What I've done? Atlas - Don't worry Alpha, everything is in good hands. I promise to report to you even the tiniest issue at the end of the day.-Chris said but this didn't erase my worries. I agreed with Cody's idea of going on a trip because it was hard to handle the gossips and I didn't know for how long I could restrain my beast before it attacks someone seriously. He had a really strong aura and we are both incredibly proud. The biggest difference between his personality and mine is that my wolf beast Shaun is very impulsive like Cody, while Cody's wolf Samson is collected. I never knew why the Moon Goddess assigned them this way, but that's what we got. - You know it too that this didn't make me worry any less, but don't take it personally. - Chris pat my back and gave me an encouraging smile. - I won't, but you honestly need a break Atlas. - he only called me by my name when we were alone with Cody only. - Actually, if you want I can stay and Chris goes with you instead. - Cody added and I got alerted. Why would he want to skip the trip which was his idea? Cody seemed to read my mind. - Just to leave the second-highest authority in charge so the pack won't think that we don't take our tasks and position serious enough. - I looked at Cody and tried to find any glimpse of a lie in his voice. My wolf also questioned his. Chris stepped between us to avoid things getting more tensed. - This was my idea, Cody only presented it, so if it's possible don't bite his head off. - we both smiled a little and I took a deep breath. - Can you handle this? - I asked Cody and he nodded taking away all his childish attitude. - I won't disappoint you. By the way, with your absence, people will notice how lucky they are to have you as our Alpha. - I hugged my brother and turned to Chris. - Is Nita okay with this? - Chris smirked. - Come on. She isn't my boss. - I tilted my head to the side and Chris rolled his eyes lifting his hands in the air in defense. -Yes she agreed. - Cody sat behind my desk in my armchair and said. - This is not what I thought it would feel like. - only the Alpha sat on that chair in our family, that was a tradition. Also, there was a myth, that the chair could tell if the person who is sitting on it is the Alpha by right. Cody didn't feel the wave of energy of the chair because he wasn't ready to be an Alpha. - Don't worry, if I die you will feel what you expected. - Cody looked into my eyes then examined the chair and his smile faded. - I prefer to never know what it feels like when this chair chooses you. - he never told to our father but Cody didn't want to be the Alpha, he hated when he had too much. responsibility also preferred to run wildly than to sit in an office and run a business. Also, Cody was my best friend and he loved me like a real brother, he was happy for me and supported me always that is why I chose him to be my Beta. Chris was older than us with a few decades and only a third Lycan, he automatically became my third in command when I noticed how well he could handle conflicts and after he proved his loyalty to me on the battlefield. His mate was the daughter of the Beta of a neighborhood pack. Normally in this case the male becomes the next Beta in that pack but Chris refused the opportunity and Nita was more than happy to join our pack. Only after their first pup, we noticed that Nita wore the pants in their relationship. - In this case, let's go before I change my mind. - I mumbled and Cody jumped up from the chair. - Send pictures! And enjoy this little break like I would! I don't want to disappoint you! - I'll do my best and you try not to ruin my pack in a week please! - Cody hit together with his heels and saluted. - Understood Alpha! - this made me chuckle and I shook my head. We left with Chris to the airport. I had no idea where that lunatic bought us tickets until I saw them at the airport. - Greece? - Exactly. Since Cody has cousins from his mother's side there he thought it would be nice to visit them. - Now I feel a bit bad that he stayed at home instead. - Chris pat my shoulder while we walked in the kine to get on our plane. - Do need. Cody is still a child, this will be a good lesson. - I sighed. - I hope this isn't a too big bote for him. - He can solve it, now relax. This will be a pretty long flight. We got on the plane and long hours later we stepped out of the airport in Greece. It was really different. People walked carefree in the sunshine and enjoyed their free time. We checked in a nearby hotel with Chris and decided to sleep a bit. The Jet lag was killing me, but in the middle of the night my wolf woke me up. He was alerted and ready for everything. My eyes popped wide open and I searched for danger but my wolf howled with excitement. *- Mate! -*Shaun... That is impossible, we killed our mate remember? - but he didn't stop howling. *-Mate is near! Get the f**k up before she disappears!- I groaned in frustration which made Chris get up as well. - What is going on at Atlas? - he asked with a sleepy voice and I could totally understand him. All my nerves hurt, my muscles felt heavy and my head without Shaun's howling also hurt. -Shaun thinks our mate is near. I just told him that is impossible. - What if you got a second chance mate? - Chris asked and laughter busted out of me. - Me? Seriously? How? I killed my first mate. The one who a descendant in our family finally had after almost a millennia. Why would I get a second chance? - Chris sat straighter and shrugged a bit. - Why not? - Shaun kept howling and he decided to end the discussion with me. He took over the control of our body and he jumped out of the window. I couldn't get back the control so I just wanted until he sees that we don't have a mate. But while we ran along with the city I smelled it too. A sweet scent of lime with a hint of ginger. After running around in circles I lost track and in our frustration, Shaun leads us to a nearby forest. After hours of running around, I felt it again. This time we caught on her scent and followed until we arrived at probably the darkest spot of the forest. There I saw a glimpse of black and gold fur, I didn't understand if she was our mate why she kept running. -* We can't miss her! - Shaun howled and I agreed with him a hundred percent. This sweet woman was probably our last chance and she was about to disappear. I followed her until my lungs were giving up the fight, our legs trembled and Shaun's vision blurred but he kept running, I knew that he won't give up even if we die in exhaustion. I stopped and decided to follow her paw prints which weren't regular ones. Her paws were extremely small for a werewolf but too big for a werefox. *- What she could be? - I asked Shaun while we carefully followed her path. -* Our mate. *-But I mean what kind of shifter? -*Our mate and that is all that matters.- Shaun ended the discussion and I saw a glade in front of us. Something was lying in the grass and we slowly approached it. But I stepped on a f*****g branch just when we were close enough to get dizzy with her amazing scent. My mate jumped up alerted and our eyes locked. I wasn't ready to see what I saw. Her eyes were like honey and shining dangerously, her fur was black, gold and red as blood. And she wasn't a werewolf. *- She is a kitsune! - Shaun howled. He gave back the control for me and I shifted into my human form, but this sweet, cunning fox only seemed to wait for this opportunity because at the moment I stood on two feet again she ran away and disappeared in the night. I growled in frustration and howled with anger. Chris arrived at the glade and he walked to me without getting close to me. I knew I was trembling with anger and he was more intelligent than to get close to me right now. - You were right. I got a second chance mate. - But this is great! - Chris said with excitement and smiled until I glanced at him. His smile disappeared and he showed his neck in submission. - She ran away. - How? If she is your mate she should've felt the bond. - I didn't answer Chris's statement and he asked. - What did you say to her? - Nothing. But there is a tiny problem... - Apart from your mate running away? What? - Chris was a bit frustrated but his anger wasn't even close to mine. - She isn't a wolf. - Then what is she? - A kitsune...
