Believe me now!

Chapter 4 Seraphina gets tested.

Sera woke up feeling refreshed. She dressed carefully in a white cotton dress shirt with a yellow sweater and short grey skirt.

She was going in the hospital for a brain scan. Silver Haven MD had arranged for his daughter Seraphina to be seen for a scan to determine if she had normal brain waves when she supposedly talked to the spirit word, or if she had something wrong with her.

She had agreed to the scan, mainly because she knew that she was not crazy.

She was taken to a room where they put gel on her head and a type of cap with electrodes all over it.

When the tester presented her with puzzles to solve, they measured the functioning of her brain.

Dr. Jane Corden was doing the testing. She asked Sera to hold some of the staffs personal items to see if it triggered anything. She picked up a gold ring and twisted it around her finger. Nothing unusual happened.

She picked up a photo of someone's kids. No changes. Dr. Corden saved the best for last. It was a piece of metal from the bottom of the ocean.

Seraphina turned the object over in her hands. Immediately the monitor lit up showing cerebral cortex action. Seraphina began to feel someone coming through. It was a female. She heard her say, "Is anyone coming to rescue us, so cold." Sera rubbed her head at her temples. She responded, "Where are you?" The woman told her," We went down, we had to get into the life rafts. There was horrible screaming. Everyone fought to get into the boats. There weren't enough boats. Can you tell my family where I am?" Sera told her, "Your name please?" She responded Jane Winston.

"Jane, you passed away. Do you see a light ahead of you?" Sera could see that the woman had a white aura around her now."Step into that light please." The woman did as she was told and the connection was severed, as were the lights shining on the screen.

Dr.Corden was quite impressed. She turned to Silver. Your daughter has something very special. I'd like to test her further. The areas of activation that occur when she has those private conversations, especially when she rubs her temples.

It seems that this is a way for her to control the situation. Like tuning in a radio frequency. Yes very unusual, unusual indeed."

Silver told her she would have to ask Seraphina if she wanted to do more testing. He was perplexed as to why she had this happening to her. He did have to agree that there was something to it. She was special.

Seraphina was excited! She told Dr.Corden that she had an encounter with a woman named Jane or Jean Winston? who had drowned.

Dr. Corden nodded,"I wondered if that piece of metal would trigger you. It was a gift from one of my students. It is a relic from the Titanic.

Sera nodded,"Yes, she explained that to me. I knew it was the Titanic by the way she described it. Not enough life boats. Oh so tragic."

"Sera, how did you terminate the connection?"asked Dr.Cordon.

"Well, I sent her to God." The whole room was quiet now. It was a bit to believe that someone could talk to a dead person. Sera put her head down, she was used to criticism. She let them think what they wanted to. Dr.Corden asked her to return next week. Sera agreed.

Silver drove her home and bought her a coffee on the way. He reached out and grabbed her arm. "Listen, you don't have to go back there, I mean your not a test rat or anything." She nodded. Not sure she wanted to continue as it wiped her out each time.

Dr Corden had invited her to return next week. She decided that she would make an appointment with her and proceed. She wanted to know more about her gift. For whatever reason, after her high-school accident, she was now able to connect to things unseen. She was getting ready to call Landen when her phone rang. "Hello?"

"This is Georgia, Jim Castle was just found, dead. It's all over the news. Might be suspicious. I think you should go to the cops and tell them what you know."

Sera said, "What do I know?" Georgia said, "Well, that day in the restaurant, that was probably the last day anyone had seen him, I mean he wasn't on the 5 o'clock news, or any other time slot after that, I've been watching for him."

Sera raised a thin brown eye brow. "I will call an acquaintance I know down at the police station. If they want me to come in and, (she paused to gulp) tell them my encounter with him, I certainly will do it."

Georgia told her goodbye and that she hoped to see her soon and ended the call. Sera thought that maybe she just wanted to be her friend to get the gossip on Jim Castle.

She went to the kitchen and sat down to drink some water. Her mother came in then. "What's up kiddo?" Her mother asked her, seeing Sera frowning in her glass of water. "Well, it appears that the weather guy just died, I had an encounter with him recently at the Middleton restaurant. He was walking by and I got a message for him."

"Yes I recall that we spoke about that one," Carol said. Sera swallowed a drink of water. "Georgia called and said I should go to the cops."

"Hmm, not sure that would help any, Sera." She replied. Sera put down her glass. "Well, I ran into Jason Blaze yesterday, he looks sexy as ever.The thing is he's a cop now, maybe I should message him, see if it's important."

Sera felt like it was time to reach out to Jason. She felt like their paths would be crossing again soon. She just needed to voice it. Carol patted her daughters shoulder. "I think that might open up too many wounds for you, old hurts from your high school days, the way he treated you after the accident, ghosted you."

"Mom, you have to have a relationship with someone prior to them ghosting you for that to be a thing." Carol threw her head back and laughed. Sera finished her conversation with her mother and went to her room. She decided to text Landen.

He replied, Who Dat?

She giggled, Dat is our local TV news weatherman, he died. Interestingly enough, I spoke to him recently at the Middleton restaurant. Her phone rang, it was Landen. "Spill the tea!" She said, "Well Landen, I got a message from spirit when I saw him, I told him the message, then I touched him and he ran away from me as fast as he could, he wasn't on TV after that, my friend Georgia told me so."

"Yas girl, go to the cops, ooh call the hunky one, Jason he's cute!" Sera laughed out loud. Landen was so funny. "Thanks, I will see you later then."

"Does that mean you will take the job offer?" He asked her. "Let me think about it, I'll call you tonight when you go live, give me the number to call in to your radio show."

He gave her his direct line. She ended the call.

Sera decided she would text officer Blaze on his social media. Hey it's Seraphina Haven, can you call me please. might have something to offer on the Jim Castle case. She added her contact number. He never called. Now she felt ghosted.

Officer Jason Blaze was deep undercover, he was working with the gang unit trying to find the source of a huge shipment of meth that was saturating the community. He had a meeting with a girl named Jenny.

She was supposed to get him into a large buy. That's how it worked. The undercover agent bought the drugs, wore a wire and small camera on a hidden device to catch it all for the judge, then boom a sting went down. He was at the buying part of the equation. He pulled his baseball cap low and sauntered forward. He was hot for it. He was all hyped up to make this deal. He wanted to prove to his commanding officer that he had what it took to transition from beat cop, giving out citations, to undercover detective. He was ready.

When this assignment came to him suddenly when the previous agent had to get out as his cover was nearly blown by an informant he had known, Jason grabbed the bull by the horns and jumped all in.

Now here he was following a contact named Jenny- under ground in a watershed tunnel. Graffiti lined the walls. It was dark. He used his cell phone as a light. She motioned for him to walk straight into the abyss of darkness, he had to trust her at this point.

He heard a noise behind him and jumped. It was just a large rodent, scurrying by as his shoe had brushed it.
