Ever since we had lunch outside, it became a recurring thing and William had started talking more and more.
It started out with sarcastic remarks and then he’d say something that would clue me in on what he is like as a person.
“We’re going to work from my house today.” Were the first words that had come out of William’s mouth when I walked into his office. It was barely eight in the morning and he looked like he had come right out of a magazine shoot. Everlastingly handsome, he is.
“Why?”
“Because I’m the boss and I say where and when we can work.” William said as he gets up from his seat, grabbing a flash drive. “Bring these files with you.” was all he said before walking away.
He was out of the office before I could even ask him what the fudge was happening? I grabbed the files on his table and followed his steps out of the office. William was waiting by the elevator, having already pressed the arrow down button.
“Why your house though?” I asked as we waited for the elevator doors to part.
“I . . . don’t feel like working from here today.” Was all William said and i nodded. I didn’t know what to say because I really had no idea what he was thinking about. Any way, this would be a good opportunity to see his house, where he lives, relaxes, cooks. Yes, William cooks.
Just like the last time, William pulled open the car door for me, making sure I was seated before shutting it and walking over to the driver’s seat.
“Do you have ice cream at home?” I asked once he pulled out of the parking lot.
“We’re going to work. It’s official hours, Dev.”
“And we’re officially working at your house where there would be ice cream right?” I asked, looking at him with wide eyes, lips pulled into a pout.
William chuckled at that, shaking his head fondly at me. The action made my heart beat faster. “Fine, we can get you ice cream before going. There’s a cold stone around here.”
“No, I’m in the mood for Hagen Daaz, so if you could stop at a convenience store, I’ll dash in and out.” I said and William nodded.
William does pull to a stop in front of a convenience store and I rushed in, picked up a strawberry cheesecake ice cream, paid and rushed back out to the car.
“What’s so special about this brand?”
“It’s really really good.”
“Gelato are really good though.” William said as he takes a turn, the radio on, volume turned on low as the music played on.
“Can’t really afford that right now.” I said and William pulled to a stop in front of a red light, turning to look at me. He doesn’t say anything for some seconds and begins driving when the light turns green.
When we finally get to William’s house, my jaw hit the ground. It was a two story building, big and spread out, a driveway, large black door with gold handle. Everything was just mirrors and he had a nicely trimmed lawn and so many pretty flowers. When I got down from the car, the air smelt . . . fresher.
Inside the house, the walls were white, black seats with colorful bean bags and couches, kitchen was the the same, clean and looked so fancy. The floor was marbel and there was a chandelier hanging. I couldn’t stop myself from rushing over to the glass doors leading out. There was a pool and beyond that were trees, a lot of trees and even more freshly trimmed lawn.
There were pictures of William on the wall, art works, a life size iron man and stormtrooper.
“You like Star Wars?”
“Who doesn’t?” Was William’s answer. “Let’s work and just relax for now.” William said as he pulled out sandwiches from the fridge, popping it in the microwave for twenty seconds.
“So we’re just going to hang out?”
“Is that a problem?” William asked, his brow raised. Of course not. This. . . This is so much better. And William looked so relaxed here in his home and I was loving it.
“Nope. That’s alright.” I said, handing him the ice cream just as the microwave went off.
We ended up on the couch and I grabbed the remote, flipping through Netflix before settling on The Big Bang Theory, my plate of sandwich on my lap.
“Really? Sitcoms?”
“Then what do you watch?” I asked William, looking at him.
“Proper things. True crime story’s, Planck crash investigation, movies.” He replied and I stared at him with wide eyes. I was . . .shocked.
“Have you watched this though?”
“No.” William replied, lifting the sandwich to his mouth and taking a bite.
“We’re gonna binge this till I have to go home. You have to be educated!” I said looking for the first episode of the first season.
“You’re ridiculous.” William said after he had swallowed. Shaking his head afterwards.
“I’m unique.”
William let’s put a loud snort and I couldn’t stop myself from laughing. He looked quite shocked that the sound had come out of him and that made it even funnier.
“Will, you are actually awesome.” I said, smiling at him. “Underneath your prickly grouchiness, you’re quite awesome.” I said and William. . . smiled.
He smiled so wide and it looked so open and on my goodness, he has dimples. Dimples. How am I just seeing them now? This man. . . was not good for my heart.
“Despite your annoying traits, Dev.” William paused. “You’re quite alright too.” He said with a laugh.
I felt my cheeks heat up and I grabbed the bottle of juice and raised it to my mouth, to distract myself from this man for a little so I can catch my breath.
