Chapter 6: Feelings

               After the meeting I went out to look for Vanessa so that I could show her my wolf, as one of my closest friends I was excited for her to see him “you seem to like her” I heard Eliezer say “huh?” “Vanessa, you seem to like her” he said again “well, we’ve been friends since we were born, of course I like her” “I don’t mean that way, I mean you have an attraction to her.”

               I stopped in my tracks “what makes you think that?” I asked curiously “when she kissed you, you felt different and I can’t help but like her too” “well in case you haven’t searched through my memories yet, my mate is somewhere out there, and Vanessa is just my friend. Even if I liked her I wouldn’t pursue her, I’ve broken a lot of girl’s hearts and hers is one that I wouldn’t bare if it happened” I said sadly.

               Eliezer might have been right, but Vanessa was special to me, and besides, she also has her mate somewhere out there. I almost found mine a few weeks ago and I was hoping to actually find her tonight. A mate bond is special, and I was going to treasure that, and Vanessa would always remain my friend and I would also treasure that because a friend like her is a real treasure to have.

               I tried sniffing her out but for some reason her scent was not hitting me, what the hell? I thought to myself. “Now that you think about it I didn’t smell her earlier when she stopped us on the way to the meeting” my shadow said, “what do you mean?” “Think about it, now that Eliezer is here we should have been able to smell her more, but we haven’t been able to and I’m now just realizing it.”

               This was definitely something weird going on here, I took my phone out and called her “hey Derek” she answered on the second ring “hey were you at?” I asked her “I’m just leaving the kitchen, meet me out back?” “Yeah, I’ll be right there.” I hung up the phone and headed towards the side door that led to the back of the pack house, there she was sitting on a bench eating some muffins.

               “Want one?” she handed me one “always” I smiled “did you steal these from the cooks?” I laughed “it’s not stealing if they’re making them for the whole pack” I laughed again, she was always taking deserts when she had the chance and somehow was never caught, or the cooks didn’t say anything about it, because if there was someone that loved their baking more than anyone it was her.

               When I finished my muffin I stole another one from her earning myself a glare that made me laugh even more, there was just something about the way she looked with her mouth full, it was cute and funny. “So you ready to see my wolf?” I asked her, at this Eliezer perked up and felt very excited for some reason “yes I want her to see me, let’s go right now!” he was way too excited.

               “Hell yeah I’m ready, you and Ciara are the first to get your wolves out of all of us, this is exciting!” We walked for a little while into the forest until we came to a stop “ok don’t freak out but I’m going to have to get naked before I shift, I’m not really looking forward to shredding more of my clothes” I said nervously scratching the back of my head.

               She laughed and turned around so that I could remove my clothes, the whole time I was undressing I couldn’t help but think of how sweet her laugh way, and her voice it sounded different, good different like it was singing to my soul. Oh what the f**k am I thinking, I cannot think of her this way, I have a mate out there somewhere and hopefully she’ll be coming to the party tonight. I needed to stop thinking of Vanessa, she’s my friend and that’s it.

               When I finished removing my clothes I let Eliezer take over, this time the shift wasn’t painful, it was smooth and exhilarating. When I looked up at Vanessa she was already turned and looking at me, I couldn’t read the expression on her face, she moved slowly to me and started petting my fur. Eliezer was loving her touch he even started purring. “I’m sorry, your fur just looked very soft, I couldn’t help myself” using my magic link I asked her “and was it just as soft as you thought it would be?” “it was more” she smiled “do you want to go for a run with me?” I asked her “how?” she asked confused “just jump on top of me and hold on tight Eliezer is really fast” “Eliezer, I like that name.”

               Eliezer purred again; he really liked the way Vanessa complimented him. I crouched down and let her climb on top of me “ready?” I asked her “ready” she said back to me, and I started running. I could hear her laughing “woo, this is amazing!” she yelled as I felt her hand loosen up on my fur a little bit, I turned my head and glanced at her.

    Her eyes were closed and there was a big smile plastered on her face, her hands were outstretched and feeling the wind run through her fingers. I couldn’t help but think of how beautiful she looked, and a thought passed through my mind, why couldn’t she have been my mate? I quickly brushed it off though, how could I think like that and insult our moon goddess, whoever she picked for me would be perfect and I would treasure her forever. But still I couldn’t deny anymore that I also felt something for Vanessa, and it made me sad to have just realized it just now and not before.
