Elyes
The waiting for nightfall was excruciating. I had always been a patient person, but since my mind couldn´t stop thinking about the purple-haired she-wolf, I became more restless. It was like something was bubbling inside me with excitement wanting to be released and my head was pounding as I watched the clock ticking.
The boy, Lucas, was sleeping, but soon I would have to wake him up. I had decided to save his life. I knew that once my master returned, finding what he was looking for nothing good awaited for him. Even though I never cared about any other of the hybrids, this one seemed different. I didn´t know why, but suddenly I felt guilty and wrong. It was like my conscience woke up after years of sleeping, forcing me to do what I had planned.
I felt an undeniable urge to help the boy and even more to see the she-wolf. I wanted her. That I was sure of. I didn´t know what kind of magic she used on me, but I needed to find out and break it, so I would be free. I couldn´t be lusting for a werewolf.
This was it. I had made my decision. Returning the little boy to his parents and then disappearing forever, living a peaceful life empty of killing and fighting. I knew what my decision meant. I could never return to the coven. I would be considered a traitor. I would be on the run for the rest of my life and if master ever found me, he would probably kill me without any regret.
I knew the risk, but still I was willing to risk it all. Our escape was set, and I had already checked the route many times. Getting out of the coven would be challenging, but with the master out and the rest sleeping or having free time, I didn´t predict any problems.
Unfortunately, I couldn´t say the same about getting into the pack without leaving a trace. Once I leave the coven without master´s consent, my connection would break, letting him know immediately that someone had escaped and was no longer under his leadership.
He could try and use a locating spell to find my exact position, even though his connection to me would be weaker. He was still a great warlock, very powerful and extremely skilled. I brewed my best covering potion and I would have to use it periodically trying to minimize the connection and impact of the locating spell.
We would have to be on move and leave traces behind to confuse the ones following us, but I had potions prepared. The only thing that was bothering me was the betrayal of my master. The person who saved my life, but I was done being his little obeying soldier. I wanted to live my own life. I couldn´t stop the nagging inside me telling me that this was right. That I should go and find the she-wolf, Maeve, but I couldn´t. It wasn´t right.
On one side I desired her like no one else ever before, but on the other side she could be my doom. I could never get attached to anyone. I could never love again. I was a cold and detached person.
Sitting inside my room and meditating, gathering as much power as I could and waiting for the right opportunity to set the plan in move. Midnight was the time when the magic was the most powerful, so I had to wait a little bit before the peak would reach its weakest point, which would be around two o´clock.
So, when the clock finally hit two hours after midnight, I stood up taking my cloak where I had a few important things I needed for escape and survive. I slowly and quietly made my way towards Lucas´s room, opening the door and covering him with the blanket that would mask his scent and magical aura. I had drunk a potion that was masking my own magical aura so no one would sense me going to the border.
I took the boy into my arms and carried him out of the mansion through the back door and right to the forest. I was taking the most covered route where trees were thick that even the moon shining above my head didn´t pass through. I walked silently, the only noise that could be heard was the rustling of the branches and leaves under my feet. The wind blowing around was covering the noise as I continued to walk through the dark forest and closer towards the border of the coven where the barrier was pulsing with energy.
I put the boy´s sleeping body down and coming carefully closer to the barrier. I lifted my hand and felt the power surging towards me as I started to murmur the spell weakening the perfect spot I picked a few days ago. I watched as the spell gained power and then the red light of my magic grew bigger and bigger. When the size was satisfactory, I shot the burning fire magic towards the spot seeing as it was absorbed by the barrier before it cracked.
The sound was a little bit louder than I predicted but the silence of the night wasn´t disrupted. There in front of my eyes, the hole in the barrier was big enough to move through. I had to work fast lifting the boy´s body. I turned him around and threw him as gently as I could through the hole. He landed on the other side with a thud. Then, I prepared myself and jumped through the hole, myself feeling the barrier touching my shoulder and burning my skin.
Right after I stood up from the ground, the electrocuting sensation went through me making me fell down on my knees as the waves of agonizing pain shot up and down my body. After what felt like hours, but was just a minute or two, the pain stopped and I was able to get up and move.
The connection was broken. I was a free wizard. Traitor of the coven. I could never come back here again.
I looked back behind me seeing the darkness of the forest as the barrier closed itself to me again not revealing what was covered. I sighed and looked at the direction where Lucas was lying seeing that he was awake watching me with scared eyes.
"Come on Lucas!" I told him waving my hand, "You are going home," I announced, seeing as his eyes lighted, but then turned to suspicious.
"Why should I believe you?" he asked me holding the blanket.
