“What do you mean by that?” Helen tried to act clueless as she started to walk away from Alex whose expression was blank.
“You were muttering in your sleep Angie, is there something you’re not telling me?” Alex narrowed her face at her compelling her to talk but she ignored him instead and headed for her room.
“She told you about Crystal being in danger, didn’t she?” Alex pressured following Helen as she headed towards their room.
“Alex, I don’t want to talk about it right now…don’t you see that” Helen turned abruptly to complain.
“Why have you been keeping this from us-
“What difference does it make? She’s stirring somehow. She’s getting more conscious every day; that’s while she could draw me out anytime” Helen sighed moving to sit on the bed.
“It’s bad for her to be conscious right before we return her body to her-
“In my opinion that’s the safest, she could literally kill us all if she have her powers immediately she’s awake…I think we should try to wake her first, then try to talk things out, mom thinks the best method was to return her to her body but they’ve done so much damage to her already, you think she was going to readily agree to help us regain control in Angel Bay, she won’t say yes immediately…trust me she won’t we have to try and convince her” Helen decided but then there was a soft knock on the door and Helen stood to get the door. It was Morgan standing and his expression wasn’t a nice one.
“Is everything okay? Is something wrong?” Helen questioned wondering what was responsible for the somber look Morgan was wearing.
“The Queen” Helen’s heart instantly skipped a bit at the mention of her mother.
“She’s dying. She’d been poisoned-
“This was it…this is the reason while my sister was getting stronger somehow…mother’s powers are no longer enough to bind her to that body, she is going to surface, forcibly if she has too” Helen started to tremble and tears started to run down her eyes as she worried for her mother and their mission. Alex stood and brought her into his arms allowing her to cry into his chest while she patted her back softly in an attempt to soothe her.
“It’s alright” Alex assured but she didn’t stop crying, she felt horrible.
“This is my fault; this was all my fault-
“Why do you blame yourself so, there was nothing you could do about it you know that” Alex consoled but Helen just kept shaking her head as she wallowed in grieve of what will become of her dear mother if nothing was done immediately.
“I should have let Green sneak her out instead of making him gather all the underlying angels so it could be easy to break into the dungeons and free them” Helen mumbled in blame.
“You did what you think was right and the queen clearly said she wasn’t going to leave her people, she also wanted to stay behind and give them hope, without her Angel Bay wouldn’t have been able to resist her control, look at the bright side of this Helen and stop blaming yourself for everything” Alex comforted.
“I think your plan will work…the last letter we received from spies within the walls said Green has managed to successfully gather all the underlying warrior angels, he’s doing well in raising the resistance inside the wall, soon they will be able to break into the prison and free the important member of the court…you have nothing to worry about and also; Dylan and Lily would be returning back to base soon…if that could be of any consolation” Helen let out a soft laugh at Morgan’s idea of trying to console her.
“Everything is going to be okay princess, might take a while but it’s going to be alright-
“That sounds pretty promising” Helen chuckled softly.
“I think you should get some food right now, you are practically trembling,” Alex noticed and Helen nodded wondering how easy it was for Alex to guess she was starving, her thoughts had not made it easy for her to dwell on her hunger. She sprout to her feet ready to go get something to eat while Alex and Morgan tried to steady her walking as it looked like she might fall.
“I’m fine” Helen protested as they both intend to keep holding her down the stairs.
“You don’t look fine” Alex retorted.
“I’m gonna be okay guys, stop treating me like a child” Helen chuckled trying to break free from the two but they maintained their grip on her until they get her to the kitchen after which they made sure to get her some food.
“Um, Princess…I have something to tell you” Morgan nervously informed as Helen devoured the pancakes Alex served her.
“What is it?” Helen asked with food in her mouth while staring curiously at Morgan but she decided to ignore his nervous stance and concentrate on the food she was trying to eat, but then her eyes caught on Morgan’s long fingers twitching while his fingers dug in tightly as if finding the perfect way to say what he has to say.
“Don’t tell me you’re nervous right not because you want to tell me Hematite is your mate?” Helen questioned raising her head up to meet Morgan’s nervous eyes.
“I didn’t realize you’ve figured,” Morgan said before giving a timid chuckle.
