May’s P.O.V

The day after the meeting with the Alpha rogues went pretty fast, but my fingers were throbbing from all the typing I had to do on the computer at work, especially as we’d had two trucks to unload and then when I got the stock lists from the truckers I had to input the new inventory into the computers. There was a lot to do and by the time I had sorted through everything it was time to go home. When I got home I took a shower, dried off and got dressed. I was sitting on the edge of the bed, thinking about everything. I was tired after I finished work and all I wanted to do was sleep, but I couldn’t stop thinking about this thing killing my kind. I had barely had time to eat at work, let alone get a drink, so I got up and went into the kitchen, getting a glass of iced tea and a grilled cheese sandwich. I sat on the couch to eat my food, but I was so deep in thought that I never even heard Erick come into the house until he touched my shoulder, almost making me jump out of my skin.

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you.” Erick said, laughing at my reaction.

“It’s fine, I was just deep in thought, but I have an idea I want to run by you. It might be a little dangerous, but I want to do this.” I replied, smiling and patting the seat next to me. He raised an eyebrow at me, wondering what I had planned and sat down next to me.

“What are you planning in this head of yours? I hope it's a good one that all of us will agree on or we will tell you no.” Erick said and I smirked.

“Even if you tell me no I’m still going to do it, you’re not my father, Erick.” I replied and he nodded, sitting back in the chair.

“Alright, you win. Tell me your plan.” Erick said, sighing. I knew in my head and heart that this was dangerous, but I also knew that I wanted to and had to do this.

Erick’s P.O.V

I knew that these killings had been playing on her mind, just like they had ours, but I didn’t want my mate in danger, especially when there was a rogue mutt killing humans just like her. I opened my mind up to my parents so that they could also hear May’s plan and we wouldn’t have to go through it all over again after.

“Listen, I know that this could be dangerous for me, but I am going to do this whether you agree to it or not. After work on saturday I’m going to come home and get dressed in club clothes, then I’m going to go to a club in town. I’m going to stand alone, have a few drinks and then stand back and wait to see if I get noticed by this mutt. Once I've been noticed one of you can come and grab him up. I know it's not going to be an easy task, but I want to do this. The faster this mutt is out of the way the better everyone will be and the safer the packs and rogues will be. They are all right, they don’t need humans coming onto their lands and trying to kill them for no reason.” May said, making me cringe at the thought of using her for bait.

“It’s a good idea, son. She is a human and I can tell that she truly wants to help. It might be worth considering.” My dad said, mind-linking me. I could hear how impressed my parents were with her and I was too, but I stayed silent. This was more than just dangerous, but I could see the determination on her face and in her eyes. She really would do this with or without me, but I needed and wanted to be there to protect her. I thought over all the pros and cons for this, but the more I thought about it the more I could feel May’s strength through the bond and I knew that she wasn’t going to back down on this.

“Fine, but only if I can join you. I’ll be a few feet away from you, just in case he tries to force you out of the club or anywhere else. Mom, dad and a few warriors will also be there and the club will be packed with pack members, but we will stay a few feet away and keep an eye on you. It’s the only way I will agree to any of this.” I said and May immediately nodded.

“Alright, that’s fair enough on your part. In all honesty I thought that you were going to try acting like my dad and tell me no, but even if you did I would still do it.” May said and I looked at her curiously. Why was she so willing to be the bait?

“Erick, you and this pack are my family now, I’m not about to let some mutt or rogue or whatever you call him, come in here and destroy everything that your family has built. I just won’t let it happen.” May said, shaking her head. I felt defeated but also proud. I knew that I had a strong mate, but she was also stubborn and headstrong, so I knew that there was no use in arguing with her because she would just do it anyway and at least this way we could back her up and protect her. I nodded in agreement and heard as my mom and dad both hummed in agreement in my head.

“I agree with the plan, but only because she is headstrong and even if we said no she would still do it. It’s better this way.” My mom said, mind-linking me.

“Alright, so Saturday night we will go to a few clubs and see what we can find. Maybe there's more than one mutt, so we all need to be careful. It might be worth looking in the hotels as well because you never know. We will start on Saturday, which is actually tomorrow, so when you get home, rest up and then we will head out.” I replied, sighing and although May nodded, she also gave me a funny look.

May’s P.O.V

I knew that something was off and I would bet a million dollars that as soon as I laid my head down for a rest tomorrow they would head off without me. I could take care of myself and this was my idea, but even though Erick had agreed to it I had a weird feeling in the pit of my stomach that he wouldn’t let me follow through with it.

“I am going to say this loud and clear, if you have any plans whatsoever of going without me then we are going to have a serious problem. I know what I want to do, so don’t think I won’t for one second get upset if you think you’re going to try and be slick about it.” I said, looking him dead in the eye.

“I’m not going to go without you, don’t worry….” Erick said, chuckling slightly, but before he could say anymore I cut him off.

“Oh I’m not worried at all, but if you do leave without me then you will be sleeping on the couch for the rest of our relationship.” I said and he burst out laughing again.

“Alright, alright, you win. I promise I won’t leave without you.” Erick said and I smirked.

“You had better not.” I replied and kissed his cheek. I took my plate and glass back into the kitchen, put them in the sink and then went into the bedroom. I was exhausted from today and my eyes were hurting slightly from looking at the computer screen, so I decided to lie down. Today had been a busy day and I was going to be doing a lot more tomorrow.

Erick’s P.O.V

A few minutes after May had gone to bed I went into the bedroom and straight to the bathroom, taking a quick shower and drying off before I went back into the bedroom wearing just my boxers. I laid down beside May and wrapped my arms around her, pulling her closer to me. I looked down at her sleeping face and couldn’t help wondering how the Moon Goddess had paired me with such a strong willed human, one who was not only stubborn and hard headed, but was also kind hearted and loving. I was falling fast and hard for her, but I only hoped that she would soon feel the same way. I held her tightly in my arms, going over every inch of the plan in my head, trying to cover each and every base and hoping that all went well tomorrow. If anything happened to her I would never forgive myself or anyone else.
