Mason hissed under his breath for the umpteenth time as the trio kept searching for Anemone. Even Poppy did not know where she left. Poppy followed her, but Anemone was swifter. Someone tipped off Poppy, and she fell on her face. It was only because of Alex that she was still not in some hospital. He put some healing magic on her that stopped her bleeding. But the pain was still there.
"You should rest. Magic won't take away your pain." Alex mumbled. He knew he was taking some chances here. Poppy was a fierce one. He was glad that Poppy had not torn down his house apart after what happened to Anemone.
"I will rest when I know my friend is fine, thanks to your ass party. Now Anemone is missing!" Poppy rolled her eyes. Why had she not tried more to convince Anemone to stay back and finish that movie?
"Hey! It was a great party." Alex grumbled.
"Then why are we here, Alex?" Now it was Mason's turn to complain.
"Why did you even talk to that psychotic b***h?" Alex scoffed. So now all this was his fault? Mason knew Olivia was a bad sign. And yet, he fell right on her trap. They had discussed something like this, and Alex thought Mason understood. But clearly, Mason let his ego get the best of him.
"Why did you call her?" Mason grunted.
"Who? Olivia or Anemone." Alex furrowed his brows. Wasn't calling both of them his idea? He wanted to tell those nerve-clenching human bitches that Anemone was their friend, and so they should stay away from hurting her. But look how everything turned. Mason should have listened to his warnings.
"You both planned this?" Poppy scorned. No wonder Anemone was missing!
"Look, Fae girl. We did not plan this. But it happened." Alex rebuked. The contrasting character between both the Faeries astonished him.
"Like I believe it." Poppy spat.
"How can you and Anemone be so different? She is so kind and easygoing." Alex rasped.
"Because she allows people like you to trample over her feelings all the time. I am more careful." Poppy rolled her eyes.
"But you are not friendly!" Alex complained.
"And why do you think I should befriend you? For making my friend cry?" Poppy stomped her foot as she gave a death glare. She looked furious.
"Can you both shut up? I think it's Anemone, over there." Mason looked up at the trees.
Anemone was sitting on one branch and sobbing. Her fairy wings were flapping from time to time, making a ruffling sound. It was one of the most beautiful things Mason had ever seen in his life. Anemone's wings were all shades of purple with some hints of pink in them. It gave her an appearance of a butterfly in that tutu dress. Her open violet hair suited her wings, Mason thought.
"God! Is that her wings? Where was she hiding it all this time?" Alex gawked.
"We are shifters dumb!" Poppy exclaimed.
Alex's stupidity amazed poppy. He was ludicrous for someone so famous. Poppy wondered if all popular kids were like them! Awkward with no common sense.
"Can you both please keep quiet! I am tired." Mason said in a bored tone.
Mason climbed the tree swiftly. He did not have wings to fly to that branch, but he had years of practice. In no time, he was sitting next to Anemone, who had swollen, puffy red eyes from all that crying.
"I am sorry. I should have never left you. I knew something like that would happen, and I still left." Mason apologized.
"They are so mean." Anemone sobbed.
"They are." Mason agreed.
"When I was coming out, someone said you still loved Olivia, and I was..." Anemone burst into another round of tears.
"Anemone, Olivia, and I were never together." Mason tried to comfort her. There was no need for him to explain to her, but he felt the urge to do so.
But suddenly, a blue fairy was floating in front of them, sparing death glares directed towards Mason.
"Poppy!" Anemone whimpered.
"Ane, let's get you back home." Poppy ignored Mason and talked to her friend.
"But I want to be with Mason." Anemone rebuked. Mason's heart fluttered at that.
"You heard her." Alex groaned from below. Poppy scoffed and looked at her friend. When Anemone nodded her head assuringly, she went down. Even though Poppy was very unwilling, she had to leave with Alex.
"I don't always agree with Poppy, but I think you should get back home," Mason said.
"Will you walk with me?" Anemone looked at him with big disconcerting eyes.
The walk for the first few minutes was full of uncomfortable silence. Anemone was not the type who kept her emotions in check. She is the talkative one. Mason would only stand by and keep listening to her. But this silence was weighing on him.
"I am not with her," Mason uttered suddenly.
"I know. You told me already." Anemone giggled.
Her answer baffled Mason. If she already believed her, then why was she acting so strange! Plus, did she mean that? It did not matter what species the girls belonged from; the girls don't trust so easily.
"Then why are you so silent?" Mason inquired.
"I am not sure if I should say it to you." Anemone looked down.
That girl even told how Mason and Olivia were so in love before a minor misunderstanding happened. Mason was Olivia's first kiss, and she plans to be his last. The girl also showed some photos of them together. That girl even said that a dumb girl like Anemone could never have someone like Mason. Fairy tales might happen in Fae village, but this was some actual world where someone like her has no place or chance.
"Anemone, if you don't want to tell, I won't force you. But if it is bothering you too much, then you should." Mason retorted.
