The sound of the crowds that littered the streets made it hard to think but the couple pushed forward. The portal did not let them out in the seating area but a few rooms away. When they entered the watch box, everyone gasped with the exception of Solvain. They scampered to bow to the vampire king but Cofer asked them to stay seated. Today was King Valin’s day. Even though Cofer was being cordial, the other leaders still seemed shaken by his presence. He couldn’t be sure if they were staring at him or his lovely wife.
They took their seats next to Solvain. The people of Wilshana were excited about their new Queen. They threw colored paper. Everyone wore royal blue and gold. It was a sight to see. Before long the mechanical float holding the couple arrived. They were led by a band and dancers. When they arrived at the seating area for the other kingdoms' royalty, they turned and waved in sync.
Cofer watched Josey's facial expression for negative changes. She wasn’t smiling . She looked like she was trying to take it all in.
As Valin held his new wife’s hand, he felt a tinge of unease like something wasn’t right. Maybe it was the loudness of the crowd or the band music. It couldn’t be her. She was one of the most beautiful women on the continent. He had definitely gotten lucky between his concubines and his wife , he was a lucky fellow. He tried to focus on her dainty, soft hand while he smiled big for his people.
When he arrived at the united kingdom's seating area, he recognized most of the kings and queens. But one made him want to walk off of the float. He had to catch himself. “What was that?” He said to himself trying to keep his smile and composure. The vampire king’s queen was a sambofahn. He could see her big beautiful purple eyes from the float. The way she gazed at him made goosebumps stand up all over his body. [What the f**k?] Valin slowly turned away from the seating area and tried to focus on the conclusion of the parade.
“He’s as handsome as always.” Sueli whispered. “Did you see how he looked at us? The connection is still there.” She continued. Josey looked down at her hands. She could feel Cofer watching them. Their heart was racing. She wanted to hug him and cry. She was so glad that his wonderful soul did not depart this world. That, she was grateful for. When he quickly looked away from her, she felt like he was throwing her heart away. The heart he swore that he would hold dear forever.
“He's not wearing his ring.” Sueli said in a low shaky voice. “Of course not. This is his wedding ceremony. He can’t wear a necklace.” Josey explained to Sueli, knowing that was not the only reason. “You’re right. Josey.” Sueli continued. “Promise me you will try to get him back.” She pleaded. “Anything for you Sueli.” Josey said. Josey pulled her smile together and gently leaned against her husband. He intertwined their fingers as they watched him leave their sight, disappearing behind the castle walls. All the Kings and Queens were escorted from the booth and transported to their rooms.
When they reached their room to rest before the ball, Josey felt all of the energy leave her body. Cofer could feel the change in Josey and quickly put his arms around her waist and guided her to the bed. Cofer slid out of his shoes and jacket and sat with his back against the pillows. One leg off the bed the other spread, ready to receive his love. He pulled her body into his arms. She laid her head on his chest and the tears started to flow. Cofer held Josey on the bed with one arm and worked to undo the buttons on the back of her dress with the other hand.
He gently massaged the opening with his hand then worked to take the dress off. She drew her legs up into the bed and laid on his suited body in only her lace panties. Cofer embraced his wife’s warmth and tears. After about 15 minutes, they sat in silence. Cofer’s hand cradled Josey’s cheek, ready to wipe away the next tear. She sat up then pressed her breasts against his chest and kissed him.
Cofer had been thinking about kissing Josey since the moment they arrived in Wilshana but he felt like he was being selfish. He was there for her sake. Josey straddled her king. She held him and their faces close to each other. “Cofer, our Valin has forgotten us.” He could feel the cold tears maneuvering over their cheeks. Her heart was racing. It had finally hit home that he was gone. They stayed in that position for some time before someone knocked at the door.
From the smell, it was someone from Valin’s palace. Cofer stood up with Josey still wrapped around him and then laid her in the bed. “I’ll be right back.” When he answered the door it was someone who had been in contact with Josey before, Cofer could see Josey’s signature all over her. “Your Majesty. I am sorry to disturb you. I was your queen’s maid when she stayed in the castle. I really wanted to say ‘hi’ before the ball. Please forgive me.” Jade said.
“Oh really. One moment.” Cofer closed the door. “Honey there is a woman at the door who says she was your maid when you stayed with Valin.”
Josey smiled. She wanted to see Jade. She put on a silk tank that was laying on their bed and stepped past Cofer, who reopened the door. “My Queen!” Jade bowed when she saw Josey. “Please stand. We don’t want people to question your loyalty to Wilshana do we?”
“It's so good to see you well. I was saddened by the change in our king. My first thoughts went out to you. Before I knew about his coma, I had asked him when he was going to go see you again. He looked at me with confusion, so I didn't bring it up again. That's when Laila, the other concubine, told me about his amnesia. I'm sorry, my queen.” Jade said then looked towards the ground.
“Thank you for visiting me. You were of great help to us during those times.”
