Sera was getting mad now. She had decided that she would drive down to the police station and call Jason Blaze out! She would blow his perfect image.
She knew that everyone thought that he was all that. He was just a huge ego maniac, jerk. She was determined to find him.
She was driving down toward the police station when she suddenly heard spirit. She was fighting the connection.
"No!-not now," she yelled. She pulled over so she didn't crash as the vision became stronger. He needs you. She cried out, "Who? Landen?" She wasn't given any information on "who."
Drive! the female voice commanded. She started to drive. She felt the directions to where she was going now. She didn't hear any voices. Sera seemed to know where to go, it was as if she had an internal Siri system.
She turned around and started to drive past her home, as she went by she was saying the directions out loud.
The thing that she was looking for. It was like an overpass-something, no- it was for storms, a storm drain. She searched the road for a manhole.
She sensed the darkness around him, underground then. She saw a flash of graffiti. Getting closer. Sera parked in front of a large above ground culvert. It was over grown with bushes and blackberry brambles. She felt his heart race, he was running. She waited .......
She watched, checking her mirrors, where? "Tell me!" she yelled out loud.
She felt out of breath, he was running. She got out of the car now. She ran to the end of the culvert, she took off her coat and used it to remove the blackberry bushes. "Ouch, damn it!" She was bleeding now. Little pricks and lines on her hands and arms where the sharp thorns had cut her.
She was feeling frantic now. She cleared the way. She heard him now. He was running full speed. He emerged out of the culvert, he wasn't a bit surprised to see her, he grabbed her bloody hand and raced to her car.
Jason Blaze pulled her, "run!" They jumped into her car he told her to get down, he held her down in the passenger seat as bullets riddled her car.
He pulled the emergency break as he had learned in his training. He skid around the corner. He was driving so fast. His heart was beating in the same rhythm of Sera's.
She tried to focus on slowing it down. He looked at her then, "You okay, did you get hurt, check under your arm. Your bleeding everywhere." She just shook her head. She didn't feel any wounds, that would come later.
Sera sank down in the passenger seat. She felt him calming. He drove her home and dropped her off. "Close the door, lock it." He pulled out in her car and left.
She was a mess. She ran into her father on the way in. He was eating some salad, he dropped his bowl shattering it on the stone flooring.
He ran her into the bathroom and began to wash her off. He checked her for wounds, most were just superficial. She looked like she was in shock now. Silver had seen patients go into shock. He spoke to her in low soothing tones. He didn't even ask her what had happened. He feared the worst. Maybe car jacked and raped? He didn't want to think about that, not his angel, his Seraphina.
She blinked now and came back to her senses. She said, "Blaze."That was all he needed, he was going into a rage now. All he could think of was his poor girl being hurt by that man.
He dressed her wounds. She touched his arm. "Daddy, he needs help. He's in trouble." Silver nodded. Though he didn't really understand her. He felt her arm on his chest, she was slowing down his heart beat.
She was calming him. It was all she could take, she passed out then. Silver picked up his daughter and tucked her into his big bed. He called his wife Carol. He sounded terrible and he stopped several times during the call to prevent his voice from cracking. She told him she would be right home. She had been shopping.
Sera slept and dreamed. She saw Blaze get into trouble in that culvert, it was a trap. The girl had known he was a cop, she'd seen him before. They lured him in there, at a different opening though. He'd ran from them. He was panicking. He felt her near by. He knew she was there, somehow. She slowed her breathing, then opened her eyes.
She had to talk to him. She tried his social media. She left several messages. Blaze, please call me, please tell me you are safe.
She had felt him back there. It was as natural to her as looking at herself in the mirror, she recognized his soul. Spirit had led her to him. She decided to call Landen. He didn't answer. She sent him a text message. Call me please ASAP!
He didn't respond.
She remembered that this was a work night for him, he was probably sleeping. She heard a ding on her cell.
It was him. He said, "I'm okay, how about you?"
She was relieved. But she had so many questions to ask Blaze. She no longer called him by his first name, her gut told her that he was called Blaze.
Her parents heard her stir and came and sat down beside her. She said, "I want to explain what happened, I'm processing it myself." She put her hands to her temples, rubbing. Spirit came through. Seraphina, it all begins now. She nodded. Silver pulled her close.
She told them the whole story. They both believed her now. Even her stubborn father. Her mother wrote it all in her journal. They went out to the kitchen to try and have dinner, act normally.
She was frowning. "He said he was okay, but where's my car now?" She laughed out loud, more of a hysterical laugh. Her mother poured her a large glass of rose'
"Drink this." she said.
Landen text her back, he was sorry about missing her call. He invited her to come down to the radio station to sit in on his show. She didn't want to tell him that her car was stolen by Officer Blaze today.
She told him she had been drinking and for him to " break a leg." He put on one heck of a show too. Sera tuned in, mainly as a distraction. He was taking calls now. She was going to dial the number that he had given to her. She heard him take a caller.
"This is Lando on WKLOVE, talk to me!" There was silence on the other end. He prompted for a response, "This is Lando, talk to me." The caller swore at him and hung up. He chuckled." Well Lando ain't everyone's cup of tea. Next caller!" Sera spoke to him. "Hey Lando, it's your number one here, can you play I've put a spell on you, by screaming Jay?" He smiled, hearing Sera's voice- you got it beautiful. He went off the microphone. "Can we meet up later?"
She nodded, then said, "Oh my car got taken."
He said, "hold on I only got a minute here. You mean stolen?"
"Well, Blaze is driving it."
"Girl wait, what?"he asked. "OK. meet me at Middleton tonight at 1am, take your mom's car?" She agreed.
Blaze parked Sera's small sedan in the back of his home. He tried to hide it from street view. Something went terribly wrong, he wanted to view his hidden camera and listen to the recordings that he had taken in that rat hole.
He thought he'd heard a familiar voice. He played the tape rewinding it several times. He knew he was set up. It was all wrong from the start. His instinct was to walk away, but he was trying to impress the brass. It was a set up and he swore he heard commander John beard on that tape. Clear as a bell."Do it now!" He replayed it over and over.
His phone buzzed, it was her. He knew she would contact him. Blaze, please call me, please tell me you are safe. He had to tell her he was fine and asked her how she was. He swore to himself he wouldn't talk to her, he would just return her car to her quietly. Now it begins, he thought. He knew his dreams were coming true. He saw her face in agony as he ran to get to her.
He had dreamt that part over and over for years. He was a little sad that he could not shield her. He tried so hard not to talk to her, for years. He had kept tabs on her. He had followed her throughout her life. He even went to the police academy thinking he could somehow protect her. He was so surprised to see her that day in the park. He kept it short and sweet, he wanted to hold her, seeing her poor face after she had gotten sprayed with pepper spray.
His heart dropped thinking she had gotten married. He was relieved she hadn't. Still he walked away. Blaze always walked away from her.
