I felt numb, that is the initial reaction I had when I heard that someone at the end of the call on the another line mentioned my name. I did not know if that person expected me to have the phone, did that individual deliberately leave the phone in the hospital ward, just for me to grab and call the phone for me to answer. I did not know what to answer, what to react so I just let my silence respond to those words.

"Aki, I know you are in there. This might be the right timing but Yuki is alright." the person continued and that made me confused and got the urge to answer that person back.

"Wait, is Yuki there?" I exclaimed and silence answered me back. This person is playing with me, I cannot determine the gender as the voice is filtered from the moment it started the conversation.

"Answer me, I would not ask anymore." I said and let out a deep sigh, probably my sign that I put up a white flag of surrender.

"Yes, you cannot see him for a while." that person answered.

"But, just update me with text or something." I answered and the call was ended.

I put the phone in my pocket and continued walking, I know I said to dad that I will go to Yuki's house but I know that he is not there and his parents would only pretend that he is there.

I decided to go to the dormitories and spent the night there. I should also be talking to Nicholas now, but I am still pissed with him and if I saw him tonight, I might punch him on his face- and that is not a good thing for my father's reputation. I saw the convenience store across the dormitory and I entered, grabbed some drinks and chips, I would probably just study for tomorrow's class. I went out from the store and started walking at the side when I saw someone.

It was Nicholas and he was entering Caleb's fraternity home, I thought rivals are not entering each other's houses. Oh, they are related to one another, brothers to be exact so the rivalry is just an idea between two strongest groups and not really a real thing between them. I stopped walking and waited for them to enter the house, I saw that Nicholas was looking around so I moved a bit towards the dark portion of the road and hide a bit.

He entered without any hitch and I saw Lynn watching them both. I do not know what is the real score with Lynn but he keeps appearing whenever these two men were at sight. He must be saying the truth when he said that he is a messenger between them. When they finally all entered the house, I continued walking and entered the dormitory. I felt thrilled when I realized that Nicholas is not here and I could spend the whole night alone in the room.

"Aki, can we talk for a minute?" I was surprised when I heard Nicholas' voice behind.

"Damn! You surprised me! I thought--" I was about to say that I saw him at Caleb's when I decided not to mention anything to him, so I just smiled and nodded. I entered together with him and I put down the plastic bag on the table, I got no choice but to give him a can of drink and he accepted is immediately.

"What do you want to talk about?" I quickly asked as soon as I opened the can and sat on my bed.

"I think you should need to know it, and everything should be coming from me." he started and he looks to serious for me to joke around.

"You are scaring me, are you finally going to kill me?" I cannot help it. that was an unintentional joke and I pinched myself for saying that- he might think about it and do it right now.

"No, I actually wanted to but I decided not to." he answered and that made me silent.

"That was only a joke, you also got that humor, huh?" I awkwardly said and laughs- forcedly.

"Aki, this school is for werewolves." he suddenly said to me and I stare on him.

"Is this some prank camera? I saw you talking to Caleb a while ago and this must be your doing?" I said and laughs again but he is not joining me to so I drink the beer I am holding- I want to be drunk.

"This is the thing I planned to say to you. I know it is hard to believe, that is the reason that I forced you to join my group- so I could protect humans like you." he explained and I drink again, noticed that the can was already empty so I grabbed another can and opened it.

"You are joking." I said and drink again.

"I am not, Aki." he quickly said.

"Then tell me, did you killed Lily?" I directly asked to him and I do not care if my life would be in danger but I need to know the truth right now, right in this time when he has the intention to tell me the truth.

"No! I did not kill her!" he exclaimed to me.

"Then who killed her? She was innocent, she do not know anything. We do not know anything." I exclaimed back to him.

"I know and I am investigating it!" he yelled and I paused, to see if he was deceiving me once again but it looks like he is not.

"What do you mean by that?" I calmly asked and he let out a deep sigh.

"Our pack received news that there is a rogue pack that turned their backs to the alpha, and they are targeting humans." he started explaining and I was just looking for him, waiting for more information.

"Alpha is my dad, and I was the next in line. Actually, Caleb and I were fighting for it, but we do not feed on humans." he continued and I nodded to him.

