1523 Words
Sera borrowed her mother's car to meet Landen at the Middleton restaurant. He was still hyped up from his shift at the radio station. Sera ordered a chocolate milk shake. She needed some comfort food. Landen ordered Steak and potatoes. He was so happy to see her. She was looking a bit rough from all of the scratches on her arms and hands. Landen rubbed her hands in his big hands. She felt comforted by this man. He cut a piece of his steak up into pieces and made her eat it off of his fork. She was awfully thin. She took the food like a baby bird. She was growing quite fond of this big guy that took care of her and never judged her. He was smitten with her as well. They complimented each other. Best friends forever, BFF. She never had such a good friend. In return he was loving taking care of her. "So, I was going to tell Blaze off, and I got the hinky feelings while driving. At first I thought you were in trouble, then I wasn't sure who was in trouble. It wasn't until Blaze came running out of that culvert, did I fully realize that it was actually Blaze." "Can I ask you a question? I mean why are you calling him Blaze now, instead of Jason?" She shook her head. " Spirit told me that was his name," she replied. " Ah, Okay but why?" She shook her head as her hair flowed around her head." Damn girl, you are pretty," he told her. "I am not sure. But to tell you the truth, Landen I feel a connection to him, I think he feels it too. You should have seen him in my car. It was really supernatural feeling, like I could control his breathing some how. Anyway he responded to my text and that was pretty big for Blaze. I wonder where my car is,"she said. "Oh, do you have one of those low jack thingys to track it down?"He offered. She shook her head- no and yawned now from all of the carbs. "We better get you home, you've been through so much," he told her, rubbing her arm. She gave him a big hug and left to go to her mother's car. She climbed in. He wave good bye from his car. She sat there a moment, she had felt him, there in the dark. She said, "When do I get my car back?" He said," I think they might try to track you down, if they find your car." She said,"Who are they?" He shook his head moving his black hair side to side,"How did you know I was in your back seat?" She shrugged and said," What's the use, you won't believe me anyway." He sneered,"Don't think I don't feel it too." She turned around to face him."You do? How long?" He said,"Since the accident. The moment that I held you in the rain that day." She asked the obvious question,"how come you never talked to me again, I felt like I had the plague." He told her,"My parents- the lawyers, they told me that you would sue us if I admitted it was my fault, and it was. I was just a boy, I was stupid. You don't know how much I wanted to pick you up and walk you up that stage to get your diploma?" She nodded."Thanks for that, at least. What now?"she wondered. He told her to drive. She started to pull away, he climbed over the back seat and plopped into the front. He said,"I'm sorry about today, or yesterday, now- it's late." She said,"okay, where to?" "Do you need to call your folks?"he worried. She said she would, but she had snuck out. "They are probably asleep now,"she said. She gripped the steering wheel and drove out of town towards their old grade school. She pulled around back and parked. She turned to him."Blaze, I was coming to the police station to tell you off for not responding to my text. I got a message, spirit told me to go to you, I was guided to you. I have dreams about you, every night," she whispered to him, there in the dark. He nodded. He knew. "I dream about you too." She blushed. He put his hand out to her. She held his hand. She was feeling butterflies in her stomach now. "It's like we are in school all over again." He smiled at her. She pulled her hand away. He took it back. He said," not yet." He hadn't wanted her to pull away just yet. He was finally with her. It was like a magnet drawing him to her. This was all new to him, I mean she was living in a world where she talked to dead people and thought it was normal. He lived in the real world. He couldn't explain their pull to each other. But he didn't call it a spirit thing. He was very attracked to her physically, that he knew. He especially liked it when she had called him Blaze. It was what she had called him in some of his dreams that he'd had about her. He could see that she was exhausted, so he told her that they better get her home. She could drop him off on the way. She drove past an auto parts store. He told her he had parked his motorcycle back there. She dropped him off, he said he would call her,"I'll be in touch." She drove home. Her mother was up reading, waiting for her. "So, you borrowed my car?" Sera told her about her late dinner with Landen and her surprise guest, Blaze. Her mother nodded and listened. She was Sera's mother and her biggest supporter. She told her mother everything. Her mother never judged her. She just loved her. "Next time text me please?" Sera walked to her apartment and lay in her bed. Her eyes fluttered closed. He texted her,"Sleep well Seraphina." She was so tired that she ghosted him. The next day Sera's dad came to her room and knocked," Hey you up? Can we talk?I don't think it's a good idea for you to go back to Dr.Corden. I think it might have been too much for you. Maybe that caused the episode." He was thinking like a doctor again. He needed answers that he could measure. He needed facts. She yawned and stretched. He winced when he saw the scratches on her arms. Sera please stay home today, your mother was up until 4am waiting for you. She nodded. She didn't think that he knew that she was out. She asked him if he could bring her some orange juice. Mainly so he had a way to take care of her. She heard a car pull up. She jumped up to look out the window. It was him. She pulled on some sweat pants and put her hair up. Her dad walked out to talk to him. She saw them walking into the house. She waited for him to knock on her door. He did not. She went down stairs to meet him. He was not there. She walked around the house. Then she heard him talking in soft tones to her father. They were out on the deck. He was nodding as he listened to Silver talk as he raised his hands a few times, then rubbed his hand through his graying hair. Silver had jet black hair, but sported gray wings on each side. He looked handsome. She decided she would let them talk. She yawned and went back to bed. She was tired of waiting, she actually fell asleep and dreamed Blaze took her away from her home. He had asked her father for permision. He took her to keep her safe. Sera didn't want to go, she needed to keep near Landen. She needed to find a way to save him from the evil one that was coming. Sera woke up to see Blaze sitting in her room. He had his feet up on her bed. He was scrolling through his messages. She stretched, he saw her flat stomach. She pulled her shirt down subconsciously. "Hmm, how long have you been here watching me sleep?" He teased her,"you didn't know I was here?" She scratched her head, "Well, yes and no.I saw you talking with dad and I admit I was just dreaming about you. You told my dad that you wanted to take me away, we got in a fight. I wanted to stay." "Why did we fight in your dream-what makes you want to stay here?"he asked. "Blaze, I had a vision of my friend Landen, I saw him lying dead at the radio station. Someone evil was there. I didn't see who it was." He nodded. "I want you to come away with me for a while." Sera picked up her pillow and put it over her head. She didn't want that dream to be true. She wanted to stay close to Landen.
