and as what I'd known, Cris was already the Alpha. His Luna was still the girl who bullied me, Trina. As the report said, 5 people were already missing. I didn't know what happen to them that they became so weak. I knew they were all good fighters before.
The trip was taking us so long, so I just talked to Ash. “Ash? Are you sure we should go there right now? Can't you wait until tomorrow?” I was really curious for the reason that she's persistent ongoing. I was already dizzy since she couldn't stop walking inside my head. I didn't want to block her, I always needed her presence with me even she's just sleeping.
“Yes, please! Let's just go there. I have this feeling that if it will take too long, I will lose someone important. I don't know what it is. But... it just…” She couldn't understand what she was feeling, just like mine. I sensed it too, so we needed to go there.
"How much longer before we arrive at our destination?" Cato asked annoyingly. My eyes fixed on him, looked like he feels what I and Ash felt. We just kept quiet and looked at him and he was making some outburst.
I didn't mind his tantrums and just looked on the road. Maybe half an hour passed, finally, we stopped in front of the big house. We didn't say a word and just got out of the car. We looked for our room and left our bags everywhere. But my guts saying, I should take a shower, so I took one quick shower. I changed my clothes in the fastest way possible.
Afterward, I ran fast downstairs because they might only wait for me. But children were still not there yet, they changed their clothes because they were wet with sweat.
I chose to sit down on one of the chairs. But I was not comfortable with the stare they gave me, they were teasing me. They thought I was doing it all for Cris? I didn't have time for their childish act, so I just let them be.
I decided to leave them and just wait in the car. I took a deep breath to calm my nerves and fast-beating heart. I was nervous, and I needed to control it.
I didn't wait too long before they joined me inside the car. I even saw Cato a little nervous too. "Hon, are you okay?" Vince asked his mate, concerned.
"I'm okay. But I have this feeling, nervous? I'm not sure, but it's not in a bad way." Just like what I thought, we felt the same.
30 minutes later, we arrived at the front gate. I missed the smell of the place, especially the smell of the pine trees planted in the driveway.
Our driver opened the window on his side. He gave the pass given by our Elder to the guard. Minute later, they let us in without looking at what's on the inside of the car, and it was good.
It was only three in the afternoon and the sun was still so hot outside, a perfect time for our arrival.
We arrived at the front of the pack house. Many people were in front of the pack house, and in front of them is their alpha, Cris Brook.
I knew that they will know me because of my scent even I covered my face. I still wore my eyeglasses and hood when I’m outside, that I will do in here too. I didn't want my enemy to know my face especially my mom's murderer.
My companion was already outside. Cato was the one who talked to them. He didn't have a sensitive nose like us but he could feel auras. When his outside I saw his reaction, his eyes became big, his breathing labored, and his freaking out. So, I didn't have any choice but to go out too and face them.
I sniffed the surrounding, and I smelled the sweetest scent of all, vanilla.
I looked for it; Ash became crazy in my head. I followed the scent while my friend gave way for me. Until I stopped in front of Cris, and that was when my eyes got bigger than it's usual.
The scent was all over him as I walked all around him. I knew it was not his scent but it was on him. Until I saw scattered dots of blood on his shirt. I held and sniffed it. The owner of the blood was the owner of the scent I was looking for.
He snatched the clothes that I was holding. "You freak. You didn't change, do you? Maybe, you just beg them to let you join them here. Or you just want to see me?" He said with a cocky grin smirk on his face.
I ignored his insult and just thought whose blood was on his shirt. Why it was lingering all over him? Until, a conclusion came into mind... and I wished I was wrong, or I might kill him.
But when I thought more about it, anger rising inside of me; my eyes changed its color. "We came here on behalf of the Elders. I want to see your hostage." I said with an emotionless face.
He smirked. "Why would I tell you?" He was still mocking me.
I sniffed the surrounding. I could follow the scent if I wanted to but the territory was not mine. I still have some respect.
I also saw Cato wanted to go inside and looked for something. Even me, there was an urge for me to go there. My breathing got labored.
"Just please, tell us where the hostage is. So we can go home already." Vince said while hugging his mate with the help of Drea to calm his down. Sofia went near me with Sandra.
"Tsk! Follow me.” Cris said as if he didn't have a choice, and he didn't.
That's when we bumped into Luis. "Oh, the trash is here. Why? Are you struggling with being alone?" He grinned and he came near me where I standing when I stopped walking. "And what are you wearing? You looked uglier than you already are. Tsk! Tsk! Tsk!" He said with a smirk. I wanted to pass him and just pretend I never heard anything. But he wanted to touch my butt, lucky me because of my reflexes, I held her arms before it happens. I twisted his arm to the back.
"No one can ever dare to touch me again," I said with no expression.
I let him go and he massaged his arms that I twisted. I left him with my piercing stare and followed my companions. I heard him whispered something but I didn't give him s**t.
I was the last one to enter the room. When I came in, I saw Cato hugging the body. I couldn't see it clearly because of the bodies in front of me.
I tried to pass by them by pushing them a little. Ash was jumping inside my head, pushing me to come closer.
When I was already in front of all these people, I couldn't take my eyes off on what I was looking for or rather a person I was watching. I walked nearer to them. The scent was so intoxicating for me, in a good way.
Oh, it's a woman! The time she opened her eyes, I saw her mesmerizing beautiful violet orbs.
Ash was jumping and running much more inside my head chanting-
Mate. Mate. Mate.
"Mate," I growled.
Yes! It's my mate and it's a girl.
