Chapter 3 On The Plane

1834 Words
Hope’s P.O.V I was running around like a headless chicken, trying to make sure that everything was ready for when Erick gets home. It had been a few days since he had called his father and I to say that he was boarding the plane and that he couldn’t wait to be back home. I looked around making sure that everything was nearly ready and saw many of the she-cats still racing around, trying to find the perfect dress that would catch my son's eye and all I could do was chuckle when I saw them doing this. I shook my head at their silliness, but then a chill ran down my spine and I felt like I was being watched. Actually I felt like something or someone had been watching me for some time now, but every time I turned around to face whatever it was the feeling went away. I only ever got a small hint of danger, but it was like they were trying to cover their scent or something. At one point I smelled the strange scent of vampires, but why would vampires come here? I shook off the feeling as I busied myself again, trying to get everything done before Erick’s plane landed. I had even cleaned his room and updated it for him, seeing as he had been gone for three years it had been left untouched. I got him a new dresser because the old one looked like it would fall apart if someone blew on it and the new one matched the brown panels of his room. Rune had insisted on making his room soundproof, which I admit I was happy about, especially in case he found his mate. There was a couch on the other side of his room that was also brand new, in fact the only thing that I didn’t change was the bed and the TV, since it was brand new when he left three years ago. I was so happy that he was coming home and I was proud of my son for doing what he thought he needed to. I took one last look around his bedroom to make sure everything was right, then I shut the door behind me and went back downstairs to see what the main hall was looking like. Rune’s P.O.V I was in the office, sorting through paperwork and dealing with all the packs that were coming to celebrate my son coming home with us when my phone started ringing. I looked at the screen and saw that it was Erick, so I answered it straight away. “Hey dad, I’m on the last plane home and I can’t wait to get back.” Erick said, making me smile. “Hey son, I’m glad to hear it. Did you find your mate while you were there?” I asked, curious. “No sir, I didn’t, but that's okay because right now I just want to concentrate on my family and the pack.” Erick replied and I couldn’t help smiling at the man my son had become. I was proud of him. “That's fine, son, just remember that you have a life as well and your mate will make you stronger. We’ll see you soon, we’re all excited to see you back home.” I said and ended the call just as I heard the flight attendant talking in the background. I sat back in my chair, remembering when I was his age and how all I wanted was to take care of my pack and my family, but my father told me the exact same thing and when I got older I knew I was missing my mate, then Hope came into my life. I was stronger with her by my side and after Hope had taken over her first mate's pack, I brought my pack here and we combined them, making a huge pack with a mix of werewolves, werecats and elves. I just hoped that Erick would realise this before it was too late, I thought to myself. “A penny for your thoughts.” Hope said, making me jump slightly as she snapped me out of my thoughts. “It's nothing, I just can’t wait for our son to get home even if it's only for a year. He still has to go back and finish the rest of the test, but at least we get to see him.” I replied and Hope nodded. “Well, he should be home tomorrow, which is perfect because everything is set. The hall is decorated and the food is being made as we speak. You and I both know how much he can eat when he is hungry and he is definitely going to be hungry after being on planes for this amount of time.” Hope said, making me chuckle. Hope and I finished up the paperwork and pack work we had, then I took her hand in mine as we went upstairs for the night. Unknown’s P.O.V I had been watching them all for many, many years and the time was soon coming where I would be able to grab my prize. I want her as my mate, even if I have to change her to have her, but she must also want it as well. After all, it's the law of the vampires. Any vampire that falls in love with someone who is not of the same species, can only turn them if they agree to be changed, otherwise if they are being changed without their permission then the vampire and the changeling will perish and die. I’m not ready to die, so I must make her fall in love with me and in order to do that I need to get her away from her mate, but how when they are joined at the hip? “Tomorrow night seems the best time to do this as it looks like they are having some sort of celebration, so it will help with covering my scent and then I can take her with me. If anyone gets in my way then they will die.” I said, but heard my son sigh. “But father, we must be careful. Remember last time we had to take the other one by force and it didn’t go well.” He said and I nodded. “Yes, I know, Owens, calm down, everything will be alright. This will be a piece of cake, so don’t worry.” I said, but I could see that he was still worried. He knew that when I wanted something or someone then I would stop at nothing until I get what I desire, even if it's by force. “I have a bad feeling about this and I don’t think it's going to go very well.” I heard my son mumble under his breath, but I paid no attention to his words. He was always worried about things like this. Erick’s P.O.V So far I have been on three planes and I can’t wait to just get back home, relax and eat a decent meal as well. Hopefully I’ll be able to just go to my room and relax, enjoying my first evening back, but knowing my parents they will have something brewing. I laid back in my seat, relaxing, but then I smelt the scent of another werecat on the plane and when I looked around I saw that it was a she-cat. She looked just as bored as I was, but it was too and she had her mate sitting beside her, we could have had a lot of fun. Oh well, I’ll soon be home and then I can take care of my pack, family and friends, so I won’t have to worry about a mate because I’ll be way too busy for one. I pulled the blankets over me again and it made me wonder why they made these planes freezing cold, I mean I’m a werecat and have a high body temperature and even I was cold, so I bet humans are like ice blocks. I put my earbuds in my ears and started listening to the lame movie title, Scary Movie, but I ended up falling asleep due to boredom. I knew the plane would be stopping soon and then I’ll be free to lay in my very comfortable bed, which after these seats would be a welcome change because they were hard, uncomfortable and they hurt my back. May’s P.O.V It was a hard day at work today, but I managed to get everything that had come on the truck yesterday typed up onto the computer. I typed so much that my fingers started to hurt and when I was finally done I went out onto the sales floor to help with the customers. The whole day Susan kept giving me dirty looks, but I just chuckled and went on with my day. We closed a little early today, so I locked up the office and headed back home. I wanted to take a hike up a nature trail that I had found the other day, so I rushed home and quickly got changed into a pair of shorts and a shirt. I packed a small backpack with sandwiches and bottles of water, then I headed out. I walked to the trail that was just a little walk from my house and I could already smell the flowers and grass around me. I loved that smell, it was so refreshing. I walked further along the trail and saw rabbits and deer were eating the grass. The rabbits looked up at me, wiggling their noses and it made me chuckle to see them, but the deer ran away, which was in their nature. They were beautiful creatures. I walked for another thirty minutes and stopped to eat my sandwich and drink my water, then carried on a bit longer. After almost an hour more I turned back to head home. I really needed a shower because I was all sweaty and sticky, plus I needed to get an early night for work tomorrow. Unknown’s P.O.V I was running with some of my pack members when we smelled a human, so we hid and watched as a woman walked up the path to our home. If she found it then we would have to do something and although she didn’t look like she was out to hurt anyone we still followed her. She looked like she was just out for a walk and soon she turned around and headed back the way she had come from. My pack members and I looked at each other and then started back home, but I couldn’t help thinking that the human was brave for being out here by herself. I’m going to have to keep an eye on her and find out where she lives, especially as she was this close to the trail.
