Wrong Heart, Miss Beta!

Episode 4

The Truth about reality slammed into the face of Sage and she unconsciously shuddered in great astonishment.

She stared blankly at the doctor who had broken the news to her but she saw nothing. Her heart began to thud so loudly in her ears that she thought it might burst.

Being pregnant to not just anyone but Quincy Moon, an Alpha of all men is something to jaw drop at. Sage immediately began to experience cold feet. The babies in her belly now seem to be crying out loud.

Her imagination got wild immediately that she nearly had a heart attack. Quintuplets? Five babies for the alpha of the moon pack? The one who never called her throughout her one month's examination?

" Can you do me a favor? " Sage finally asked after regaining her lost voice. " Please ... Please keep this a secret. Please "

This makes the innocent doctor frown a little but then suddenly nod with a mischievous smile on his face.

" It's going to be a surprise to Harry Crescent, your mate. Is that it? Do not worry. My lips are sealed "

At the words of this doctor, Sage held the urge to Roll her eyes. She had never lain with Harry and never for once did she have a thought of breeding his babies.

However, she let the good doctor have his thoughts that the babies are her mate's. She asked to be discharged immediately and her request was granted.

Sage left the hospital at once and with her heart still unsettled, she decided to put a call to her twin brother. The ring goes on for some seconds and no one answers.

It has become a daily routine now for Gage to ignore the first ring. After he becomes the Beta loads of work and meetings are what he spends his days doing.

Tiredness now become his Friend and hard work seems to be his purpose. The second ring came and Gage finally answered but with an urgent tone.

" Sage I am in a meeting right now but I have booked your flight. A ride will come for you at the airport. Be safe and I love you "

Gage disconnected before Sage could even utter any words. It took some time before the lady could regain her lost breath.

In frustration, she stared at the screen of her cell phone and her shoulder sagged in misery. Now Sage Preston does not normally cry or get hysterical but at that point, without anyone to share her thoughts, she felt like wailing.

But she didn't because she thought of the perfect plan. She will go home, break up the mate bond with Harry Crescent of Crescent Pack, and then try to focus on Quincy Moon. He usually says he won't let her go. It seems now he won.

Sage returned to her uncle's home where she had been staying for the month's class and then packed her bags.

She barely waited for the time of her flight before bidding her uncle goodbye. Sage gets to the plane earlier than anyone but it takes no time before the plane takes off, arriving at the prestigious airport that cold, rainy night.

Sage gently alighted and then looked around for the so-called ride Gage had promised to order only to set eyes on none other than Harry Crescent waiting beside his car.

At first, Sage thought it was only a coincidence that he was there but when he began to approach her, she realized he had come for her.

Harry a man with blonde hair now and thin lips, handsome alright, walked forward to Sage and reached for her traveler's bag with no smile.

He then turned around and walked to the car bonnet where he kept her bag. Sage was surprised at his gentle acts because she remembered him as no one but a cheat and irresponsible man.

She wonders why he began to act all Saint now that she is back to become a professional doctor.

Harry came back to walk her to the car but Sage cleverly evaded his touch. She headed to the car where he opened the Front car door and made her sit beside the driver's side.

Harry then settled behind the wheel and eased off away from the airport. The two mates hit the wet road that night, heading to Moon pack. Silence stretched between them but Sage appreciated it. She now leans back to enjoy the pleasant airs that surrounded the environment.

Somehow she began to practice inwardly how to break the news of her pregnancy to the Alpha.

He'd be shocked. She thought to herself with a low inward chuckle. He will be excited. She said again to herself.

This thought unconsciously soothed Sage Preston, making her go so much excited but then Harry interrupted, making her stunned by his actions.

The man dipped his fingers into his breast pocket and brought out a small package. Sage gently turned to see his Jaw now set in somewhat anger. His eyes look so murderous and she becomes alarmed at once while wondering what is wrong with him.

