Professor Dylan
EMILY
Growing up, I have always wanted to live a normal life. Most people figured out their lives as they go but I already have mine planned out, ever since the day I knew I could dream. I wanted to be a nurse. I wanted to be the reason people had a second chance in life. It wasn't that easy but it wasn't too hard either.
It was pretty much all I ever wanted. To finish college with a good grade, get employed, get married and have my own little family and kids one day but all of that changed when I met him—Professor Dylan. The sexiest man I had ever seen walked the planet and believe me, I had seen my own fair share of men.
Professor Dylan was like an angel that fell down from heaven but unlike most angels, professor Dylan seemed somewhat mysterious to me. Amongst all the teachers in college, he was my favourite. I respected him a lot because he had accomplished so much at such a young age. Did I also forget to mention that he was undeniably handsome?
He had a snow-like face that sparkled in the sunlight and his curly brown hair was neatly styled in a way that accentuated his face. His ass was round and firm. Might be the sexiest ass I've ever seen. His fair skin glowed like the morning sun shimmering on a lake. His lips were always slightly parted and his hazel eyes complimented his long lashes.
He was clad in a turtle neck top and trousers and on his feet were a pair of white sneakers. This man was a piece of work. An alluring piece of work. I can see clearly now, why all the ladies were crazy about him.
"That'll be all for today class." His deep baritone voice disrupted my chain of thoughts and I am forced to concentrate even though all I wanted to do was stare at him all day.
"For you thesis, I'd like you all to pick a topic and work on it. It'll be graded alongside your project for the semester. Class dismissed." He said calmly and the wooden sound of chairs being pushed and books being closed and shuffled, drifted through the air as everyone made their way outside the class.
From the corner of my eye, I saw him adjust his glasses as I stuffed my materials into my bag. A habit I had noticed he frequents each time he was done with class. He quickly picks up his suitcase and stares at me briefly with a wave before exiting the class. Did I forget to mention that he always does that? If I were as delusional as the other girls then I would've thought that he fancies me but he doesn't. In a my years in this college, I have never seen him with a woman. In fact, I have even come to a conclusion that he might be gay.
"So..." Mira, my best friend approaches as soon as I exit the my seat. "Any plans for this evening?"
I raised a brow at her. "Other than finishing up my thesis? Nope, that'll be all."
She lets out an exasperated sigh. "You're the smartest girl in class and I'm pretty sure you're half way through your thesis by now. Loosen up Emily and have fun. Live a little will you?"
A tuck a strand of hair behind my ears. Listening to Mira rant all day about me being boring is a lifestyle I'm definitely used to by now. If we weren't childhood friends whilst growing up, I don't think she would've struck me as the perfect friend but I'm stuck with her for the rest of my life and there's nothing I can do about it.
"Your definition of fun is way different from mine Mira. I have fun reading and that's how it has always been."
She rolls her eyes at me. "But today is my birthday and I want to do something other than reading. You didn't forget did you?"
"You've been singing about it all week, how could I?" I walked past her as I made my way outside and she trailed behind me closely.
"Josh is throwing me a party at strawberry island. As my best friend, I want you there." Josh is Mira's boyfriend. I don't personally like him but she does so I have to pretend that I do. I, on the other hand is as single as the word itself. I don't fancy relationships and see no reason in being tied to one. It was utterly exhausting and for the life in me, I wasn't prepared for the emotional drama that came along with it. I prefer my time and space.
Mira thinks it's just a phase because she has not seen me associate with any guy other than professor Dylan. She believes I'd outgrown my thoughts but if only she knew how mistaken she was about it.
"Strawberry island? The club?" I stopped in my tracks to stare at her. "Why would you celebrate your birthday at a club? You know I don't like places with loud music filled with weird people."
"That's the definition of a club." She retorted. "And it's just for one night so please, be there okay otherwise, I'll never forgive you." And with that being said, she walked out of my sight. I didn't have a choice now. Not going would only bring trouble If i wasn't looking for trouble, then I would try my best to avoid it. Mira and trouble works hand in hand just like the law of karma.
That night after going through my books, I decided to attend Mira's party. So, I freshened up and scanned through my closet for a decent dress to wear for the occasion.
When I was done, I applied minimal make-up and my feet into a pair shoes. I tied my hair up Into a messy bun, letting some tendrils fall loose on my face. Satisfied with my look, I texted Mira and threw on my jacket before leaving the house for the club.
I arrived at the club and made my way inside as my eyes scanned the entire premise In hopes of finding Mira. I obviously didn't know anyone here so If I was to survive the night then it had to be her.
As I made my way through the crowd, I wondered why anyone would want to visit a place as disgusting as this? I was utterly restless and if it weren't for Mira, I would've gone home by now. I wasn't supposed to be here in the first place but anyways.
I spotted Mira making out with Josh and walked towards her table. The minute she saw me, she ran into my hands for a hug.
"I can't believe you came." She squealed in delight and I forced a smile. If she hadn't forced me to, I wouldn't even dare to come here.
"I won't be staying here for long." I reminded her. "I just came to wish you a happy birthday otherwise, you'd give me an earful."
"You came and that's all that matters. Plus, you'd have to wait until after I cut the cake before you leave so have a seat till then." She pointed to an empty seat and went back to resume her position on Josh's thigh. I located my chair and sat down. I felt so out of place and couldn't wait to leave.
Mira on the other hand was having a blast. After waiting for hours, she cut the cake and took to the dance floor. She was completely wasted and I didn't want to leave her here all by herself so I approached her.
"Mira let's go home now, please." I pleaded to her but she didn't look interested in anything I had just said.
"Come onnnn Emily. Loosen up." She sing-songed. "This is your first night at a club. Make the most out of it. Why are you being so stiff?" She snapped at me. I didn't take any offense in her words because she was obviously drunk.
"I feel like I'm being watched from different angles" I complained as I looked around the room to see different pairs of eyes staring and ogling at me. "I know that I don't like it here so let's go. It's late already."
"You don't get to see two beautiful women in the club everyday." She slurred. "It's called eye-f*****g Emily so get used to it and you'll survive this night with me I promise."
"But Mira—" I trailed off but she interrupted me with a glass of drink.
"Here, drink this. I'll be right back after I use the restroom and then we can leave." Mira handed me a glass of wine before she stormed off and I drowned the entire content in one gulp.
I waited patiently for Mira as I slowly felt myself getting dizzy and lightheaded. When she didn't show up minutes later, I went in search in of her instead. I got past the exit and just as I am about to make a turn towards the parking area, I felt huge pair of hands grab me from behind. Frightened, I tried to scream but they snapped my mouth shut as they led me towards a car parked around the corner. Just then, it dawned on me that they might be kidnappers.
I bit his hands and they let go of my mouth almost immediately. "Help! Help me!" I screamed at the top of my lungs and just as they were about to force me into their car, someone emerged from the darkness and stalked towards us.
"Let her go!" He ordered in a stern voice. One that resonated authority and command. It gave me the chills.
I tried to make out who he was but I couldn't until he stepped into the light. My jaw dropped to the ground when my eyes came in contact with my rescuer.
"Professor Dylan?" I called out with a gasp as my brain suddenly went blank. What exactly was he doing here?
