May’s P.O.V

The next day I got to work early because we were getting another truck, but thankfully this one was just a small one. It was filled with kids paddling pools, shelves for bathrooms and living rooms, also pots and pans sets and toys. It didn’t take long for us to unload the truck and I took the paperwork back to my office to add them to the inventory on the computer. I looked at the descriptions of each item and saw that the paddling pools were big enough for five or six kids at a time to play in them, so I decided I was going to buy ten of them for the kids at the pack house. I rushed out of the office and grabbed ten of them, paid for them and then put them to one side so that I could put them in Erick’s truck when he came to pick me up after work. I hoped that ten would be enough, but it made me realise that I didn;t know just how many people and kids were in Erick’s pack, which was something I would make a point of asking him about. I typed up the rest of the stock, then did the paychecks for the week and when I was done I went out onto the shop floor and handed Walter a copy of everything I had done, including the paychecks. He looked through the paperwork and then signed them off, but just as he was about to hand them back to me he stopped and smiled sadly at me.

“May, I know what you are planning to do tonight, Erick has already told me everything about it. I know that I can’t talk you out of this, but you need to remember that you are just human, these mutts are strong and they will without a doubt rip you apart, so please think long and hard on what it is that you want to do.” Walter said, clearly worried about me. I sighed and nodded, feeling bad for making him worry, but I had to do this.

“Walter, I have thought long and hard about this, ever since we were told about the killings I haven’t been able to think about anything else. I know that the supernatural is dangerous, but so am I. I know I might not know what I am doing, but I am going to protect my friends and family. And Walter, I consider you my family and Susan as well.” I replied, making Walter smile widely at me, just as Susan walked over and stood next to us. She must have heard what had been said because she smiled sweetly at me, nodding her head.

“Thank you, I consider you family as well, May. Walter and I will be there tonight as well, but like we are all saying, please just be careful.” Susan said and I nodded.

“I will, Susan and I know that I’ll be in good hands and even safer with everyone there. I just think that seeing as he goes after humans then I am the best person to be the bait and we will be able to capture him, then you can all do what it is that you need to do.” I said and they both nodded. I went back to my office to carry on with the rest of my work and soon my shift was coming to an end, but I couldn’t help shivering as I felt like something or someone was watching me. I tried to shake it off as Erick came to pick me up and I shocked him by loading the ten paddling pools into his truck, but he just shook his head and laughed when I shrugged and smiled. I got in the truck and we headed home, but I decided against mentioning this to Erick, Hope or Rune because I knew that they would cancel tonight and it was important. When we got back home I noticed that there was a girl standing by our house, so I got out of the truck and went over to her.

“Are you looking for something, sweety?” I asked and she smiled at me.

“I sure am, you. I’m Andrea and I’m here to help you get dressed, Erick wants you to look hot tonight.” The girl I now knew as Andrea replied and I started laughing.

“Andrea, I know how to dress to look hot, but if you want to help then you are more than welcome.” I said, shaking my head and she nodded. We walked into the house while Erick unloaded the paddling pools from his truck and took them up to the pack house.

“I’m Erick’s cousin and he has told me so much about you. He told me what you are doing and he also said that you are a strong minded woman and you are doing this for us, which makes me want to help you even more. Come on, let's get this done, we have six hours, so if you want to take a couple hour nap then I can come back and help you then.” Andrea said and I nodded.

“Thank you, Andrea. I think I will take a nap, so I’ll see you in a couple of hours.” I replied and she nodded, walking back out.

Andrea’s P.O.V

I was glad that I could help with this, especially as she was putting herself at risk to help us, but I was also worried for her. I went back to my house and started getting everything ready for when I helped May.

“Hey cousin, what you said is true, she is a strong woman and she is determined to get this done. She is determined to help, which is what I read from her, so you better be careful and not betray her because I honestly think that it will be the last thing you do.” I said, mind-linking Erick.

“Don’t worry, I won’t. I would hate to see what she would do if I ever did.” Erick replied, making both of us laugh. I cut the link off and carried on with what I was doing, but the whole time I was praying to the Moon Goddess to keep May safe.