“The main reason I came was, I know you are a genius when it comes to interdimensional programming. The King is looking to contract people with these skills. I know you don’t need the money but I thought it would be a great way to be around his majesty. And maybe he will start to remember you again.” Jade nervously twiddled with her thumbs. She was being very bold and in front of the vampire king, of all people.
“Thanks for visiting me Jade.” Josey repeated. Jade bowed and took her leave.
“That’s not a bad idea.” Cofer reiterated.
Josey looked down then back up at Cofer. “We should probably get ready for the ball.”
Cofer mind linked with Lincoln and Shion. The couple were going to wear navy blue with gold embellishment on their clothing for the ball. Since Kings attended with their Queens there would be a 1 hour window where only royalty danced, switching partners periodically.
Once they were ready Lincoln and Shion took their leave. A dark mist of souls covered both of their feet. They floated through a portal that placed them above the entrance staircase for royalty. Their entrance brought the room to complete silence. Josey’s eyes glowed; she could feel the desires of the men around her but she had no plans to take any souls that night. Cofer smirked. His wife's beauty was unchallenged, of course there would be plenty that desired her.
Her dress was not traditional. It was short and clung to her curves. Her train jutted out from the waist line below her breasts and flowed out over the back of her legs, to hide her baby bump. When they reached the bottom of the stairs they were greeted by Liv and Adiv. This was the first time they had been able to meet their Queen of Desires in person. Cofer placed his hand out for them to kiss and then introduced them to Josey.
“May we know our true Queen’s name?” Adiv requested.
“If we are being too bold, please forgive us.” Liv quickly inserted. Cofer could tell they were nervous.
“Queen Sueli.” Josey said in a slightly annoyed tone.
“Oh thank you my King and Queen for greeting us. “ The twins smiled large and stepped to the side, still bowing deeply.
They made their way to the seating for the guests of high royalty. Cofer noticed once they left the steps that Josey’s walk had changed. She had a gentle sexy sway and he caught her licking her lips then biting them. Sueli was oozing out. Not enough to change Josey’s smell but enough to make her look very seductive. They greeted the other kings and queens then sat and waited for the King and his new Queen to make their entrance.
The men continued to stare at Josey, like they were imagining themselves with her. After about 10 minutes Cofer found himself angry. A low growl came from Cofer and he bared one of his fangs at the men around him and those openly staring snapped out of their trance.
“Was that really necessary, My King?” Sueli said jokingly.
“Don’t f*****g play with me Sueli.” Cofer mind linked her.
The music changed and a ballad started to play. King Valin of Wilshana and Queen Zelah of Milv, gracefully stepped through the entrance above the staircase. He wore a suit much like the one he wore to the ball after his marriage to Crema. Josey remembered removing that suit and enjoying the feel of his skin and muscles against her finger tips. The thoughts of sitting in the large bath and him telling her every detail of the past 3 years made her want to cry.
She slowly turned away from the couple. She didn’t want others to see how emotional their marriage made her. On top of being as gorgeous as she remembered him, his wife was a generic Queen. Her long blonde hair flowed and dangled over her big hazel eyes. She was beautiful. [Why would he choose us?] Josey found herself nervously playing with her hands. Everyone in the room bowed to the couple until they made it to their thrones. Soon the royal dance would began.
For the royal dance, every King and Queen received a number from 1 to 7. They would match up with the number they randomly chose. Every time the music changed the women’s number would increase by 1 and they would dance with that number until all 7 numbers had a dance. Josey had a 3 and Cofer had a 4. The men lined up according to their number and the women approached them and gracefully bowed. Cofer would get Josey’s second dance, King Valin would get her 1st.
All the dance partners danced around the King and whoever his partner was. When Josey bowed in front of Valin, she thought she would faint from excitement. When he touched her hand she had to remind herself to breathe. He pulled her close to him and relaxed his hand on her waist. They danced like they were meant to dance together. He stared into her eyes, as she stared into his. His smile was precious, she didn’t want it to end.
“The darkness below your feet. What is it?” Valin asked while they turned in rhythm with the music.
“They are my servants who exist in the afterlife.” Josey said while trying her hardest not to look overwhelmed.
“His breath smells sweet. He must have had some of his favorite strawberry wine.” Josey thought to herself. She wished she could say the things that were on her mind but she didn’t want him to know they were previously in love.
As he continued small talk, she could see him constantly trying to avoid looking at her body. His hands were shaking a little.
He reminded her of her argument with Cofer. He had made several good points. He said that trying to remind Valin of his past would put him in an awkward position. Unlike previously, everything was thought out and planned over time. So he was mentally ready to hide their secrets. Just telling him that there was some form of intimate relationship between him and the Queen of another nation could make him nervous or anxious around his new Queen. He would have a hard time concealing this anxiety. In effect, losing the trust of those around him and possibly incriminating himself. Her only comeback was “He promised, I would always have his heart.”
