Reese’s POV
I still couldn’t believe that blaze would actually leave. I waited, hoping she would change her mind and come back but I get no response. It was already 7 in the morning so I decide to give up and head back to the palace.
The plan was to sneak in and act like I had been there all along to avoid any problems from father. Thankfully, only a few maids see go in. I walk briskly to my room only to find the door already open. At first, I think it is mother who was in but after seeing the maid’s attire, I sigh in relief and go in.
“Good morning, my prince. I was assigned to your room.” The maid says with an oddly familiar voice. I knew that voice too well. I do not say anything but wait for her to turn towards me and when she does, I cannot help the expression on my face.
What is she doing here?
“You?! What are you doing here? Are you stalking me?” There was a frown on her face as she ran her sharp mouth. If anyone should be confused here, it should be me.
Did she leave my house just to come into the palace? She obviously doesn’t know how dangerous this place is.
“I should be asking you that again, Blaze. What are you doing here?” I ask her and the frown on her face changes to realization as she looks around and sees a portrait of I, my father and mother hanging above the bed.
I really didn’t want her to find out that I am a prince, not like this.
“Are you? Oh my God!” She yelled but I quickly clasped my hand around her mouth, shutting the door. Her back was pressed to the wall with my hands over her mouth. She looked mortified.
I am supposed to take my hands off her but I find myself lost in her eyes. Her sweet scent drawing me closer. It was the mate bond and I knew she could feel it. I could feel her heart beating loudly and her eyes held a longing look. Her brain didn’t want me but it was impossible to ignore the mate bond.
She wanted me as much as I did.
A few seconds later, I come to my senses and pull away from her, taking my hands away from her lips which immediately start calling me but I fight the urge.
“I… How is this possible? You… you lied to me!” She accuses with wide eyes, pointing her index finger at me.
“I didn’t lie to you. I just didn’t say anything. Besides, you never asked.” I tell her, turning to lock the door. If anyone finds out about an outcast being here, she’ll die before I am able to save her.
“Are you being serious right now? You were there when I bad mouthed the king and prince of this shitty kingdom but still, you decided to play dumb.” She says with a stern expression, her veins nearly popping from how angry she was.
“You know what? You need to leave. Now!” I say grabbing her arm as I pulled her to the door but she quickly pulls her arm back with her wolf strength and retreats.
“Leave? I just got here. I’m not leaving until I see my mother!” She growled, her eyes changing to a light shade of red which showed that she was pissed.
“You don’t understand, Blaze. You’re not safe in this kingdom. It’s even worse here in the palace. My father is searching for the ACE wolf like a mad man. He knows so well what you’re capable of. If you are caught by him, he’ll do everything in his power to subdue you and take control of you. You are throwing yourself into the Lion’s den, Blaze.” I explain to her with the hope that she’ll understand and leave but my words fall on deaf ears, as usual.
“I don’t care what you say, Reese. I’m not leaving here until I get what I want and that is final. You can..” Her sentence is cut off by a knock on the door and Fredrick’s voice can be heard from the other side.
“I have a disguise on. It’s fine.” She clears her throat and moves away from me as she goes over to open the door. Frederick stood outside with a lustful grin on his face as he eyed Blaze up and down. Even though he had a mate, he never stopped with his whoring acts.
“Well, well, well. Who do we have here?” He wets his lip as his eyes scan Blaze. I could see that she was barely holding herself since she didn’t want to be exposed. I step in, blocking Blaze from his gaze.
“No one.” I tell him and turn to Blaze. “Leave.” I say and she dashes off without turning back. As soon as she is out of sight, I hear Fredrick click his tongue and I can already imagine what thoughts must be going through that dirty mind of his.
“So.. are you f*****g her?” As soon as the words leave his lips, I roll my eyes. I expected as much.
“Not everyone is a w***e like you, Fred.” I tell him and he pouts, making himself comfortable on my bed.
“Come on. You were in here alone with that pretty thing. Let’s not forget that the doors were locked. What do you expect me to think? Anyone would think you had something going on with her.” He said and if he wasn’t my friend, I would have given him a punch.
“I don’t owe you any explanation. Just know that I’m not f*****g her.”
‘Yet.’ My wolf corrects in my head, howling in excitement. I clear my throat and turn to the other side so that he doesn’t notice my cheeks turning red like that of a teenager.
“Alright, your majesty.” He says jokingly.
“Any word from my father?” I ask and he looks at me like I had suddenly gone mad.
“You haven’t heard?” He asks with a look of surprise on his face and I nod. From the look on his face, I could tell that something had happened with my father.
“He put a price on the ACE wolf. Whoever finds the wolf and delivers it to him gets a position in the palace. The entire city is out looking for the wolf.” He said and my heart shook with fear.
They were all looking for Blaze. f**k, she needs to leave.
Frederick raises his hand as through he was trying to remember something and after a few seconds, he clicks his fingers.
“That’s not all. Thanks to Lady Thompson, the eye of the goddess, we were able to learn that the ACE wolf is a red haired woman. It made the work easier for us.”
Oh No!
