EMILY
I don’t wait for some seconds, mentally contemplating with myself if I should run or not. I didn’t even get to conclude before I began to run away.
I didn’t want him close, I refused to see him. Every time I look at him, I cannot help but see him in his werewolf form and that terrifies me.
“Please don’t run.” He said while chasing after me and I quickened my pace.
I didn’t want him catching up to me so I ran faster but I ended up missing a step and falling.
I cried out in pain. I tried to stand up on my feet but my effort was in vain.
“Don’t touch me!” I shouted when he came closer.
“Don’t touch me!” I cried out.
“Please let me help you.” He pleaded.
“I don’t want your help. Just stay away from me!” I cried out loud.
“Please. Just listen to me. I don’t want to hurt you.”
I have been avoiding him for a week now and I’ve successfully avoided him until today. Why doesn’t suddenly have to appear and who asked him for help?
What does he want? I’ve made it clear to him that I do not want him close to me and I do not want him close. I did the at by not attending his classes anymore yet he has followed me.
“Please listen to me, Emily. I’m begging you. I’m not going to hurt you at all. I just want you to hear me.” He spoke softly.
I took in a deep breath and exhaled deeply. If I hear his footsteps, I might pass out again.
The fact he’s a werewolf still mortified me and it’s been over a week but I still couldn’t get it over my head.
“Don’t take another step,” I warned, my voice quivered.
“Please listen to me, Emily. If possible, can you please forget everything that happened? I know it’s not easy for you but I want you to. I want you to go back to before you found out what it is you found out.” I heard him take another step towards me.
I was nervous but I stood still, not ready to take another step further away from him.
“I want to help you. I won’t force you to come attend my lectures anymore but just please let me help you. I want to be close to you and for you… for you to get to know me.” He said.
“I don’t think that’s possible. It’s not possible.” I finally turned to look at him.
I didn’t know where I got the confidence from but I wanted him to know that I didn’t want his help.
“I don’t think you can walk, let me help you.” He said moving closer to me.
“What do you not understand? I already told you that I don’t need your help. You don’t know how much I dislike you. You are someone I look up to and I respect you so much. I always thought you acknowledged me because of my intelligence but I didn’t know you only did that because you saw me as your mate. Do I look like an animal to you?” I said through my teeth.
I watched as he took in a deep breath and exhaled. “I wish things didn't turn out the way they did but they did and I want you to know that I’m not forcing you to do anything against your will. I saved you that night. If I didn’t, you would have gotten hurt and so far you don’t recall any of the dangers you faced except the fact I am a werewolf and that’s not fair.”
That’s true. I was almost hurt that night. He saved me but that doesn’t mean I’d overlook the fact he mentioned in his mate.
Werewolves only exist in books and movies and suddenly they exist in real life and I don’t appreciate that and it’s worse because he mentioned he only approached me because I was his mates
“How do you expect me to overlook the fact that you claimed I am your mate? Things can never go back to normal. My life can’t go back to normal not after what I’ve discovered.” I just had to let him know.
“I know and I’m not forcing you. All I’m asking for is a chance and I know that’s something you can do.” He remarked.
“Are there… are there more of you? I mean werewolves in this city?” I asked.
It didn’t occur to me before but as I thought about it, I couldn’t help it. There’s no way he’s the only werewolf in this city. If he’s a werewolf, it means he has a pack and there are many more and the thought of it made me scared.
“Yes.” He replied in a firm tone.
I placed my palm on my chest trying to even my breath.
“I won’t hurt you. I never want to and I just want you to get to know me. I know it’s not going to be easy for you but I want us to spend time with each other and get to know each other. Please give me a chance.”
He sounded sincere and as much as I didn’t want to give him a chance, I couldn’t help but just at least give him.
“I’m not your mate. And if that’s true, I refuse to be your mate. I reject you.” He said in a stern and firm tone.
“I’m not forcing you. At least give me a chance and let me help you. I never want to.”
I shouldn’t have lifted my face to look at him. I shouldn’t have because the moment I did, my eyes locked with his eyes. Those eyes that I am always mesmerized with.
His eyes weren’t scary. They were beautiful. As I locked gaze with him, I only saw Professor Dylan, the man I’ve always respected, and not the werewolf.
It surprised me that for a slight moment, I didn’t think about werewolves and wasn’t as terrified as I used to, and just like that I opened my mouth and said, “Okay.”
