"What's a Phoenix?" Crystal asked narrowing her eyes at Helen in a strange way.
"You wouldn't understand, but...let's say, she's the other part of me, her name is Mia.
"You have another you?" Crystal slurred her statement as she stared at Helen in disbelief.
"Not like that...oh shut up Mia" Crystal flinched at Helen's sudden outburst.
"Sorry, she's a proud and arrogant self-consumed b***h" Helen's reply was in no way helpful to Crystal.
"She's in my head...she's a part of me...come on Mia leave the poor girl alone" Helen muttered the last part.
"But I can give her control over my body once in a while" Helen added but Crystal still maintained her clueless look.
"Is that even safe?" Crystal asked eyes interrogating Helen who just smiled.
"Trust me it's completely safe, would you like to meet her?" Helen asked stopping in front of their next class.
"No thanks...I think I'm okay just talking to you, don't want to meet your other part just yet, I've had enough for the day" Crystal instantly rejected Helen's gesture wanting to head back into the class.
"You kinda just hurt her feelings...she's upset you don't want to meet her" Helen relayed after some brief seconds of silence.
"It's not like that, Mia if you can hear me I'm certain you're a nice person, angel...whatever it is that you are-
"Phoenix" Helen corrected.
"But I've just had too much for a whole day, I'm certain we'll have plenty of time to meet after all...Helen claimed I'm her sister" Helen smiled relieved that her plan of getting close to Crystal was working but there was nothing she needed to confirm.
"Crystal, come" Helen grabbed her by the hand and led her down the locker hallway to the quiet part of the school which Crystal kept wondering how she figured the place, it was the stairs that led to the library.
"I want to check something...if you don't mind?" Helen politely asked and Crystal nodded.
"Can you be fast about it...we'll be missing class if we stay any more seconds" Crystal informed and Helen nodded before stretching out her hand moving it slowly to Crystal's chest while Crystal anxiously watched her actions. The moment Helen placed her hands on top of Crystal's chest, she felt her subconsciousness instantly sucked from her, Helen gasped loudly as she found herself in a dark place, it was chilly and airy making Helen hug herself.
Helen walked into the nothingness wanting to find a place out but then she froze as she saw her sister, she was sleeping with the limelight right on her; making it easy to make out her perfect elegant features, even as a mere soul; Angelique still possess all the qualities of perfect beauty that compel Helen to walk further to her and the moment she got close enough Angelique's eyes instantly fluttered open, she slowly turned her head to Helen's direction having fear instantly gripping Helen.
"Helen, what are you doing here? How did you get here?" oh no...Helen thought realizing she had accidentally invaded Angelique's space.
"I don't know, didn't you call me here like you used to-
"No, I didn't, you found your way here by yourself...how did you do that?" Helen gulped as the question hit her. 'Angelique should never know they are trying to bring her back, she's going to go rabid' Helen recalled exactly what her mother had said and got even more frightened.
"You find your way here-
"I don't know how" Helen briskly cut in and a frown slowly found its way to Angelique's face.
"What do you mean by you don't know how...you came here, to me...you must have taken some measures, what was it? What is it!?" Angelique raved loudly but Helen decided to run away instead but every place she turn, Angelique was there.
"You must have forgotten but this is my space you're invading, for years I was trapped in here...wallowing in emptiness and loneliness...this place is my home and everywhere you run, you shall find me a sister so tell me how you come here!?" Angelique's voice was quite threatening, the fear that gripped Helen was starting to hyperventilate her, she could hardly breathe...it was far worse than when she met her hybrid sister for the first time. Helen started to gasp for breathing as Angelique draw even closer then she let out a loud gasp as her throat cleared and she felt herself suddenly able to breathe.
Then she realized it wasn't her fear choking breath out of her but Angelique herself.
"I can suffocate you here sister, so you'll tell me...how you get in here-
"I don't know!" Helen bellowed feeling furious all of a sudden.
"You think if I knew I wouldn't be out of here already, I just found myself here...I don't know how it happened but it happened, Pleases send me back" Helen's voice softened as she started to plead.
"You came here only you can find your way back" Helen's shoulder sagged because she doesn't even know it was possible that she could enter into her sister's void space willingly, she must have connected to her sister somehow while touching Crystal's chest.
"What are you thinking?" Angelique questioned staring down at her look-alike of a sister.
"I'm retracing my steps, trying to figure how I ended up here" Helen replied head bowed as she tried to recall how she even ended up there but she suddenly felt a sting in her chest and she rubbed it, while still concentrating on trying to find her way back.
