(Aki)
The classes started and my seat changed, I was previously sitting beside Scarlette and now I am sitting next to Nicholas. In a snap, in his just one word, everything changed and no one could ever argue or even question his decisions. I think this is a good thing for me, if Nicholas is much stronger than Caleb, then it is much better, no one could ever touch me as what he announced in front of the class. We are not talking to each other, now that I am his underling now, I do not have the right to talk to him whenever I wanted. I am following him from behind whenever we walk in the middle of hallways, students were standing at the side letting us pass the hallway first. It was a new sight for me and maybe it was a guilt for me too that I did not took his words seriously.
And that costs me both of my best friends.
We went straight to the fraternity house after the class and I paused first before entering. I cannot see myself being one of the foxes after all those words and arguments I had with Nicholas- I am eating all of my words, nope, I mean, I just ate all of it.
“Are you not coming?” I heard someone asked and it was another underling of him.
“I am.” I plainly answered and followed them inside.
“Each member has their room in this house, but since you are just new here, we think someone will have a roommate because of you.” He added and I nodded.
“Aki, right? I am Jake.” He said and smiled after he introduced himself. He seems nice and probably too opposite with other men in this circle.
“Nice to meet you, I guess.” I answered.
“Do you want us to be roommates? I mean I just thought that you would not be a great pair to any of them.” he explained and he nodded towards the other members who are in the living room and I glanced on them. He is right, he could be the safest choice among them all. So I agreed and nodded at him.
We went upstairs, and he guided me towards to a room and I think this will be my room in this house. I looked around and it was neater than I have ever expected. I thought house of the boys would be too dirty and disgusting to live in, but I think that depends on the person living inside. I should not be judging everything from its outside image.
“This will be your bed, I will be at the top.” He said and I nodded. The bed is a double deck kind, and I will obviously occupy the lower part.
“You are living at the dormitory, right?” I asked and he nodded.
“Then, what is the use of fraternity house?” I continued and he looked seriously to me.
“You probably know that we are all werewolves.” He started and I chuckles for the realization that all of the conversations must be known and overheard by everyone. I mean, they were wolves, their sense of hearing at great more than an average dog.
“Yeah, and?” I asked to him and he let out a deep sigh.
“This is Nicholas’ headquarters for the pack.” he continued.
“And you are brave enough to join this circle.” He complimented and patted my shoulder.
Well, for starters, I did not have the voluntary choice in joining this pack. I just did it for the sake of investigating the person behind that crime, and I would not stop until I catch that person, or even a wolf.
“Should I also move things here?” I asked to him and he shook his head.
“Only his pack can do that. Meaning, you will still be going back to the dormitory if something is not urgent.” He answered and I nodded.
“You already gave him a tour?” someone said that and when we looked towards the direction where the voice came from, it was Nicholas.
“Just introducing him his room.” Jake answered him.
“Aki will be staying in my room.” he suddenly said and I scoffed.
“Are you not getting tired of my face?” I exclaimed to him and he smirked at me.
“Not at all, and I guess you will be the first to get tired between us.” He answered and walked out from the room.
“Aki!” I heard him calling me but I just went downstairs and I entered the kitchen part.
“Wait!” he yelled and held my shoulder, turned me facing him quickly.
“What do you want?” I emotionlessly asked to him.
“I will protect you.” He suddenly said and I burst out laughing.
“You should have done that with Yuki.” I answered.
“I get that you are blaming me for what happened to your best friend, that is why I am straightening things up.” He explained and I chuckles.
“It must be comfortable for you to say those things. Your guilt might be lessened when you think you are doing something for him. But what about Lily? She is already dead, Nicholas. What do you want me to do? Celebrate to be one of your freaking packs?” I continuously said and I realized that my voice starting to increase and I heard quiet growls, when I looked back around, I saw the other wolves were looking on us and guess what? They probably wanted to eat me now that I am eating their leader.
“Guys, it is alright.” Nicholas said and the wolves stopped growling.
“Alright. Sorry for your loss. I did not expect that it would target her especially that she already joined the sorority.” He said to me and I looked at him.
“Then, does that mean that Scarlette is a wolf too?” I asked and he nodded as he let out a deep sigh.
“A Luna to be exact, she is destined to marry the one who will be the next alpha.” He answered and I stare on him.
“That could be me but it could also be Caleb.” He continued as he notices the guess in my eyes.
