Episode 1-The woman in a cloak
The beautiful autumn flowers used in the decoration of Hazel field high-school were beautiful, the environment was peaceful as the school itself was built on the outskirts of Los Angeles. The atmosphere was quiet, filled with only the noises of chirping birds from various trees that rounded up the school, the beautiful sunlight creeping into the various windows of the classrooms was welcomed by everyone but Crystal. Crystal sat by the window of her classroom blocking the rays with a novel book she was reading.
“Crystal Hawkins” The teacher at the board called throwing her a chalk which Crystal caught without looking while she slowly lowered her book to flash her blonde teacher a smile. Crystal Hawkins is a tall slender 18 year old girl with warm beige skin tone, prominent ocean blue eyes, a button nose, with full lips that complemented her diamond face which was highly angular and somewhat bony. She pulled a few strands of her chocolate cherry straight hair that reached her mid-back to the back of her ear after putting away her book; her fringes covered most of her thin eyebrows but disturbed her eyes once in a while, after blinking away several times she finally spoke.
“Mrs. Summerfield, I think you lost your chalk” She raised up the chalk she caught at the teacher glaring furiously at her.
“Miss. Hawkins if you don’t want to be spending the rest of the day in detention you would put that book away and pay attention” The tall blonde with nerdy-looking glasses as Crystal would describe her biology teacher fumed with authority as she pointed at her. Crystal was one of the bad girls in school that don’t give a damn about the rules, she was pretty used to being sent to detention so she doesn’t consider it a threat, she was notorious, confident, sassy, and yet brilliant.
“Sorry, Mrs. Summerfield but I request blinds on these windows the sun is disturbing my eyes” Crystal complained and waited for a response from her teachers as the other students in class laughed, well except from one particular person who she was very fond of but never showed it though, Damian Clement, the one who was glaring angrily at Crystal at the moment, their eyes met and Crystal smirked.
“That’s yours to deal with missy” Mrs. Summerfield declared and Crystal rolled her eyes resting back into her chair while folding her hands. Mrs. Summerfield resumed teaching after exhaling calming herself after being infuriated by Crystal, but Crystal didn’t mind. She decided to stare out of the window already bored of the class, she never try hard. It was something she didn’t know how to do, unlike someone who has gotten her attention, Damian…the guy tried too hard for her liking. She glanced back at Damian who was paying all his attention to whatever it is the teacher was saying, the guy really did get her attention. Damian was tall as her probably taller than her by some inches. He was as smart as her, or almost. He was always a few scores behind and it irked him always. Damian though being a typical bookworm was stubborn, quiet, and observant, and in everyone’s term boring, though Crystal did find the nerd amusing. The bell rang and Crystal grabbed her bag, stood from her seat like everyone else, she straightened the baggy hoody she had on top of her faded jeans and sneakers heading directly to the cafeteria to grab something to eat. Crystal got herself a burger and a juice and was returning when she saw the big bad guys of their class. The troublesome Tee’s throwing around Damian’s book while he tried so hard to catch it from them. Crystal huffed and throw the last bit of her burger into her mouth before clapping off the crisps. She cracked her knuckles and straightened her neck before walking straight to them.
“Give him back” Her voice was commanding and authoritative. It irritates Crystal a lot that Damian was a great pushover, the guy was strong because she’d held him before but why he always avoid to fight back was shocking to Crystal.
“It’s non ya business, f**k off freak!” Tobias laughed and Crystal smiled, she was used to hearing that, probably because she’s got no friends and dress much like a dude if her long hair were to be ignored.
“How’re your lips?” Crystal asked turning to the second guy with who she had gotten into a fight with the last time, she had given him a punch right on the lips leaving it a little swollen. Tyler raised his hands to his still bruised lips and scorned, he so much wanted to get back at her for that. The trio pushed Damian away and advanced to her.
“You escaped the last time? Do you think you can actually take on the three of us?” Crystal gave them a boring look then smiled.
“Why don’t you find out” She replied confidently and the boys ran for her two hands holding it back for Trace to hit her but then she smirked. The black dude slowly advanced towards her with the intention to hit Crystal but ended up getting her two feet on his chest. Crystal was strong, strong enough that she pulled together the two guys holding her arms and make them hit each other freeing her at the impact. Targeting Tyler’s bruised lips again, she landed him a punch on the mouth and kneed Tobias on the Crotch before elbowing Trace on the forehead. Not only was she strong, but she was also quite fast. She left the tree guys groaning and grimacing in pain while she waited for them to attack again but none came.
“Crystal!” Principal Hertford's voice rang through the hallway and Crystal waved her hand.
“Detention four of you” The 40year old principal screamed and she smiled.
“I was going to avoid that place today” Crystal muttered to herself as the three Tee’s struggled to their feet and walked away from her while Crystal just stood staring at the principal who was at the end of the school hallway. Crystal turned away and tried to help up the frightened Damian who decided to stand without taking her hand.
“Do you always have to get into a fight?” Damian challenged Crystal and she sighed.
“You’re welcome” Crystal shrugged flashing him a smile but Damian just walked away from her.
“Thank you Crystal, you did well” Crystal dramatically commended herself before heading for class which she slept throughout in. Then detention afterwards, detention was known to be full of kids who never obey the rules, Crystal was used to them but she wasn’t quite used to the librarians telling them boring stories nor their PE teacher preaching about the word of God, so instead she preferred to be stuck with her headphones.
Finally, detention was over and Crystal was strolling home with her headphones over her head and her backpack by her shoulder when a woman with a cloak came past sauntering in her direction. ‘Who wears cloaks these days?’ She wondered as she kept walking but to avoid bumping into the strange lady in shining blue cloak, she dodged her shoulder which would have hit hers. She looked back almost at the same time as the lady whose face was concealed by the hood of the cloak but when she raised her head her eyes met hers. Her eyes were spectacular, the most beautiful set of blue eyes she’d ever seen, for a second they stared at each other until the woman suddenly turned and walked away but Crystal kept watching as the woman walked away, something strange happened after that, a corporately dressed man whom Crystal guessed worked in a bank or probably a law firm passed by the woman and his shoulder and hand went through that of the woman, in normal situations the two were supposed to brush shoulders and apologised for bumping into each other but this wasn’t any normal situation. ‘The freaking man just passed through the woman like she was transparent or something’ Crystal couldn’t seem to wrap her head around that. she ran for the man and held who was now standing at the street waiting for the green light to cross and head him back.
“I’m sorry sir but can you spare me a minute?” She questioned and the man narrowed his face at her in question.
“Okay,” The man finally muttered.
“Do you see that woman, in a blue cloak?” Crystal asked pointing to the lady whose cloak was swaying behind him as she continue her walk.
“What woman, who wears cloak these days?” The man scoffed looking around.
“Sorry, never mind,” Crystal said fastening her backpack to her back and running after the strange lady in a cloak.
