Beatrice
It took a few hours driving to reach the safe house but I was relieved when I finally pulled the car up outside.
The twins were both still fast asleep and I was happy that so far I hadn't been followed.
I sat there in the car for a good ten minutes to make sure that there were no vehicles nearby that seemed to be watching us. It would be much easier to try and lose anyone who had followed me in the car than trying to run whilst carrying them both from the house.
Once I was satisfied I exited the car and made my way round to the back and quietly opened the door. I lifted Jack out carefully and carried him towards the house. It was much easier now I was only carrying them one at a time.
Once I reached the house I climbed up the couple of stairs that led to a small porched area at the front of the house and pulled a set of keys from my pocket.
I quickly opened the door and took another quick glance behind me to double check Jacob was still asleep too and then carried Jack inside.
I carried him downstairs to a small basement that I have already prepared with a couple of beds and one of those small portable toilets that you get in old peoples homes and hospitals.
The one tiny window down here has got silver bars across it courtesy of Walter.
I put Jack down gently on the nearest bed, not because I'm concerned for his comfort but more because I don't want to risk waking him before I have chance to collect Jacob and get them both secured down here.
I return to the car and carry Jacob inside and soon after both boys are sleeping soundly in their new prison.
I climb back up the stairs and bolt the door to the basement behind me securely and then attach a padlock to the door for good measure.
Once I am satisfied that there is no way for the boys to get out, I move through to the sitting area and collapse down onto the small pale blue sofa.
I pull my phone out of my pocket and frown to myself when I see that Walter has not tried to contact me.
I hope it's just because he has had to leave in his wolf form and has been unable to pick up his phone.
A small part of me is concerned that Walter has been unsuccessful and either captured or killed in which case I selfishly hope its the latter as Walter could easily reveal our location.
I am exhausted from the effort of running whilst carrying both the boys and the late hour so I decide that I will get myself a few hours sleep and if Walter is not here when I wake then I will have to move to the back up safe house that he doesn't know about.
That is the difference between my parents and I, I always have a back up plan in place.
I rise from my seat and walk around the entire house checking that each door and window is closed and locked and then I climb the rickety wooden staircase and collapse onto the small double bed in the first room on the left.
The mattress is pretty old and is not very soft but I have slept on worse. I close my eyes and sleep comes to me quickly.
It's probably around five hours later when I am awoken by the first rays of the morning sun peeking through a small gap in the curtains and onto my face.
I sit up and stretch my arms above my head and let out a loud yawn.
Reaching for my phone I can see that Walter has still not contacted me so I know it would be best to leave as soon as possible.
This however posed a problem as I haven't got any more of the sleeping powder left and even though the boys are only ten years old it is still not going to be easy to move them both without it.
I was hoping that once we got here and they were secured downstairs in the basement that there would be no need to move them until I had sold them off at which point I could have had time to make more of the sleeping powder.
I get up from the bed and make my way downstairs at which point I can make out the sounds of the boys crying and shouting for help which confirms to me that the powder has indeed worn off.
I groan in frustration as I try to think of a convincing story that I can tell them and perhaps get their cooperation.
I decide to tell them its a school project designed to teach the younger pups about the dangers of going off with people without their parents knowing about it.
Satisfied with my plan I begin to make some breakfast for them, as much as I despise their parents they haven't actually done anything wrong and if my story is going to be believable to them then it wouldn't do me any good to starve them.
It takes me around twenty minutes to whip up some pancakes, bacon and eggs and I put it all on a tray and make my way downstairs.
The moment I open the door the boys cries die down and I can just hear the odd sniffle as I descend the stairs.
" Jack, Jacob" I call out in a cheery voice.
" Its just me Miss Beatrice. Everything is ok there is no need to be scared."
" Miss Beatrice?" Jack says in a scared voice.
" Yes its me. I have some breakfast for you here."
" What is happening? Where are we?" Jacob asks me as I reach the bottom of the stairs.
" We are doing our school project." I answer him doing my best to act surprised that he doesn't know.
" What school project? They both ask at the same time both giving me a suspicious look.
Realising that they might need a bit more convincing I decide that I will have to make the story a bit more elaborate.
" The project to teach the younger pups about stranger danger. When the Alpha found out that we were teaching you all he decided that it would make a good training exercise for his warriors if you were "kidnapped" as part of it." I said making quotation marks in the air with my fingers as I said the word kidnapped.
" Thats why those bars are on the windows" I continued pointing as I spoke.
" The Alpha didn't want it to be too easy for his men the get to you when they tracked you down."
Jack seemed to relax slightly at this point but Jacob still seemed unsure.
" Why weren't we told? Mum would never let us be scared like this without telling us what was going on" He said crossing his arms over his chest at me as he spoke.
" I thought you were told" I lied as I shrugged my shoulders.
" Anyway here is your breakfast. Eat up as we have to move soon."
" Move?"
" Yes the Alpha didn't want us to just stay in one place the whole time and make it easy for us to be tracked down. He has set up a couple of different places for us to go."
" I tell you what we will do" I said realising that Jacob still didn't seem to be completely buying the story.
" Eat your breakfast. We have to be out of here in the next the hour or I will be in trouble with the Alpha but as soon as we get to the next house you can call your mum and dad and see for yourselves"
Both boys relaxed now and dove into the food hungrily.
" Good boys once you have eaten make sure you use the bathroom and then we will set off."
I smiled to myself as I made my way back up the stairs. I had no intention of letting them call home but if that was the lie I needed to tell to get them to cooperate then so be it.
