Chapter 7: Dinner

I couldn’t help but turn a little and sneak a glance over at Derek, he was just so, so, ugh. I know it’s wrong to think of your friend as something more and he’s never led me on, but I just couldn’t help liking him as more than just a friend. I know that in a few months I would probably be meeting my mate and he’d become the love of my life, but for now I would just love Derek, even if it was in secret.

When he shifted into his wolf I thought that he looked magnificent and I just had to touch his fur, it looked so soft and nice, and it felt like a very comfy pillow when I ran my hands through his thick black fur. When he offered me to ride on top of him I was ecstatic, he was running so fast I felt like I was flying, I never wanted him to stop. The wind caressing my face and my hands just felt so right.

We came to a stop that was just over a cliff overlooking the forest that stretched for miles and miles. England had many beautiful places but looking at the forest was one of my favorite things to do, and this place felt magical. No one was around except for the woodland creatures that lived in the forest, we were alone surrounded by trees.

“Eliezer, thank you for letting me ride on your back, you are such a magnificent wolf, I can’t wait to get my own and feel what you feel when you’re running, just letting the wind touch me like it did was an amazing experience, thank you” I said to him “You’re welcome” I heard Derek’s voice through his magical link, but for some reason his voice sounded deeper, more masculine, it must be Eliezer speaking to me and not Derek.

He laid down on the ground and before me he started shifting again, I braced myself to see him in all his glory but was a little disappointed when he had smoke covering his body. “So, you really liked the run huh?” Derek asked smiling at me “are you kidding, I’m never going to forget this moment” I smiled back at him. “Good, neither am I.”

She looked so happy, and her smile was so intoxicating it was rubbing up on me, there was something about her that I just couldn’t get her off my mind and I didn’t want this to end. Then it dawned on me, I wanted to be with Vanessa, I wanted her to be my chosen mate, but would she want me back? What would I do if my mate actually showed up tonight? I needed to speak with my mom.

We sat down over the cliff and just looked out into the forest not saying anything, this was nice and relaxing. The atmosphere of this place was indescribable, but it would be lunch soon and we would have to start heading back, guest would start arriving and I would have to be there to greet them.

I sighed and looked at her as she looked up to the sky with her eyes closed, I wanted to remember the way she looks forever. “Hey” I said trying not to startle her “I love this place, sometimes I come here by myself and just think, it relaxes me” she said, “yeah I know exactly how you feel, but we should start getting back, it’s almost lunch time” I had to force the words out of my mouth “yeah, can I ride on Eliezer again?” she asked with another one of her smiles and I couldn’t deny her.

I let her get off right at the edge of the forest, I turned back to where I had taken off my clothes and got dressed again. By the time I made it into the dining room many guests had already arrived. Aunt Odalis was here with Kage, Uncle Dominick with Raven, Wesley, Grandpa Cole, Alphas Joshua, and Jason and all of their kids as well. It was definitely a full table, and it was going to make this party one Hell of a one, and these were just the people we were closest with.

“Derek, nice of you to finally join us, where have you been?” my sister joked “hey everyone, sorry I’m late I went out for a run and lost track of time” “don’t worry about it, I remember the first time I got my wolf i felt like I had only ran for a few minutes, turned out it was more like hours” Wesley said, “yeah being in your wolf form is hard to tell time at first, but you’ll eventually get the hang of it” Jack said smiling at me.

I smiled at both of them and took a seat next to Leon, everyone congratulated me on my birthday, Ciara had already gotten all the compliments from them earlier since I was late for lunch. “So your mother was telling us that you chose a new Beta for the pack, why not let Vanessa take over for her father?” Aunt Odalis was staring daggers at me “It wasn’t really my choice” I said not really wanting to go into it.

“Oh really, you know I was going to become Alpha of my father’s pack-“ “I know the story aunt Odalis, everyone does, Kage was going to be Alpha and you his Luna, but you turned down the position and gave it to Wesley, I know my history, besides if your mate would have been an Alpha you would’ve had no choice but to leave with him, can we drop the subject please? I really don’t want to talk about this issue anymore.” “Fine” she said very childlike, I know she’s only in her mid-thirties, but she still looked and acted like she was a teen.

Actually everyone in this group except for Joshua and Jason stopped aging or were aging slower than what the norm was. It was all thanks to either being a vampire or having magic to help slow down the time. For my parents it was my mother’s vampire side, even though my dad was going to age slower she didn’t want to risk ever losing him of old age and decided to turn him as well.

 For my aunt Odalis it was her magic that Kage gifted her with, he was thousands of years old and was the most powerful Warlock ever to exist, well aside from my mom that is, at least until my siblings and I will surpass them, but who knows when that would be, we were destined to be more powerful than she would ever be.

After lunch, the guys and I went to the game room to play some video games before the party, the girls went shopping because they wanted to look their best for tonight, I don’t know what their deal was about clothes, but I didn’t mind as long as I never got to go with them ever again. My sister had dragged me with her once and I thought I was going to die of boredom.
