The song started to come to an end, Josey looked down and away from Valin. She could feel those tears she fought back earlier starting to force their way to the surface.
“Are you okay?” Valin asked, sensing a change in his dance partner.
“I’m fine. Congratulations on your marriage. May you have a well balanced life and love.” Josey spoke quickly then curtsied.
Valin stood speechless like he wasn’t ready for their dance to end. She watched him work to snap himself back to reality. Josey searched for Cofer. She needed him. She needed to bury her face into the corner of his neck and squeeze him tight.
As soon as she saw him, she ran into his arms and the music started back up. She held him tight and apologized. “You were right. I’m not ready.” Sueli and Josey cried. Sueli’s darkness started to slowly consume Josey's body while they danced. Cofer heard gasps and Liv and Adiv muttered, “My Queen.”. He couldn’t believe he did not notice the change. He was so wrapped up in consoling them. “Sueli dial it back. We don’t want to scare Valin, do we?” Cofer whispered. The darkness emanating and dancing around Josey’s body had caused everyone to stop what they were doing and watch her.
Sueli worked to calm herself, she didn’t want to interrupt Valin’s wedding ball any more than she had already. They kept dancing. If Josey had left the dance floor, there would be one King without a partner for each dance, which would be disrespectful. By the time the song had ended, Sueli and Josey had calmed down. The last 5 dances went off without another mishap. The Kings seemed more intrigued by her than scared. The last dance was between Valin and Zelah.
Josey danced with Solvain for her last dance.
“So..you are struggling, yes?” Solvain asked.
He was the only person that knew somewhat about their past with Valin.
“I don’t know what you are talking about Solvain.” Josey said in a monotone voice.
“I can see. You look at him almost the way you look at your king. My father had a thought that Valin may be in cahoots with Cofer but there was no proof.”
“Take care of your next words, your majesty.” Sueli growled.
“Well...that was terrifying. Uhm..{tch} okay.” Solvain looked off into the distance. He didn’t want to make this person angry by far. Her petite and dainty composure was definitely a facade.
After the royalty dance ended, everyone took their seats. Many were still staring at Josey including Valin. The nobles danced and the high royalty were served a 7 course meal with wine. There were discussions around the table, many wanting to discuss the battle with Silverius or if it was true that Cofer took over 5,000 hostages. Before Cofer could smile and talk about the body count, Valin stepped in.
“Let’s not discuss such barbarism during my wedding ball. Feel free to discuss that during YOUR leisure.” He said then nodded at the people at the table. Josey could feel a yearning to be touched, building inside of her. His voice, his smell, they were all riling her up. She leaned over and whispered into Cofer’s ear.
“I want you to f**k me so hard that, for a moment, I forget he exists.” Cofer almost coughed his food up as he watched his wife passively go back to nibbling on her food as if those savory words never left her lips.
Cofer sat speechless. He was ready to go when she was. Knowing Josey though, she was going to wait until the ball ended or the hosts took their leave for the evening.
He mind-linked her, “I’m ready to head out when you are?”
She turned and looked at him confused, “Why?”
Cofer chuckled then went back to eating. [Damn it, Sueli.] Then it hit him, Sueli just said those things. He was more aroused now with that information.
“I never thought I would live to see the day that Amicus Dia..bo..lo would be sitting next to a beautiful loving wife and sharing a meal with his fellow Kingsmen.” King of Tillium barked out and then started to chuckle.
Cofer however was not amused. “Shall I kill a few people in here to meet your expectations?” Cofer scoffed. The King of Tillium stopped laughing and held his head down, “I apologize. I opened my mouth to compliment you on finding such a beautiful wife and I said something ignorant. Please accept my apology.”
“As you were.” Cofer stated then lightly waved his hand.
He was only there for Valin, it would bring him great pleasure to kill everyone of the nobles in the room.
While the table sat and ate quietly under the melody of the symphony, Valin decided to break the silence. “Queen Josey, I was told you are a genius at creating and designing interdimensional machinery. Is that true?”
“Yes. I graduated from the University with my PHD in Interdimensional Analytics, with emphasis on engineering and teleportation, this year.”
“Wow. My guest list showed you are but 21,”
“Yes, that's true.
“I am looking for some assistance in hiring people with your type of background. I believe what I need is beneath you and your pay grade but I would love to get your opinion.” Valin continued.
Josey was happy that he wanted to talk to her but she couldn’t let it show.
“I will speak with my husband about it and get back to you.” Josey said then turned and took a long sip of wine.
As the night wound down after the, what felt like 100th toast, Zelah whispered to her king that she was going to turn in for the evening. The party was going on much later than it was scheduled.
“It is that time. Thank you all for coming. The conversation and kinsmanship was the cherry on top of this beautiful day.” Valin smiled and raised his glass one more time.
“He’s leaving us to be with her.” Sueli whispered. She was defeated at least for the night.
Valin took Zelah’s hand and followed her up the stairs. Though he was drunk, he looked forward to consummating his marriage.
Zelah guided them into their shared bedroom at the back of the palace. Her lady in waiting stood ready to relieve her mistress of her clothing.
Valin sat on the bed loosening his tie and unbuttoning his suit. He attentively watched the bustier, stockings, along with the many other wardrobe items fall from his new wife’s body.
Her body was pure. Not one blemish vacated her skin. His councilmen had told him that she was bred to be a queen. He would’ve liked someone who was more down to earth but he agreed to this relationship before his coma. He was not going to go back on his word. After 5 minutes of watching Zelah be unclothed, Valin became impatient.
He stood up and made his way over to her partially naked body. He glided his hand over her porcelain neckline, then leaned in to smell her hair. It smelt of roses or spring. He pushed his lips against her forehead, pulling her body close to his own. She seemed unphased by his affection. He wanted to see a different face, one that would solidify her emotional investment in their marriage.
He pushed his hands into her dress slip forcing it to the floor.
He signaled for the lady in waiting to exit then continued his probe of this emotionless queen.
She pushed past him and laid in the bed, legs open just enough to complete her wifely duties. Valin wasn’t going to give her the satisfaction of just getting it over with. He was drunk and horny. Her lack of attraction to him made him irritated. He slapped then massaged her right breast and sucked hard on the left one. Not one moan escaped her lips. He sighed then rolled his eyes. He really was in no mood to play her game. His length was hard and he was ready.
He pushed her legs forward then entered her. She quietly winced in pain. She was definitely a virgin. While he was angry, he didn’t want to hurt her. He closed his eyes and thought of Dsa and then Laila. He slowly pushed himself deep into her then gave her a moment to adjust. Within the silence that surrounded his own moans was a woman so bent on perfection she couldn’t step out of her comfort zone for one night. [Does she think moans are unlady-like?]
After he came inside of Zelah, he almost cried. His feelings of loss were stronger when he slept with her. [Why?] He rolled off of her and laid on his back, staring into the darkness under the canopy. With haste Zelah made her way out of the bed. She gathered the robe that her lady in waiting left for her and slid into it.
She rang the bell on the night stand then said “I will be heading back to my room. Sweet dreams my king.”
“Good Night, My queen.” Valin replied. He wondered if his previous wife was that boring in bed. He wished he could remember more. But they were not together long before she was killed. He wiped the tears from his face and lost himself in his thoughts. [What’s wrong with me?]