"Then, what Lynn mean when he said that I would be your Beta?" I directly asked and he acted surprised by it.

"That guy with a big mouth, I just planned it but will not happen." he answered and my forehead creases in confusion.

"Why not? I guess I am your only choice for the position." I said and he initially surprised by it with his eyes widen, but lastly smirked when he realized the point I was making here.

"You want to be involve in this mess. You cannot survive, human." he teasingly answered to me and I smirked to him.

"Then, try me werewolf." I answered and he chuckles.

This is insane, how could I immediately agree to his words and believe that he is actually a werewolf living in the middle of the city full of humans?

"I know this might sound crazy but can I your your wolf form?" I asked and he burst out laughing.

"I just needed to confirm it with my own eyes." I continued and he stood up, starting to take his clothes off.

"I do not want to buy more clothes because it keeps on ripping up." he said and I nodded. Then he position himself in the middle of the room, then a huge wolf howl as soon as his transformation happened in a snapped.

I was awed and numb at the same time, I felt fear, this is my first time seeing a wolf this up close and he started walking towards me, in which I dropped the can I am holding and started to move backwards while standing on my bed. He keeps showing his fangs, like he is grinning at me that I looked like a coward here. His first two feet moved up on the bed and now half of his body is leaning towards me.

"Alright, you can now go back on being a human." my voice cracked, I know it sounds badly and too embarrassing but I think I could piss on my pants if I did not say those words.

Then he went back without any signal, his eyes were straight looking towards me and his face was so close, the same way when his wolf form leaned towards me. It is so awkward, also with the fact that he does not have any clothes on to his body. I do not have the time to react when his hand moves towards on my side and he grins at me.

"You are trembling." he whispered to my ear and his breathe went down towards my spine, creating an unbelievable chill around my neck and shoulder. Then he pulled out the blanket behind me and wrapped it around his waist.

"I will buy you another one, I did not know that you will have me go back on being a human in that position." he said to me and my mind, also my soul went back and I clears my throat.

"You can have that, or just if it to me after laundry." I answered and started cleaning up the mess I did with the poured drinks on the floor.

"But admit it." he said and I stopped what I was doing, and looked on him.

"You was both afraid and amused at the same time." he said and his arrogant grin stays on his face.

"What do you mean 'afraid' and 'amused'?" I do not know what you are talking about." I answered and I just wanted to let this conversation came to an end.

"You both shivered and drooled, I get that reaction." he said and looked on his body, then glance over me. That action made me scoffed and I threw the can towards him, but he is agile and quick with his moves so he caught it and waved in front of me.

"Shut up, just tell me what could I help with your investigation." I said to him.

"I will tell you that tomorrow, but for now, can you say that you joined the foxes now?" he asked and I chuckles.

"I guess I did not have any other choice." I answered and both of us laughs.

Nicholas might not that bad as he seemed, and with the first impression I had with him.

The next day came and I noticed that Nicholas' bed was properly fixed and he is not here anymore. I looked on my side clock and I was freaking late! I sprang up from the bed and did my morning routines much faster that I could ever be. I put my clothes on and hurried down the stairs, run on the huge and wide outdoor lawn just to enter the class in which in a minute, I would be considered as late. I looked on my wrist watch and I ran hard as I could and made it in a buzzer beater time, I looked around and I saw Nicholas was standing in front and middle of the class and their attention was directed towards me.

"The man of the hour is now here, and he is officially under the foxes. Touch him and you would taste blood." he announced and I wanted to cover my face, I should not have this face and this name at the same time. People already knew me from the first day of classes, and no, I am officially Nicholas' underling. My life is surely not easy, I could say that.

The classes started and I still notice people's stares on me, I got no friends left here and I guess I am the only human living with them here right now. My life is always in danger and I should be pretending that I do not know any truth about it. But are the girls here are werewolves too? I mean, if that is the case then Scarlette is one too? She is at the party, she is close with Nicholas, and I guess she is Lily's leader too. Should I include her with the potential suspects who could be the person behind Lily's death, or is she the one I should kill?
