Reese’s POV The moment her lips touched mine, I felt it. It was like our souls had become one. I could hear the sound of her heartbeat. She felt it to. The wanton desire that rose up in me as I held her. My wolf have a loud growl and my eyes widen. She was my mate? How was that possible? She pulls away from the kiss so suddenly, her eyes filled with disappointment. “How is this possible?” She whispered, tears welling up in her eyes as she backed away from me like I was garbage. “N-no. This shouldn’t be. It cannot be!” She still managed to keep her tone low as she shook her head furiously, the tears that she was fighting back now flowing freely. Was she that disappointed in having me as a mate? I wouldn’t lie, it hurt seeing her act like this but I knew that she couldn’t be blamed. We were meant to be enemies just like our ancestors have been for centuries. Not mates. After all this years, I finally got a mate but she turns out to be my clans sworn enemy. “Can you calm down? This isn’t pleasant to me either.” I say, running a hand through my hair. Her actions were starting to piss me off. “You do not understand! Father will be disappointed in me. I have let everyone down!” She cried harder, her chest heaving up and down like she had just lost a loved one. “Why would you even think that? It’s not like you f****d me and got pregnant. This is no one’s fault.” She shook her head, looking at me like I was a devil. “This is wrong!” She yells. “There’s no point fighting this, Blaze. It is done already.” I say, finding it hard to believe myself. I still hadn’t told her that I was the prince. My situation was far worse than hers. The prince of the seven kingdoms, only son of Alpha Jethro, mated to an outcast? Father would kill her if he finds out. “f**k!” She screams hitting my chest repeatedly until I stop her, pulling her to me to calm her down. I expect her to push me away like she had always been doing but this time around she slumps on my chest in defeat, crying and sniffing softly. “I’m sorry.” I didn’t know why I was apologizing but I just did. Perhaps it would help her feel better. To be honest, I had always been attracted to Blaze from our first encounter but I never saw this coming. Deep down, I was happy it was her. *** My eyes flutter open, the moonlight from the windows serving as a source of light for the room. Judging from my awkward position on the floor, I must’ve slept off. Shit! They must be searching for me at the Palace. How did I forget about that? Blaze? Where is she? I stand slowly, my eyes searching for her but she seemed to be nowhere around! “Blaze!?” Where could she have gone at this hour? What if she is caught?! Goodness! I run out of the house like a mad man, my eyes scanning the entire place for a sign of her but the empty stable catches my attention. She took the horse! As if on cue, I hear galloping sounds a few meters away. I run as fast as I can towards the direction of the sound and as expected, it was indeed blaze running off with my horse. She must really want to get herself killed. “Blaze! Stop. What are you doing? You’ll get yourself killed.” I scream, chasing after her but she didn’t seem to listen as she just continued running, her head turning to look at me briefly. Fucking hell! She would die at this rate. Thankfully, I was a fast wolf and didn’t have to change to do that so I run after her. She began kicking the horse, beckoning on it to go faster and I increase my speed, catching up with her as I push her down the horse. She falls down but I am quick to catch her and we both land on the ground with a loud thump. “Where do you think you’re going?” I ask, holding her strongly so she doesn’t run away once again. “Let me go!” She fights, pushing me off with an incredible strength that I couldn’t quite understand myself. I barely managed to steady myself as the force she used was to much for my wolf to handle. “Can you stop? Please!” I scream, my voice echoing across the lonely street. It was almost midnight and we were the only ones out. It was too dangerous for her. Although, after seeing that stunt she just pulled, I was beginning to wonder if she was actually going to be in danger of anything happened. “I can’t stay here with you, Reese. I came here with a purpose and I plan on achieving that.” She says with a stern look, determination strong on her face. What purpose could she be talking about? Did she... She came here as a f*****g spy??! “Are you..” “Yes, Reese. I came here to learn about the weakness of your people and how my people can win. Do you know see that we cannot be together? We are enemies!” She screams to my face, her eyes red with anger. I take few steps back, away from her as the realization sets in. She was right. We are from different worlds. Different people who only want to kill each other. I will continue to obey my father’s instructions and kill her people while she will continue to look for ways to stop us. This is the reality. Why did I think that us being mates would suddenly put an end to all of it? “Fine. Leave then, Blaze. And never come back.”
