The day after the kill…..
Glaze’s (one of Walter’s guards) P.O.V
I was patrolling the area with a few others and we split up to cover our different sections, just like we always did, but as I walked I came across the dead body of a woman. Her body had been ripped limb from limb, but I was shocked when I looked at her more closely and saw that not only had her throat had been ripped out, her face was half eaten and her stomach was torn open and eaten as well. She had tiny bite marks all over her and pieces of her flesh was gnawed at, which I knew to be smaller animals, but the bigger marks and tears were definitely done by something bigger, something brutal and then I smelled it. A newly shifted rogue. I could smell the faint smell which was a mixture of expired milk, rotten eggs and the smell of a skunk, telling me that it was definitely a rogue. I shook my head as I bent down and gathered all the body parts, carefully placing them in the duffle bag that I was carrying. I didn’t want anyone else finding the body because this would be bad on the pack, but I also didn’t want any more animals eating her either because it was just cruel to her. I picked up the bag and ran all the way back to the pack house, going straight to the Alpha’s office. I knocked on the door and heard him call out for me to come in, so I went in and laced the bag on the floor in front of his desk. Alpha Walter and Luna Susan sniffed the air and then looked at me with wide eyes, knowing what they had smelt was blood and death.
“What did you bring into my office and why, Glaze?” Alpha Walter asked, looking at the bag.
“The remains of a woman, a human, but it wasn’t any of our pack or any rigue that did this. This was done by a newly shifted rogue, one that is brutal with their killing. Alpha Rune was right, we need to find out who is doing this because if we don’t then the humans are going to start coming here and they will think that we have done this. We don’t need that to happen, Alpha, we have lived peacefully and have only gone to wars with the ones that try to take our pack, but we have never harmed a human, that is our number one rule.” I replied and Alpha Walter nodded. He had briefed us on the human killings earlier today before our shift started and told us to be on the lookout for anything strange or unusual. Luna Susan came and stood next to Alpha Walter, placing her hand on his shoulder to keep him calm, which right now was needed, especially as this was such a serious situation.
“Walter, we really need to find out who is doing this.” Luna Susan said and Alpha Walter reached up and patted her hand.
“I know, love, we will, it's just going to take some time to find out who it is, until then we need to talk to Rune and see if he thinks it would be best to talk to some rogues. I know it's going to be dangerous, but we need to speak with them and see what they know.” Alpha Walter said, looking at Luna Susan and the whole time I stayed silent, awaiting further instructions.
“Let me give Rune a call and see what he says first and see if we can try to talk to them, but it might be a good idea for us to combine our packs, until this is over. After all, we don't live that far from each other and it could be good. Glaze, I need you to burn those bones to ash and keep an extra eye open when you’re on patrol. I want at least a hundred guards to patrol the territory and make sure that no one else gets in or gets killed near ours or Rune’s territory.” Alpha Walter said, looking at Luna Susan and then turning his attention to me. I nodded and picked up the bag from the floor, then left the office. I went out of the back door of the pack house, then went to the far corner of the territory, so as not to be seen. I set the bag down and doused it with gas before striking a match and setting it on fire. I watched as the smoke started to fly up to the sky and said a silent prayer to the Moon Goddess, hoping that this human would find her way to heaven or whatever afterlife it was that they believed in. It didn't take long for the body to turn to ash and I watched as they floated up and the air carried them up to the skies. When it was all over I shook my head and went back onto patrol, but the whole time I was hoping and praying that we found whoever was doing this and stopped them before anyone else died.
Rune’s P.O.V
I was in my office going over the patrol rotas and other things when my phone rang and when I looked at the screen I saw that it was Alpha Walter, so I answered it immediately. He explained to me what had happened, what one of his guards had found and where, which shocked me. Whoever was doing this was either getting wreckless and stupid or bolder with their actions, by leaving the body out in the open on a packs territory, but I couldn’t decide which I preferred as both were dangerous.
“What have you done with the body?” I asked and heard him sigh.
“I had it burned to ash, cremated, before the human cops found it. You know they would point the finger straight at us and we have nothing to do with this.” Walter replied and I hummed in agreement. He was right to do so and I couldn’t blame him for being wary about the humans coming after his pack when I’d had the same thoughts as well.
“Rune, my guard said that this was a newly shifted rogue from the stench, so I think it's best if we speak with the rogues and find out what or if they know anything.” Walter said and I could hear the frustration in his voice at this whole situation.
“Yes, I agree, I think we should speak with them. I have a few Alpha rogue phone numbers, but whether they are still in service is a different story. I’ll ring around and see if any are willing to meet up, if they are then we can meet in a few hours at the border of my territory. I’ll call and let you know if they are willing to meet or if I find anything out.” I said and after saying our goodbyes I hung up the phone. I sighed and ran my hands down my face, frustrated, annoyed and pissed off with whoever was doing this. I looked through my files and found a few of the Alpha rogues phone numbers and although I really didn’t want to call them I knew that I had no choice. I had to if I wanted this to stop and we could use all the help and information that we could get. I called the numbers I had and they all agreed to come in peace and talk about what was going on, which was good because the last thing I needed was to be dealing with a war with rogues on top of this. I called Walter back to tell him what was said and about the meeting, hoping he was going to be there as well.