"Why are you rubbing your chest?" Angelique furrowed her brows while she studied her keenly.
"I feel pained, I feel a sting-
"You can't feel pain in here Angela, not even when your body is hurt...except-" Angelique paused staring into her sister's face.
"Your mate is hurt" Helen's eyes bulged in shock and she immediately gasped back to life to see herself in what looks like a high-school nurse room or something.
"Helen" Crystal breathed out in relief jumping from the chair opposite the bed she was laid.
"Where am I?" Helen demanded.
"The nurse room" Crystal replied almost the same time Mia responded in Helen's head.
"You passed out" Crystal notified and Helen's breath quickened as she get even more uneasy.
"I think Alex might be in trouble" Mia informed Helen and Helen furrowed.
"I know, he is in trouble" Helen muttered to herself before immediately jumping to her feet and setting her stuff in place.
"Who is in trouble? Where are you going?" Crystal inquired but Helen was too busy to start explaining.
"Alex is in danger...I have to go help him, Crystal...I'm so sorry I have to leave right now, but thank you, see you in school tomorrow" Helen rushed, moving past a dumbfounded Crystal. Crystal felt she needed more explanation and ran after her but froze when she saw her sprout both her wings after she successfully followed her to the back of the school.
"I can't believe she just fly off as that" Crystal muttered to herself before turning back to leave only to bump into Damian who was also coming to check up on her.
"Hey, what are you doing here?" Crystal nervously inquired blocking Damian's view to obstruct him from seeing Crystal who had just taken off.
"Um...I was coming to check up on you, I heard your new friend fainted; suffocation...is she alright?" Damian asked out of concern and Crystal gulped.
"Well...she said she wouldn't be able to stay in school today anymore; um...she....she left to rest at home" Crystal lied trying her best not to stutter.
"Oh, that's sad. Her first day must have been pretty exhausting...being a new student and all" Damian breathed out ruefully.
"I...think we should head to Mr. Rahul's class now" Crystal suggested but Damian wore a nonchalant face instead.
"No, Class was canceled...it appears there's a problem. Yesterday, a teacher went missing on the school premises because all her stuff was still found by her desk and right now they are looking for that player, you know...the strange bumped boy that bumped into me on the field?" Damian tried to remind Crystal but the image was quite vivid in her head.
"Oh, yeah...I remember him. He's missing? How is that possible?" Crystal feigned ignorance, her face scrunched up in fake disbelief.
"We don't know yet, all we know is...everyone is looking for him right now; the police have also been involved so, I believe they'll soon solve the mystery behind the two disappearances" Damian shrugged heading strolling down an alley with Crystal by his side.
"I...I hope so" Crystal muttered not so confidently.
"Crystal" Damian stopped dead in his track and turned to Crystal but suddenly couldn't meet her eyes.
"I'm sorry, I'm really sorry for the way I treated you and I've been treating you...I...I know I shouldn't have said all those things I said to you, and 5th grade...I'm sorry for pushing you away when you tried to help me up...you know when I fell-
"Oh, I remember that" Crystal let out recalling back when they were in fifth grade and they were on a field trip and few of their classmates were picking on Damian but Crystal stood up for him and tried to help him but he screamed at her to get away from him.
"I don't hold it against you...I know you felt terrible and just didn't want to feel vulnerable being helped by a girl" Damian's eyes lit up because it was exactly his reason.
"Don't worry Damian, all your actions are justified" Crystal smiled and Damian warmly returned it.
"Well...Fiona is holding her birthday party this weekend, and...I was hoping you could, you know go with me?" Crystal felt shocked being asked out by Damian and froze unable to comprehend the whole thing but before she could respond they turn to meet the triple Tee's picking on another student.
"Seriously Tyler?!" Crystal frowned cracking her knuckles and ready to play in defense of the kid.
"And what do we have here...looks like a convert found his anchor, you think she can protect you?" Tobias mocked while glaring at Damian who stood gallantly next to Crystal.
"Don't listen to them, Let's go call the principal...he can solve this-
"Do you seriously think they'll still be here before you come back, Damian?" Crystal quirked her brows at Damian who was looking rather clueless about what to do.
"Don't get into their fight, you'll be sent to detention if you by any chance interfere" Damian tried to make Crystal reason with him but Crystal already made up her mind to teach the three boys a lesson but was stopped by the emergence of a complete replica of the basketball player.
"Connor" Crystal muttered watching the boy's cat eyes dilate, then her body started to tremble to recall what he had done to her when she was with him.