He had a point. I admired his strength. For such a small child, he was resilient and very smart.
"You shouldn´t," I told him honestly, "But now I am the only chance you have to go home. So, are you coming or not?" I asked him extending my hand.
He was looking at me with those pale green eyes filled with pain and fear, making my heart crack, but standing up eventually and walking towards me. He took my outstretched hand and we started to move towards the pack. We moved slowly as Lucas couldn´t keep up with my pace, but after a few miles I decided that we could portal to the next stop where we would leave trace behind to confuse the one following us.
We continued to portal from one place to another the whole night and when the sun went up shining over the mountains where we were leaving the last trace miles and miles away from our final destination, I concluded it was time to go to the pack, return the boy and disappear. I took his hand one more time and closed my eyes, imagining the border of the Wolf Moon pack.
My heart was thumping rapidly, the excitement was bubbling inside me and the invisible pull was getting stronger as I thought about the place where the she-wolf was. I knew I couldn´t see her. My mission was to make sure Lucas was safe and with his parents. It would start and finish there, but still my heart and soul was crying and begging to see her, to touch her.
I waved my hand, creating a portal as we walked inside and immediately appeared in front of the border. I could sense the werewolves circling the territory, but something changed since my last visit. I could also sense magic here. Interesting.
With Lucas trailing behind me, I reached the border and felt the magic barrier protecting it. The magic was somehow familiar to me, like if I knew the person creating it. I lifted my hand and was shocked by the magic, but then it shifted, opening up a bit, creating a gate for me to go through.
What the hell?
That wasn´t possible unless the barrier was created by someone who was connected to me by blood. My thoughts were interrupted by the noise of tens pairs of paws pounding on the ground and nearing me.
A loud roaring came from the front as I turned, seeing that I was surrounded by the wolves that were growling, showing their sharp canines as an earshattering alarm sounded through the territory. I smirked seeing the welcoming committee. My magic was in defending mode flowing through my body to the tips of my fingers as a red light shone. Lucas was standing behind me watching the situation intently. He knew they wouldn´t hurt him.
I was ready to fight. They were circling me before one of them leaped in the air and jumped, causing me to turn around and send the stunning spell in his direction. It hit him right in the middle as he was pushed back by the force of my spell and landed on the hard ground with a loud thud. The others growled at me and I saw one of them change position ready to attack, but then his eyes clouded and after a few seconds he backed away from him, the rest following. They started to circle me again, holding the formation as I stood there and waited for the first attack to come.
"Lucas!" a voice shouted and I saw an older man with brown hair and brown eyes running towards us.
"Dad!" Lucas ran around me as fast as his short legs could carry him and jumped into the arms of the older man, his father.
It would have been a beautiful sight if there wasn´t the threat that I would be eaten alive by wolves. I didn´t think they were vegeterians. I was looking at them with a blank face as I felt my magic surge through me uncontrollably getting into surface causing my whole body warm up. The temperature around me was rising and the sparks of fire started to form around me making the werewolves circling retreat a little looking at me with big and guarding eyes growling in warning.
I felt the wind shift and the pounding of the more paws on the ground letting me know that I would have even more company. The sweetest smell hit me, making my head dizzy, my heart beat faster and my whole body burning even more than I already was. The aroma was so alluring and seductive like sugar nuts and I knew instantly who it belonged to.
Her.
The circle of the werewolves opened creating a corridor as I saw a massive dark blond wolf stop in front of me growling in a powerful and merciless voice emitting a strong aura that only an Alpha could have. This was the Alpha of the Wolf Moon pack, Sawyer Donahue. Behind him was a little bit smaller all black wolf with a powerful aura, a Beta, I guessed, backing the Alpha up and growling with the same threatening voice, making me smirk deviantly.
I wouldn´t cover under their growling voices. Quite the contrary, I wanted to show them that I didn´t fear or respect them. I stood my ground, making my face emotionless, not flinching as they roared.
I had an urge to use my magic, creating a fire and burning them all alive, showing them who the leader was and the most powerful person here, when she stepped around. The most beautiful, short all blond wolf with just the tips of her ears dark brown. The sweet scent caught me unprepared with the intensity causing my knees to wobble slightly. Her eyes were shining like the most precious sapphires, glowing and luring me to come closer to her.
She stepped closer towards my direction, whimpering lowly, making me tilt my head to the side, not understanding why she was sad, but wanting to do something to make her happier. The urgency to see her joyful was overwhelming. I heard the sound of the bones breaking and then the most stunning female on the Earth was standing in front of me.
Entirely naked.