“I didn’t figure…my phoenix told me” Helen turned back to her but had to raise back her head as silence suddenly falls, she slowly glanced to Alex who had taken a seat beside her and had his face scrunched up like he was perplexed, he gave his temples a light rub before coming up with the same question that seems to be on Morgan’s mind as well.
“You’ve gotten contact with your phoenix?” The question had Helen returning the confused look while she slowly put down the pancake in her hand while glancing back and forth from Alex to Morgan.
“You haven’t contacted yours?” She questioned studying their expression closely and the look on both their faces was enough to prove that they really haven’t had any contact with their phoenix spirit.
“How is that possible?” Helen muttered the question under her breath while turning her head down in an attempt to guess how it happened but she arrive at no conclusion.
‘They will soon, Chaos isn’t as it used to…slowly the consciousness of their phoenix will also return’ Mia intervened and Helen relayed her message to them making the boy grow an excited smile.
“Actually, mine was brought forth by you when I was poisoned and I’m thinking Mia must have had something to do with it but I’m glad though” Alex sank into the chair and watch Helen resume eating while Morgan excused them.
“Since when has your sister been communicating with you-
“I told you…I don’t want to talk about it” Helen said standing up with the ceramic plate in her hand as she returned to the kitchen to do her dishes.
“You really don’t want to talk about everything, babe…you know you can talk to me” Alex cajoled but then Helen decided she needed to stay away from her and set to head upstairs but Jasper came in with news from Lily, her mentor, and guardian.
Jasper was in a polo t-shirt and dark blue jeans and t shoes were terribly stained with dirt but he didn’t seem to mind that, he ran straight for Helen and submitted the letter to her. Helen instantly opened it up and go through the contents.
‘Hey Helen, we should be there in two days, Dylan’s fine now…he’s been healed and you won’t guess who I have with me…it’s the demon princess, she’s been off-raider for a while. We met in the Himalayas. She was keeping the rest of the demon’s royal family safe but she had to return with me to aid in our fight since her father was killed, the demon King foresaw this…they said a demon was going to help you so I think it could be the princess, I hope this letter meets you well, take good care of yourself’ Helen read out and she smiled in relief.
Dylan was poisoned during their escape from Angel Bay since he also had to go there to meet his real dad Hazen who was Alex's step-brother. The only place the plant that could heal him could be grown was in the Himalayas, a mountain healing plant that purifies Demon toxins in the system. Helen slowly folded the paper but her eyes caught on Jasper’s footprints which had made quite a mess on the floor.
“Get those cleaned” Helen instructed and Jasper turned to the direction of Helen’s gaze to see what she meant, making her groan.
“Was harvesting with rose” He gave an excuse for what happened but Helen just shrugged.
“I think we should start making preparations for Lily and Dylan’s arrival,” Helen said heading upstairs to clear the spare rooms and was in the middle of doing it with Alex, Morgan, Jasper who had joined in later when Garnet and Amber flew back from rescuing Crystal, after which they relayed what happened during their encounter to her in details.
They were all standing in the hallway when Garnet and Amber came as all of them except Rose and Ruby who was in the Garden producing foodstuffs for them; but the rest were trying to free some space for the arrival of their new members but after Garnet told her their experience with Crystal, Helen didn’t wait before she flew out to see and hear for herself.
“Angie wait!” Alex pleaded as he tried to keep up with her while she storm outside extended her wings and skyrocketed into the sky like a missile.
“Alex, you are not strong enough, I’ll go after her” Pearl volunteered and immediately went after Helen to make sure she was safe, Helen didn’t slow down and kept flying fast until she landed heavily behind Crystal’s house then fly up again turning herself invincible then phasing into the wall then into her room she was transparent.
Helen confronted Crystal about what she saw but she felt she made a mistake by telling her the truth about what she saw because she seems instantly confused about everything and before she could shed some light on what seemed so dark to her, her mother came knocking and she heard an angel’s wing call which made her leave almost immediately and follow up the call.
“What the f**k Pearl?” Helen cursed on reaching Pearl who seem edgy for some reason.
“If we don’t leave right now…all the demons are going to storm Crystal’s house, I can feel a lot of demons heading her way-
“How do you mean?” Helen frowned.
‘Run’
“Run” Pearl and Mia urged almost at the same time.