" Here " He said, tossing at her the package. " That is what you have wanted. Now you got it "

For a few minutes, Sage was surprised at Harry's rudeness. She never expected him to throw at her anything. Slowly her gaze fell on the package and she picked it up to open it.

A gasp escaped her lips when she saw what was inside. A diamond ring. The most expensive precious stone she had ever seen.

Sage went cold. She slowly turns to Harry who keeps riding the car.

" Put it on "

" Harry ... "

" You don't need to put on any stupid act Sage. I know you have always wanted to be the heiress in my father's company by getting married to me. I know you have been wishing to be my wife so you can have an Alpha as your brother in law "

" Harry listen. I don't know what you are talking about "

All of a sudden Harry stops the car to settle his gaze on Sage. A glare now on his face. Unexpectedly he leaned over to kiss the woman who was taken by surprise.

She tried to get out of his clutch but the man was too powerful. Harry kissed her lips so roughly but at last, Sage managed to free herself.

She pulled back and immediately face slapped him so hard that his cheek quickly went red.

" I never wanted to marry you. I don't care if you are the younger brother of Alpha Kyro or not. I do not care if you have any inheritance. My comeback tonight was to break off the mate bond between you and me. You are so despicable and I cursed the day I knew you were my mate. Take your bullshit ring and get out of my face "

After saying all these words that would later leave its scar, Sage gets down from the car of Harry. She managed to get her traveler's bag out as well and then she set out on foot, leaving behind Harry so stunned totally by the new revelation.

Sage walks on while applauding herself, consoling herself, and saying she has done the right thing. She had made the perfect decision.

The journey to Moon Pack on foot is so tiring especially when she doesn't use her speed but it is better than riding in the suffocated car of Harry Crescent.

Sage finally arrived at her pack's massive gate which she had missed so much. The scent of everywhere now restored the lost energy in her and she took no time before becoming cheerful.

She marched on into the large space and took to the first street by her right which leads to her house. It was just a few minutes walk and when she arrived, she had expected a surprising welcome from her mother who was obviously excited that she finally passed her examination but the moment Sage opened the door it was her mother's angry eyes she saw.

This comes as a surprise to her and she left her luggage to dash to her mother in concern. Seeing her alone in the living room, in deep thoughts worries Sage a lot.

" Mother ... Mother what is going on? Are you okay? "

This question from Sage makes her mother look up at her blue eyes carefully.

" What have I done to you, Sage? " That was her mother's first question that stunned the young lady with white hair.

" Mother? "

" Why in the hell do you push your mate away? Do you have any idea what you have done? "

Sage was taken aback by this. She wonders how her mother knew she had rejected Harry. She was still having the thought when the footsteps came and Harry appeared from the bar counter which was in the living room corner.

His presence filled Sage now with nothing but rage and she decided to tell the whole truth.

" I am not getting married to Harry if that is what you want Mother. He never appreciated me as a woman. I can't tie the knot with a man like him "

" Sage ... "

" He cheated! " She yelled out frustratedly. " Just ask him. He cheated on me "

" I didn't cheat on you, Sage "

" Oh really? On the day of Alpha Quincy's ascension ... You didn't come with a lady? You didn't flirt with her and then tell me to my face to f**k off? "

" Alpha Quincy's ascension? It's your brother that ... Was it you? A decoy? " Harry suddenly asked in awe.

Silence immediately fell as Sage realized she had spoken too much. Now she gulped down hard and turned away to hide the truth.

" That isn't the point here Harry. The point is I won't be getting married to You. It's over. I would want to break the mate bond between us and ... "

" We can't break it Sage " Harry replied curtly as he approached her. " I also wish to break off this Crazy bond but I can't. Do you know why? Ask your parents "

Harry Crescent left after dropping the bombshell and Sage Preston unconsciously shivers. She turns gently to her mother for explanation and the woman quickly looks away to hide the guilt on her face.

This incident makes Sage sagged her shoulder in frustration. She realized, then and there her parents had made an ungodly deal with the Crescent family.