May’s P.O.V

After Andrea left I took a shower, dried off and then laid down on the bed. I only needed a couple hours sleep, so I set my alarm and closed my eyes. I woke up to the sound of my alarm going off and switched it off before getting out of bed and heading to the kitchen where I found Erick with Andrea and another woman.

“Hey hun, you ready to get ready for tonight? You’ve met Andrea and this is her sister, Nole.” Erick said, introducing me to the other woman.

“Alright girls, just don’t make me look like a clown, I already have my skirt and top ready.” I replied, laughing.

“You’re going to need to show me what you are going to be wearing, so I know if you need another outfit for tonight.” Andrea said and I laughed again.

“If you say so, come on, let’s do this.” I replied, kissing Erick’s cheek. We went into the bedroom, leaving Erick in the kitchen and I put my outfit on, then I grabbed my knee high boots and put them on. I showed the girls what I was planning to wear and their mouths dropped open.

“Yep, that will do it.” Nole said, nodding.

“Come on, I’m going to do your hair while Nole does your make-up.” Andrea said, pulling out the chair to the vanity and gesturing for me to sit down. I did as they asked and they soon got to work, but they had covered the mirror so that I couldn’t see the final result until they said so. After almost three hours they were finally done, so I stood up and they took the sheet off the full length mirror, letting me see the finished result and I couldn’t believe how amazing I looked. They had done my make-up perfectly, outlining my eyes with brown eyeliner that matched my long brown hair and the foundation wasn’t too dark either, which made me love it even more. The lipgloss was a light pink and I had a light amount of blush on my cheeks. I walked over and put my hoop earrings and matching necklace on, then some perfume, completing the look.

“Damn May, you said you knew how to look hot and you were lying.” Andrea said, laughing. I nodded and smiled, loving the way I looked and how well they had done my make-up and hair.

“Thank you, come on, let's go see Erick’s reaction.” I said and they both nodded. We walked into the living room and Erick almost dropped his glass of bourbon, his jaw dropping open as he looked me up and down.

“Damn May, you look hot, incredible. I wasn’t expecting this, but I know those clothes will look even better on the floor tonight.” Erick said, not taking his eyes off me.

“We’ll see. Are you ready?” I asked, smirking as he carried on eyeing me up.

“Yeah, er, I’ll be right back.” Erick replied, putting his glass down and hurrying into the bedroom. I knew he wasn’t ready because we had been in the bedroom, so he still had to shower and get dressed.

Erick’s P.O.V

I hurried and took a shower, then dried off and got dressed in a pair of black jeans, black shirt and my new boots. I put my hair up in a man bun and then I was ready, so I went back into the living room, twirling my keys around my fingers.

“Are you ready to head out? Come on, let’s get going.” I said, noticing that Andrea and Nole had left. She got up from her chair and walked over to me, making me lick my lips as she did so.

“Are we taking my car or your truck?” May asked, walking towards the door and opening it.

“My truck, come on.” I replied, taking her hand and leading her out of the house and into my truck. We drove off the territory and when we got to our stop I noticed that people were going into an alley, causing May and I to look at each other.

“This must be an underground rave.” I said and May nodded, but then she undid a few buttons on her shirt, revealing her cleavage. I growled a little as she put on a little more lipgloss, still not liking that my mate was bait, especially with how hot she looked. The thought of other males looking at her made me want to stop this right here and now, but I knew that May wouldn’t let me.

“I’m going to go inside first, wait twenty minutes and then come inside. The mutt or rogue must think that I’m there alone because if he sees us going in together then he’s going to know that this is a set up.” May said, but I shook my head.

“I’ll wait ten minutes and no more. If this thing grabs you I’m going to end up shifting and ripping his head off.” I replied and May nodded.

“Agreed, ten minutes.” May said and leaned towards me, softly kissing my lips.

“May, be careful.” I said as she got out of the truck. She nodded and walked towards the door, opening it. I heard the music blasting and saw the smoke coming through the open door, but I couldn’t take my eyes off May as she took a deep breath and walked into the underground club. I knew that she was going to go to the bar and order a drink, just like we had agreed with the plan, but it made me wonder and worry about if or how long it would take for that filthy rogue bastard to set his eyes on her and claim my mate as his or her next target.
