Chapter 18

A couple of hours later the chopper to pick all of us up landed in the front yard. The men were scared about what was about to happen, but I had already told headquarters about the situation and what had happened. They agreed to train them and get them in the squad when they were ready. The men had no idea about what was going to happen, and I was kinda happy that I got them into a better life. Clark and Sam were standing right behind me as the men from the chopper came up to meet all of them and get everyone on board. I was the last to get on and hid my injuries to stop any hectic situations and avoid people from touching me. We flew to the nearest landing strip that the jet was waiting on us, I was glad to see it sitting there to take us home.      Once everyone was boarded I forgot about the gunshot wounds I had on my leg and side. Someone from the plain staff saw and yelled for immediate aid, I yelled over top of her to say I was fine and didn’t need it. She came right to me, looking at the blood still dripping down me.     “You are not fine.”     “Yes I am, please don’t say anything.”     Just then Clark stood up and moved my arm out of the way so he could see. The look on his face told me I needed it, that he would be upset if I didn’t get help.      “Ugh, fine.”     “Go get the med kit, I will do myself.”     The woman looked at him and nodded, the look on his face told me that he knew if it hurt too bad I would swing. He didn’t want anyone else to get hurt tho and I had forgotten that he was trained for this kind of stuff. She brought him the med kit like he had asked and started to go though everything he had to work with. Before I knew it, he had everything laid out like he needed it, almost like a doctor. I didn’t say anything as he started to clean around the gunshots that had scrapped me and at one point it hurt but I ignored it the best I could. Once he started to get into the wound it was so bad it was like fire, he hit something just right and I swung, not able to stop myself. He dodged just in time not moving his hands so it wouldn't move, he didn’t look mad, just like he was expecting it. I let him finish and just then as he was putting the bandages on Dimitti walked in and walked right over. He looked worried but he was all bruised on the face and arms that I could see.      “Who all did this to you?”     “Everyone that you killed, no one were did anything to me. Clark gave me food and water tho.”     I was shocked at the moment, Clark risked his life to do that for him. It made me wonder if he was really on our side the time. I looked at him and he just smiled as he washed the blood off of his hands. Clark was a good man. I knew that, but then something hit me, where was the bomb? I looked up at Dimitti and he knew exactly what I was going to ask, before I could even ask he answered.       “The bomb is safe and so is the man with his family. They have it locked away and trying to figure out how to take it apart with his help.”     I nodded and before I knew it, we were at the airport. I looked around at the men and nodded to give them reassurance, they nodded back to me relaxed. Me and Dimitti walked off first with the others following behind, MIckel was waiting like he always does and ran up giving him a hug. We all got into the cars that were there and went to headquarters. It was nice to see Washington again, all the people walking the streets not worrying about anything. I had thought about it and wondered what that would be like but quickly tossed that thought out of my mind, I was happy with my job and my life.      We all came to a stop and got out, walking in once everyone was together. We took them right to the meeting they were having and waiting on us for. I walked in first and then the others followed, we all told our stories one by one. I told them about how I killed Eran, and all the events leading up to that. I didn’t leave anything out, not even the smallest detail. The others told their stories and why they wanted to be here. The elders were there and decided to let them in after a background check. The next day they would be shipped out to the training facility, but they wouldn't have to be there long with the training they already have.      After everyone was done and they let them stay, we went down stairs. We were surprised to see everyone around cheering and something in the middle of the crowd. The elders walked past us and spoke loud once they were in front of us so everyone could hear.      “These two have made it back alive and are some of the best we have, we would like to congratulate you with these metals of honor and statute.”     We walked to the middle and there was a stand for us to get on top of. The elders came up to us one by one shaking our hands and once the last of them came, he put metals around our necks. They had said we were part of the top five best assassins and undercover ops they had. I couldn’t hide my smile now, everyone cheered, even the ones we had brought back with us.      I knew then I wanted to be here, not because of the fame or anything like that but because we belong here doing this job to keep people safe. After we got them, we slowly made our way out to the cars and to the house, Mickels, which he was letting everyone stay at for the time. Once we made it back, I could finally relax and go upstairs to change into comfortable clothes.