“And that also means that you are with her to cover things up.” I exclaimed and he shook his head.
“Aki, that is not what this looks like.” He said and I chuckles.
“Well, that looked like that with me. I will join and live with all of you, just for your information, I do not have the time to scared of your existence right now. So quench your thirst, you cannot kill me right now.” I said to everyone and they only stares on me.
“We do not feed on humans.” A man said to me.
“That would be a real disgusting.” Another one said and I looked on Nicholas, who is grinning in front of me.
“Whatever you say. I have the right to say those words, I am a freaking human being brave enough to be surrounded with lycans.” I said to them and they burst out laughing.
“Way to go, human!” I heard someone said.
“Wolves, we got something to celebrate on.” Nicholas said and looked on me.
“No, we do not have the time to celebrate.” I said but the wolves starting to walk passed around me, opening every drawers and cabinets in the kitchen and all of the alcohol drinks were now on the table.
“We need to do this or other wolves would think that something is going on.” Nicholas whispered to me.
“That is what really is happening now, there is something going on.” I argued and he smiled.
“But we cannot let them notice anything, we are investigating and you are in an undercover.” He answered and left me alone in the crowd.
He might be right, he once mentioned that there is a rogue pack that feeding on humans, meaning they really do not know who the humans are and who are the wolves in the university by face. They must have ambushed them somewhere and if that person transformed into their lycan forms, that means that it is itself a wolf.
“But why? Why are they doing it?” I mumbled to myself.
“They are challenging the Alpha.” I was surprised when someone answered my question and it was Lynn.
“Are you stalking me?” I exclaimed to him and he scoffed.
“What did you say?” he asked in disbelief.
“Why do you keep on appearing whenever I am alone?” I asked to him and he chuckles.
“It was just coincidence.” He answered.
“But what do you mean by challenging the Alpha?” I asked to him and he looks around. He nodded at me and started walking away, looks like it was a signal for him to follow him out.
I did what he wanted, and we arrived at the backyard of the house. This part of the house is quiet and a good place to have a conversation. He abruptly stopped and stood while still facing his back from me.
“Alpha is the leader of the pack, and now, it is still Nicholas and Caleb’s father. Between the two of them, only one is destined to be the Alpha. That rogue group is aiming to be the main pack, that is why they are fighting every wolf they see- or as just what my intel is telling me.” he continuously explained to me.
“But, why do they wanted to be the Alpha?” I innocently asked and he burst out laughing.
“Are you dumb? You are like asking a presidential candidate why they wanted to be a president.” He answered to me and I awkwardly chuckles.
“Being the Alpha holds many privileges. Your circle would be the main pack, you can set rules, you can order people and of course you are leading everyone- it is the reputation they are asking.” He answered.
Humans and wolves are really do not have any differences, my father also wanted to do everything just for the sake of his great reputation- does that mean that he is also a wolf? That is a joke, I know it was a bit sarcastic.
“What would happen if I became the alpha?” I absent mindedly asked to him and silence filled the atmosphere we have in between.
“Are you telling a joke right now? I do not know if I should laugh.” He said to me but I looked on him seriously.
“What could be your idea about it?” I asked to him and he stopped laughing.
“You are insane. How could you fight a Lycan?” he exclaimed to me.
“I will tame the Lycan itself.” I answered.
The celebration continued until midnight and after that conversation I had with Lynn, he keeps on avoiding me. I have no idea if my words are just insane as it sounds but I was just telling him possibilities, a situation that could happen in a million years, means it is near impossibility. I cannot tame a Lycan that is for sure, especially if the Alpha would be like Caleb who got stern and firm mind, you cannot do anything to waver his thoughts. Well, that was just an impression after that one meeting I had with him in the past few days. I also know that I cannot be an Alpha, I am not a wolf, I am a freaking human being who just wanted to finish his studies in an elite school but caught up in some fantasy and now is fighting a battle with wolves.
My life is too unpredictable and full of surprises.
If I am in my right mind, I would be probably yelling and telling myself that everything was just a dream. How could you just accept in one word those wolves turning into humans are existing in the same society and dormitory you are living in? That is itself insanity. I just let out a deep sigh as I sipped on the cold canned beer I am holding while sitting on the bench here at the backyard. This place could now be my favorite spot and it just hits so different to look on those skies, this place keeps giving me the feels of sadness and struggles- but I am falling for it.
