I still haven’t collected myself when Dr. Martin and I went back to the hospital from the Oasis.
“I have to go back to my office now. Take care on your way home. See you on our next appointment,” Dr. Martin said.
“Okay,” I answered thoughtlessly.
He stared at me. “You will be fine soon, Miss Madrid. Just trust me.”
The softness in his voice, a contrast to his cold outer disposition almost made me cry. I gave him a small smile and said my goodbye.