"Were you her first kiss?" Anemone suddenly stopped to ask him.
Mason sighed. Whoever filled her in did an excellent job.
"Yes, at least, that's what she told me. We have slept a few times too. But it was nothing. She pursued me hard, and it was all hormonal. But then I cut her off. After that, she has been spreading lies about us being together." Mason sighed.
But before Anemone could react, he continued, " I am not a good guy like you assume me to be. She is not the only one I had s*x with."
"Hmm..." Anemone did not seem to answer anything apart from that.
Anemone walked few steps, analyzing something in her head. Mason stood still, wondering why he was feeling the way he was. He had never felt the need to explain anyone. Mason was a thug who cared for no one so intensely. He kind of restricted himself from feeling such overwhelming, exasperating emotions. Even though Mason never bullied or belittled anyone, Mason was always the reckless kind. He was extremely good at sports and had a superb physique. He was popular, despite his attitude. So it was ever easy for him to get girls to let some steam off without getting too involved. But with Anemone, he felt differently.
Ever since Mason met Anemone, this Fae has completely hijacked his mind. He could no longer go on dates or feel like getting close to another girl. The more he spends time with her, the more he wanted to.
No one ever dared to talk anything directly to him because of his aggressive attitude. When did Mason learn about that boy from the party who had made that d**k comment? Mason thrashed that boy so badly that he might not walk properly for a few days now.
"Are you interested in anyone?" Anemone gaped.
"No." Mason was not sure where this was all going.
"Good. I am a Fae. I can not lie. So when that girl asked me if I liked you, I had to tell the truth." Anemone was now looking scared.
"What did you tell her?" Mason asked, giving no expression.
"Will you go on a date with me?" Anemone asked.
"Date? No way." Mason chuckled.
"Why?" She felt hurt.
"Anemone, you are not like those girls. You don't want to be with someone like me. I might appear good to you, but I hit people and kick their asses." Mason tried to make her understand. Faeries are kind-hearted people who hated violence. But Mason's life was full of them, off the field and on the field.
"But I have never seen you fighting!" Anemone exclaimed.
"That boy who passed that d**k comment is probably lying in the hospital now." Mason simply wanted to give an example.
But it only made Anémone squeal. She was jumping in ecstasy like a little kid. So innocent and immature, he thought!
"You did that for me?" She hugged him two-three times out of excitement.
"Yes. But next time, I hope it is you." Mason huffed.
"But I don't want to hurt anyone." Anemone started.
"But these d***s need this, Ane. At least carry a pepper spray. And learn some self-defense." Mason taught her a move.
"But will you not fight for me next time?" Anemone blinked her eyes in anticipation.
"I will. But you must learn to take care of yourself. Promise me." Mason insisted.
Anemone weighed her pros and cons and agreed to.
They walked the rest of their path in complete silence, except for few random questions from Anemone. All she wanted to do then was convince Mason to go on a date with her. But every time she tried to bring that, he would turn her down. But she was persistent.
When they reached the front of her house, she sighed. She did not want to leave him and go inside. At least, not with those overwhelming erratic feelings.
"What is it, now?" Mason nodded his head in encouragement.
"How does it feel to kiss, Mason?" Anemone queried. She was anxious that Mason would turn down her question again. But it startled him instead.
"You have never kissed?" Mason gasped.
"No." Anemone blushed.
Her cheeks were a shade redder, and she was looking down while playing with her fingers. In that tutu dress, she looked like a little angel. Mason swallowed hard, looking at her plump, luscious rosy lips. They were kind of begging to get kissed. He could feel his throat tighten as another lump of saliva formed in his mouth.
"Please go inside." Mason stammered. He was struggling to stand still. He felt like pulling her to his arms and crashing his lips on her. But that would be too reckless.
"Am I not kissable?" Anemone pouted.
This time Anemone was looking into Mason's eyes. Her purple eyes held too many emotions and doubts.
"I know I look like a clown. You don't even want to go on a date with me." Anemone sulked a bit and turned to leave when Mason held her hands.
Her eyes popped out as she looked at him with hope. Mason pulled her to him and swallowed hard. He stared at her delicate lips as his hands crawled behind her narrow waist.
"Are you sure?" Mason whispered.
Anemone closed her eyes in response. She wanted nothing more than that kiss. She gulped hard and nodded a yes.
Bing! Mason wrapped her lips with his, sucking and biting them. Anemone was new, so she did not know that she needed to give an entrance to Mason. But when a soft moan escaped her lips, Mason did not miss the chance. He invaded her mouth, exploring every corner. His tongue swirled around, trying to r****h her mouth.
Sparks exploded inside Anemone as she wobbled. Her stomach felt funny as she could feel tiny butterflies inside. It was only because of Mason that she was still standing. It was a long kiss before they broke apart, panting for air. But before Mason could recoil, Anemone was on her toes, kissing back Mason with more passion and need.
Anemone wondered if she was going to get addicted to these kisses. It was too good!
