Her
The sound of tears dropping, echoed into the nothingness. Her voice rang out every time she whispered his name, “Valin”. She was used to being shrouded in darkness. Waiting for her ray of light to cull her raging soul. Day after day passed and she started to realize it would never come again. His soft moans. The sensitivity that he displayed while holding her curvy shell of a body brought her immeasurable joy. She was a demon. An otherworldly being granted access to the human realm through a gorgeous woman named Josey. A woman who spent so much time dawdling over her worth and her place in society and all she could do was listen. A year or so before Josey turned 21, Sueli started trying to speak. Her words were grimy, and reeked of death. She was hell's spawn, a s****l beast that only understood blood and lust. But she wasn’t the only one trying to live vicariously through this earth-bound vessel. The other being wasn’t even born yet. She lingered within the tomb in which dormant souls dwelled. A tomb Sueli knew all too well. She wanted to wake this soul. But its thirst for blood was seeping out of the tomb it was buried in. It caused Josey to have nightmares filled with tortured spirits, yearning to drag her to the depths of hell. Sueli’s tomb was starting to crack also. She could feel the presence of a strong desire or need from the moment she became aware. Occasionally, she would get full access to her vessel for a smidgen of time and see through her vessel's eyes. Every time it occurred it was because of the s****l tension coming from a distance. Whomever was watching her desired her more than life itself. Sueli’s desire to become one with Josey grew stronger than ever several months before her birthday. The men that lusted after her vessel each had different levels of desire. She didn’t have to see their faces to know who they were, the stench coming from them was enough. The smell made her hungry, she wanted to taste their flesh. Swirl their blood in her mouth, teasing her pallet with a preview of the meal to come. And then she smelled it. A scent unlike the others. A scent so dominating and pure, she thought about forcing herself out of her cracked tomb. Her unformed soul trembled and swayed like waves in a turbulent ocean, the moment he touched her vessel. “Valin” was the word that sailed through the darkest corners of her vessel's mind. Those were the days she found herself going back to. His name lingered. Lingered on the tip of her tongue, but he was not there to hear them. After she was set free, she still remained quiet. The bloodthirsty soul that was entombed next to her had dissipated and was replaced by another. The vampire soul of Rodvelum had merged with her. He gave Josey the ability to keep up with Cofer’s bloodlust and she could also consume and metabolise blood, something that brought Cofer immense s****l pleasure. Sueli and Josey loved the way he tasted and the sounds he made when they partook of him. Without Valin, she tried focusing on her vessel’s studies. She tried leaning on the man her vessel loved, and she cherished too. He was not Valin. He was a demon like she was. His face mocked her yearning just like the perpetual grey skies that covered Nethersigh. She hated to think her whimpering and crying for Valin were interrupting her vessel's love life. “But what about me Cofer?” She would whisper unconsciously. Sueli could see the concern in his eyes. He was always watching her vessel from afar, timid and nervous. She could only imagine that he felt as strongly for his human as she felt for hers. ----- The cloudy sky shone its ominous light onto the kingdom of vampires and their brethren. The blood-stained streets were finding new life with the removal of the previous residence's corpses. The newborns that survived the battle with Priesham were living lives in larger homes. They were free from running from persecution. They no longer had to hide in Merrium. The streets bustled and the people smiled. It would have been a crazy sight to see for a mere human. Half of the people were themselves stained in blood, a badge they were honored to wear. They washed and steamed the streets and fixed windows in their new homes. Cofer couldn’t say he wasn’t ambitious in his endeavors. That was pretty obvious. He killed a lot of people just to become King of Nethersigh or just because. Perspective. Cofer and Josey were busy approving new business occupants.Interviewing and placing new teachers at the university. Cofer was happy to see a lot of familiar faces from the university were on board with his mass reorganization of Nethersigh. Assuring those who did not have a chance to flourish before had all of the resources they needed as a new vampire or a continuing family member. The paperwork kept both husband and wife buried. They moved into the manor next door to Josey's parents' home. It was a lot smaller than what hewas used to but it was temporary. Prince Evansly and Lincoln were assisting with the blueprint and layout for his new above ground castle. The castle would stand in the same place as the old one, in front of Divine Forest. They had to create a temporary barrier, now that Cofer's family castle was gone. There was no way to keep people from venturing into the deadly forest without posting guards. Other than the forest, most properties were neatly intact and furnished. Many pictures and memorabilia were placed in a large capsule and buried by address. Signifying the burial of those civilians that died in battle. Cofer stood looking out of the 3rd floor window of his office. His stomach was in knots. He wasn't sure if it was due to the babies giving Josey a hard time or Sueli's sorrow about losing Valin. Losing Valin hurt almost as much as losing his parents. Almost but not quite. Sometimes he found it hard to look into her eyes. He knew every time she said, "I'm okay." or "I will work through it.", she was lying. Their connection transcended the human realm. It had been almost 2 months since he carried Valin's body through the portal back to Wilshana. Josey and Sueli screamed and cried. Sueli sounded like Josey had a slight echo. It was fairly unsettling. She grabbed at his arms and begged him not to take her love away from her. Seeing her in such a state still causes a tear to escape his eye from time to time. When he arrived at Dsa's room, he had her change his shirt. Then he explained the plan, which included her waiting before she called for help. After returning and finding that Josey was pregnant, he had to meet with the conjurers to figure out how to create a fake pregnancy. Dsa needed to be pregnant so that Valin's child could be in the running for the throne. They quickly conjured up a serum that would bring a docile soul temporarily from hell. He got the serum for her within hours. She drank it and momentarily buckled over in pain. Cofer knelt down, ignoring her pain, and stated, "Make sure you notify William of your pregnancy after you report Valin's situation." Cofer stated, along with general information regarding how far along she was and why she just realized it. "Yes, My Lord." "Even if they think you killed him, they will allow you to live long enough to have the baby." Dsa bowed and followed Cofer's lead without fail. Cofer was 100 % certain that no human doctor would deny she was with child. Her body would develop like any other pregnant woman. The guilt gnawed at his wavering soul every day. He couldn't even share an office with her. He wanted so badly to hold her and make the pain go away. From the east side of his office he could see Josey's office. Their home was made up of two manors that were back to back to each other. Each home had 3 floors with 3 bedrooms, 2 living rooms, and a large kitchen. Since the kitchen was on the 3rd floor of the 2nd home, it was converted to laboratory space. Having their homes set up in this manner gave them the illusion of space. They were a king and queen and needed to live as such. Since Josey had graduated she was never really able to practice what she learned from all of those years of studying. She wanted to take her knowledge and put it to good use while attempting to be a perfect queen. Since the appearance of Sueli, Josey was nervous about having to 'feed' her. She had told him that Sueli's feelings and needs had become stronger after Valin's demise. The elder conjurer had also voiced concern about Sueli's growing strength but he was adamant that her 'feeding' could wait until Josey had their babies. So many things were being built and torn down in those days. Cofer felt like this was starting to be a common theme in his life. He had built this strong, loving relationship with this beautiful woman but one day he would have to tear it down. One of the floors was built on a shaky foundation.
