Chapter 8: Girl Talk

*Derek*

“Have any of you guys seen Logan?” Logan was Wesley’s one and only son, his mate died when he was just a pup and he’s been raising him by himself, well Odalis had helped him out a lot but still. “He wasn’t feeling very good when we left Darkwood, he said he would come by later when the party starts” Kaden answered while still playing the game we were currently playing, battlefield. Kaden was Omar’s twin, and they were Kage’s and Odalis’ kids. Our powers were similar to each other because of their dad, and we trained together a lot when we were younger.

I looked at the time and it was already six, we had been playing videogames for hours and it didn’t feel like it. “Ok well I’m gonna head up and shower, I’ll see you guys at the party yeah?” “Yeah ok” Darnell Dominick’s and Raven’s son answered first before everyone else said the same thing and kept on playing.

*Ciara*

“I’m so glad you guys were able to make it!” I said to Gwen, Joshua’s daughter and Janette, Jason’s daughter, they rarely got to hang out with us, and even though we weren’t as close with them it was still nice to hang out. “Of course we came” they both smiled and said at the same time “my father was hoping that Derek would be my mate and bring our packs closer together, but rumor has it he already found his mate weeks ago” Gwen said, “what do you mean?” I asked her looking confused.

“He didn’t tell you? There was this big vampire party that you guys went to, some kids overheard Derek telling Logan that he smelled his mate” “actually he was acting kind of weird that day and left before everyone else did” “maybe his mate rejected him” Janette said what we were all probably thinking. “I don’t think so, maybe he just wasn’t able to find her.”

Whenever we get back I was going to have to talk to him about it, how could he keep something like this from me, I thought we were closer than that. “Well enough talk about Derek, what about you?” Janette asked again “you’re the oldest one of us and finally got your wolf, which means you can finally find your mate, any idea of who it might be?” “I haven’t thought much about who, but whoever it is I’m sure he’ll be exactly what I’m looking for” I smiled.

We shopped for a few hours looking for what we should wear tonight, I wanted to look good for my mate if he was going to be there tonight and I couldn’t wait to meet him. The girls had me thinking about who it could be, but I just had no idea, maybe it was an Alpha from another pack, I know it wasn’t anyone from our pack because I would have been able to find him by now. unless he was younger than me then I wouldn’t be able to meet him tonight.

When we finally made it back to the pack it was just a bit past six which didn’t give us much time to get ready. I ran to my room to get a quick shower and start getting ready, when I came out of the shower all of the girls were piling in getting ready to work on each other’s hairs and makeup.

I blow dried my hair which always took too long, I had my mom’s long brown curvy hair, I mostly wore it down or in a pony tail, I wasn’t much for styling my hair, but tonight I wanted it to look nice. “I’m thinking loose with a few braids here and there” Vanessa sat me down on one of my chairs and started working on it while Veronica worked on my makeup.

When they were both done I looked at myself in the mirror, I had two strands of hair loose in front of my face and my hair was half braided half down, but it looked amazing, and I wondered why I never tried doing anything with my hair. Veronica put eyeliner and mascara with a small smokey touch making my eyes pop out and light pink lip gloss.

Now all I had to do was put my dress on, I looked in the bags and pulled out my dress, I picked a short one that was back and tight on the top and the part of the skirt was a glittery silver and more loose. When I twirled it around I felt like it was a flying saucer. “You look gorgeous” “thanks guys, you’re all gorgeous as well” we all laughed “so ready to go down?” Vanessa asked, “actually you guys go ahead, I’m going to talk to Derek first.”

*Derek*

I was just finishing buttoning up my shirt when a knock came at the door “come in!” I yelled. The door opened slowly, and Ciara stepped into my room “hey everything ok?” I gave her a confused look, she never knocked, and she would always try to do something to me, so having her walking into my room and actually being nice? Was weird to me and something was wrong. “Yeah why do you ask?” she didn’t sound so convincing.

I looked at her for a while and could tell she was getting nervous “well first of all you never knock, and you haven’t attacked me yet so yeah, what’s wrong?” she sighed before she started talking “well Janette and Gwen were saying that some kids herd you saying you found your mate weeks ago, why haven’t you told me anything?” she sounded hurt and betrayed.

I rubbed my hand over my face “I didn’t say anything because I didn’t find her, I caught a scent that was so amazing and I followed it everywhere and I couldn’t find it, so I don’t know if it was my mate or not, but I have a feeling that it might be, I’m hoping that she might be here tonight and maybe I can know for sure” “oh Derek I’m so sorry, that’s why you left the party that day?” “Yeah, but enough of that, today is a day of celebration, by the way you look beautiful” I kissed her fore head and started heading out the door and down stairs to where the party was.
