Chapter 18

"it makes sense, man," R mutters. "Stormie did die. You felt the connection." I nod and look at R's sour face. "You even cheated on Stormie with her." I shake my head and sigh. It's no secret R loves Stormie. He was the first to meet her in fact. When she applied for a citizenship in this pack, I granted it, but R was the one to meet her at the border when she crossed it the next day. He helped her move and they had dinner together. My blood boils knowing they would have slept together if she wasn't saving herself for her mate. I had seen and claimed her the day after, but it took a week for R to tell me the truth about his feelings. He confessed he was in love with her after such a short time, but would never try to take her from me. In fact, I let him spend a lot of time with her for that very reason. He's in love with her, so he wouldn't ever let anything happen to her and he wouldn't dare ruin her mate Bond. Having him remind me I cheated on Stormie with my second chance mate turns my mood even further down south. It feels like he's saying I should give Stormie up and let him have her. He'd like that, but I know he'd never say it or do it. He's too faithful. Too true. Too honest. Too kind. All words Stormie uses to describe him. I used to live in fear that if the mate bond didn't exist, Stormie would be with him. I try not to think about that now though. I don't want to lie to my mate, but I'm afraid she won't forgive me. "This stays between us," I decide. "I'll send Rachel away. I'll reject her and everything will go back to the way it was." R nods in agreement and wishes me luck. Walking back to my office, I face my mistake of a mate and stare coldly. "I Alpha Raganar reject you Rachel as my second chance mate." Tears leak from the woman's eyes, but considering her reputation, I decide not to care. She was kicked out of two other packs and it must have been e been the mate-bond wanting me to give her a chance. I refuse. Ten minutes later, I get a mindlink that she's been escorted off pack grounds and I can finally relax. Deciding I've had enough stress for the day, I forget work and walk back upstairs. Stormie's probably still in bed and I can't wait to cuddle back up with her. My sweet mate. When I reach my room, I'm disappointed to see she's not in bed, so I check the bathroom. No. Downstairs? No. I check every level and when I come up empty handed, I begin to panic. Sending out a mind link, I wait five minutes until everyone has checked everywhere. Nothing. With fear and worry in my heart, I stomp to the ground floor and find the surveillance room. Checking the hall camera outside our room from when I woke up, I wait six minutes to see Stormie walk out in her small tight PJs. Beautiful. Switching cameras four times, I see her come to a stop in front of my office. She looks through the open door and freezes before touching her hand to her throat and leaning her weight against the wall. She covers her mouth before shaking her head and running down the hall. Did she see? A moment later, R stops by and comes in, so I know Stormie witnessed my infidelity. How could i- stupid! I bang my fist against the screen and it shatters. Ignoring the blood on my hand, call together search parties to scour the woods. She can't have gotten further than... 80 miles. Stupid werewolf speed. Mind liking the warriors, I sent one ferocious command. "FIND THE LUNA!"
