Chapter 5

344 Words
They’d found him. Or at least, where he was going to be. Raina and Sera met at the local hospital, speaking with an orderly who was familiar with The Malgoth. Humans were generally reluctant to give demons access to their sick, but thankfully this particular human understood the situation. He led them to their worst cases, allowing Raina a moment with each to absorb their injuries and illness. In doing so she healed them, but felt herself grow weaker with each malady she took in. She took in a broken leg from a twelve year old girl, a brain tumour from an elderly man, liver cancer from a woman who was only in her twenties. Raina could do amazing work when needed, the only issue was needing somewhere to put the illnesses afterwards. They would eventually begin to manifest in Raina if she didn’t release them into another body. Raina started taking blindness from a middle aged man, when she started to feel faint. Sera caught her by the arm and held her up. “That’s enough” Sera said, gently leading Raina out of the hospital. “What if it isn’t enough to stop Dazomar?” Raina felt guilty and useless, she could have absorbed more. “It doesn’t matter, I’m not having you dying for this”. Sera was sweet as always. There was a time limit on Raina’s power, so they had to get to Dazomar’s location quickly. Sera drove a slick red Mercedes, not the fastest car in the world but the way Sera drove could’ve convinced Raina otherwise. When they arrived, fighting had already begun. Dazomar wasn’t there yet but his minions were. They’d chosen one of The Malgoth’s meeting points, an old recreation centre outside of town. It hadn’t been used by humans for decades and was held up by rusted nails and rotting wood. Inside were flashes of light as spellcasters flung fire and lightning at each other. Raina and Sera rushed in, finding a place near the front door to hide before Dazomar came in.
