Blaze’s POV Getting into the main town wasn’t a problem for me since I blended in properly. The only thing that seemed to stand out was my red hair. I was the only wolf in four centuries to be gifted with the abilities of a mega wolf, which had the red hair as a trade mark. Thankfully, a lot of people didn’t know about this so I pretty much lived a normal life. This is why the entire team of warriors protect me with their all. I was their trump card. I didn’t know how much the folks in the main town knew about the Mega wolf but I didn’t want to take my chances so I cover my hair completely. “Woah.” I gasped as I walked through the streets. It was a lot different from ours and was heavily populated as everywhere seemed to be busy. Horses and carriages were all over the place with ladies and men in posh clothing, just like Reese. Even the buildings looked different, tall and carefully designed. Everything was beautiful. Seeing all of this only made me infuriated, much more than I was before. They were living a life of luxury while we were forced to live like scavengers. My face twisted, looking at their happy faces. How dare they live with no worries when they were causing others pain. Killing and capturing my kind. One day, I will make sure they no longer have smiles on their faces and live in fear. Just like my people. My tummy rumbles loudly, notifying me that I hadn’t eaten a single thing since I left home. “Enough with the revenge talk. You won’t be able to do anything if you die. Get some food for us.” My wolf Anika said and I nod in response. She was damn right. “Can I get two of these for four pennies.” I ask an old lady who had a table full of delicious looking treats. Thankfully, I had enough money to last me for a month. “Sure, my child.” She smiles at me and it takes every bit of self control in me to not talk back at her. I wasn’t okay with a heartless monster like her and everyone else in this city calling me that. It disgusted me. “Thank you.” I force myself to say and suddenly feel a pair of eyes on me. The fear of being caught before I even had the chance to carry out my mission made me turn quickly to see who it was. “Blaze.” My breathe hitched. My heart did a thousand summersaults before it felt like it had stopped beating and my throat ran dry immediately. His eyes were on me like he had just seen a ghost. “It is you. What are you doing here, Blaze?” I might be wrong but his tone was laced with worry, genuine worry. I turn around immediately and run, fast. What were the f*****g chances that in a city as big as this, I would bump into him? What sort of sick joke is this? I feel a strong pair of arms pull me. “Let me go!” I whisper harshly so that I wouldn’t cause a scene and get myself exposed. I shoot him a death stare but he doesn’t seem fazed by it, instead it made him angry. “You’re coming with me.” His jaw hardened, pulling me along with him to wherever despite my many attempts to get him off. What pissed me off more was the fact that I couldn’t use my strength since I was hiding. “Where are you taking me?” No reply. He just keeps moving swiftly through the crowd of people, his hands never leaving mine. This was embarrassing. Once we get to the gate of the market, he whistles loudly and I raised a brow. What the hell was he doing? Less than a minute later, I see a white horse running towards us. The appearance of the horse was even better than mine and I had to question if we weren’t even lesser than their animals. “Get on.” He orders and I narrow my eyes at him. “Are you crazy? Why would I listen to you?” “Because you’re in my city. Now, get on.” His voice irks me even more and I remove my hand from his hold, looking him dead in the eye. “No.” I was immediately hoisted up in the air and before I could protest, I was on his horse. He immediately joined in, climbing the horse effortlessly as he sat behind me, his hands brushing my breasts as he took a hold of the reins. “Where are you taking me?” I ask, letting out an exasperated groan but he didn’t seem to care about my thoughts and feelings. He was completely different from the Reese I met back home. As expected, he doesn’t give me a reply, instead he rides faster until we get to a lonely house, away from the populated part of the city. Was this his house? It certainly looked expensive and had signs of life so I might be right. It was decorated beautifully with flowers and had a little garden at the front. He jumps down first and stretches his hand to help me but I slap it away and do it myself. I watch quietly as he leads the horse to it’s stable and pulls me into the house, the door creaking slowly. The rich scent of lavender welcomes us, a big living room in front of us, telling me that he was definitely rich. I wonder what his occupation was for him to be this rich at such a young age. As soon as we enter his living room, he turns to me with fire in his eyes. “ What the f**k are you doing here?” “You already asked that. Be more creative.” “No, seriously. Do you want to get yourself killed?” There was something different about him. He didn’t look like the Reese I was familiar with instead, he had more aura. His confidence level was also on a high rise. I rolled my eyes at his question. Of course I didn’t want to get myself killed. “I have my reasons. Who do you even think you are to stand there and question me!” I c**k my head to the side, squinting my eyes at him. He doesn’t respond but his jaw tightens, a look that I wasn’t familiar with spreading across his face. “You do not know what you’re getting yourself into, Blaze. This isn’t some playground for you.” I flare up at his statement, my hands itching to connect with his cheek. “What I do or how I live my life doesn’t concern you. You are nothing to me, you hear me?” I spit in his face, turning to leave when he grabs my arm harshly, pinning me to the wall so that he was now a few inches away from me. “Watch your tone, Blaze. This isn’t the outlands.” The low tone of his voice almost have an effect on me but I was stronger than that. His empty threats have nothing on me. “f**k you!” I say and his eyes darken. His eyes travel down to my lips before looking back at my eyes. “Say that again.” He dares and the stubborn wolf in me complies, louder this time. “I said f**k you, you-” Before I complete my sentence, his lips crash down on mine and my eyes widen. An unfamiliar scent filling my nostrils. “Mate?”