“Hello Walter, I have phoned round and a few Alpha rogues have agreed to meet here in a few hours.” I said and heard him sigh in relief.
“That's good, I’ve also called round and have a few coming too. I asked them to meet at your pack border like you said. I should be there in an hour or two.” Walter replied and I was glad that he had managed to get even more help.
“Okay, great, I’ll see you soon.” I said and hung up the phone. I looked again at the photos of the last crime scene that Officer Curt had brought with him and shuddered. There was no clue as to who had done it except for the scent they left behind, but all that told us was that it was a rogue, a newly shifted rogue.
Walter’s P.O.V
Susan and I had to hurry to get everything ready for when we left to go to Rune’s pack and as I refused to let Susan leave my side she was coming with me. I had no idea if this rogue would change tactics and come after supernatural creatures or if it would continue killing humans, but I wasn’t willing to take that chance with my mate or my pack. Even though it was my idea I was still cautious about meeting with the rogues because I know how greedy and sneaky they are, so I decided to take a few guards and warriors with us as well. We left our territory and made our way to Rune’s, which took us less than an hour. When we arrived the guards opened the gates for us and nodded as we drove through. I sped down the driveway and when I arrived at the pack house I saw Rune and Hope waiting for us on the front porch. We got out of the car and just as we walked up to them the horns and bells started ringing, warning us that rogues were here, but that none of them were fighting. We knew that they were the ones here for the meeting, so Rune mind-linked his guards and asked them to bring them to the front of the pack house where we were. We waited for a few minutes for them to arrive and then I saw them, just coming through the tree-line of the woods. I pulled Susan so that she was standing behind me and Rune did the same with Hope, but both women were defiant and stood next to us instead. Susan gave me a look and I shook my head, knowing that she wanted us to be strong and show a united front. The Alpha rogues came before us and we each bowed our heads to each other.
“Alright, we are all gathered here because a few questions need answering and we need your help. Firstly, does anyone know who is doing the human killings? One of my guards told me that he smelled newly shifted, so does anyone know who bit him or her and turned them? We can’t have this wolf killing humans, not in the woods or anywhere else.” I announced, hoping any of them had any answers. They each looked at the other before one of them cleared their throat, gaining all our attention.
“My name is Alpha Rollings and I haven’t heard or seen anything about it, but I agree that he or she needs to go, even if it needs to be killed. I know we don’t like each other most of the time, but I don’t need humans coming into my part of the land and trying to kill us for no reason. My pack and I will keep our nose and eyes open.” Alpha Rollings said and both Rune and I nodded, appreciating the help.
“I go into town every now and then, going to the clubs, so I’ll see if I hear or see anything. I agree with Rollings, we don’t need humans coming onto our land, thinking that we have done it when we don’t kill humans. It’s against the Moon Goddesses rules, no supernatural kills a human unless they try to kill us first and we stand by that rule.” Alpha Rey said, nodding in agreement. There was another Alpha called Miz and he stood there shaking his head as the other two spoke.
“Whoever bit this man or woman needs to be stopped, we all agree about this. I too sometimes go to the clubs in town, so I’ll see if I can see or hear anything about who is doing this. I will let everyone know to keep an eye open.” Alpha Miz said, just as May and Erick came out of the pack house.

“Stand strong, I won’t let any of them hurt you, but they can sense fear.” I told May, but she just shook her head.
“I’m not scared, let’s just get out there and talk like the rest of them. If they don’t see us out there then how else will you be future Alpha if you are never seen or heard. Make your mom and dad proud.” May replied, smiling. I nodded in agreement, knowing that she was right, but I was still worried about her safety.
“Come on then, let’s get out there.” I said, taking her hand in mine. We walked outside and as soon as we did the rogues started sniffing the air and their eyes went wide as they looked at May.
“The future Alpha has a human for a mate. I have heard of it happening to others, but I have never seen it. Will you change her?” One of the Alpha rogues asked and before I could reply May shook her head.
“No, I’m happy just being a human right now. I’m not scared, I know what I was walking into.” May replied and they all nodded.
“Erick, you have your hands full with this one, she’s a strong willed woman and future Luna. Come on, let’s go home. If we hear or see anything about this mutt then we will give you a call because we want this thing gone as well.” Another of the Alpha rogues said, still looking at May in amazement. I didn’t like the way he was looking at her, but I understood it because it was rare for a human to be mated to an Alpha werecat. We watched as the Alpha rogues were escorted from the pack house and back into the woods, heading to the border of our territory. Although they had come here to help us, they were still rogues and we were still wary of them, as they were us. I just hoped and prayed that we would find the bastard doing these killings before he killed again.
