I'm finally breathing Noelle My plane took off and I acted as the children around me. I peeked out of the windows and couldn't sit straight in my seat. I wanted to get off and explore already! Then I remembered that I didn't even book a hotel room or anything but I just shrugged. All my life so far was running, planning, and hiding, now I'll enjoy the carefree vacation I always dreamed of and I deserved it. There was a guy around my age sitting next to me and he started to chuckle. I glanced at him from the corner of my eyes. He had dark brown hair, brown eyes, and sun-kissed skin. With a hard accent, he started to apologize. - Sorry! It is just so cute how you are staring at everything! - I blushed a little. - This is my first time abroad. I don't want to miss anything! - he extended his hand to me and I shook it. None of my senses alerted me that he would mean danger. - In this case, let me help you out. My name is Nico, I'm local. I can show you the best beaches and restaurants! - he was cute and handsome. Also, I could use some guidance. - My name is Noelle. Nice to meet you, Nico! - he flashed a smile with his white teeth and that was only when I noticed his piercing on his left eyebrow. Nico helped me to grab my suitcase and when we finally were out of the airport I inhaled the salty air. It was simply perfect. People chatted excitedly, tourists like me, started to take pictures already. I kept looking everywhere with my eyes wide open. I heard the soft traditional music flow with the warm breeze. Suddenly my view was blocked by a grinning Nico. - Do you like it so far? - he asked and I nodded. - It is exactly what I've been searching for. - Nico extended his hand and I grabbed it following him to the side of the sidewalk. He let my hand go and whistled sharply, a taxi turned to us and stopped in front of Nico. He said something in Greek and we jumped in the car. - Where are we going?- I asked and Nico turned from the passenger seat, back to me. - First thing first. A beautiful girl like you needs accommodation and after that, if you allow me, I would like to invite you for a lunch. - Actually, this idea sounds fantastic! Thank you. - Nico blushed a bit and smiled. - Anytime little alepuó. - I caught my head up. - What did you say? - Nico's smile widened. - I said anytime, little fox. - this was a bit suspicious and then I noticed hai smell was different. He smelled earthy and like pine. Why didn't I notice this before? But it was too late to turn back, if he notices that I'm trying to escape, then I might be in big trouble. We headed to a beautiful white, blue and gold painted hotel called Hotel Paradise. I entered and booked a hotel room taking care that Nico wouldn't hear the number I'm in. After that, I rushed up to leave my packages and he wanted to join me and help but I refused. When everything was settled. I walked back to the hotel hall. It was huge and decorated with white marble statues in basically every corner. The reception was made of dark wood and black marble, behind the reception table there was a large oil painting of Greek Gods and I noticed one who was really similar to the Moon Goddess. I totally forgot about Nico and just studied the painting trying to figure out who was who. I felt a gentle touch on my shoulder and smelled again, pine with wet earth. Nico leaned closer and started to explain. - That is Selene the Moon Goddess, on her left is Hecate her sister, the Goddess of hell, and in front of her there are three goddesses, those are her children the ones who decide humans destiny. If you will live a prosperous life, be successful or unlucky, everything is in their hands. - I listened to the lecture. When Nico stopped explaining the Gods he offered me his hand and I accepted it. I should keep up the appearances until I can find out what is he and what are his reasons for being such a gentleman. I thought that he will take me to a fancy restaurant but instead, we headed to a typical taverna. Everything was made of oak and stone. The place smelled incredible and the saliva ran together in my mouth. My stomach rumbled a bit causing Nico to laugh. - Well Noelle, your stomach has a really good taste if it's already claiming food. I brought you here because this is a place my family owns and my father is one of the most talented chefs in the city. - Stop the lessons and let me try them! - I said with a huge smile and Nico chuckled again. We sat down at a table and the waiter greeted him as an old friend. He smelled the same as Nico. He was a bit younger and looked like Michaelangelo's David. - Who is your new friend Nico? - he asked. - My name is Noelle. - his eyes got a bit darker and said in a strange voice. - Well, Nico's friends are my friends too. My name is Theo and I'm Nico's Beta. - I felt how my eyebrows jumped to the middle of my forehead. Zack told me about the werewolves having ranks but I didn't know they will look like this or smell like this. Also, Zack told me that they have a strong and dangerous aura unless you are stronger than them or mated to one of the highest ranks. I swallowed and suddenly felt like a chicken when the foxes corner it. - So you guys are werewolves? - I asked and they smiled with pride. - Finally. I thought she will never realize it. - Nico said, but I still didn't feel any bad vibes coming from him. - I thought foxes have a better sense of smell than us. - Theo added and I shrugged. - This is my first time meeting werewolves. - their eyes opened so big that I was afraid their eyeballs will fell out. - Have you lived under a rock or something? - Theo asked and Nico elbowed him to his side. Theo gasped a bit and growled. - No, this is a long story and I'm too hungry to talk right now. - Theo smiled and handed me a menu, Nico just ordered hir regular food and waited for me to choose. When the food was ready Nico had at least three huge portions of different foods while I had a single plate. We started to eat and chat, by the time I finished my lunch I was full. - Wow, this was absolutely delicious. I would love to eat more but there is no space left in my stomach. - I said with an amazement which caused Nico to look at me funny. - What?- I asked and he grinned. - Nothing, it is just interesting that you can get full with so little food. - I shrugged. - We have better energy storage. I have a quick question for you by the way. - Nico leaned closer and rested his head on his fists. - I'm all ears, Noelle. - I took a deep breath. - Why are you helping me instead of chasing me away or killing me actually? - Nico leaned back on his chair. - My wolf told me that you mean no harm and if I'm wise enough I'll try to be your friend. - Your wolf? So you really have another personality inside your head? - I asked like a child but this was just fascinating. Nico nodded and asked. - Would you like to meet him? - I nodded and Nico's eyes got black like coal. His voice deepened and he acted differently. His posture was more serious and respectful. - Nice to meet you, Noelle. My name is Zeus, I'm Nico's wolf. Sorry for my human counterpart for not noticing your powers dear. - Zeus's voice caressed a bit my soul. Probably because he had higher powers than Nico in his human form and also because wolf spirits were celestial creatures and I was more celestial than average. - No problem I actually like him to treat me this way. It is nice to be normal. - Zeus barked. - You will never be normal Noelle, but I'm glad you like our company. I'll give Nico back the control. See you soon! - he winked and Nico's eyes turned back to brown. - What powers was he talking about? - Nico asked and I gasped. - So you heard us talking? - Yes, since you are one with your fox you don't know this feeling, let me explain. - I listened to Nico talking and didn't even notice that my first day of vacation flew away. But I had great company and even better food. When it was getting dark Nico offered that he will accompany me back to the hotel but just when we were about to leave Theo called him away. After a few minutes, Nico's expression hardened, he walked back to me and said. - I'm really sorry but I have some business to attend to. See you tomorrow? - he asked. - Of course! You promised me to show around! - Nico grinned and caressed the top of my head. -Take care alepou. -You too! - I waved goodbye to him and Theo and walked back to my hotel. This vacation is getting more exciting than I thought it would be.
