Deal or No Deal

*Maddix POV* DJ, Caleb, and I are listening in on the conversation Damian is having with River's captors. I wanted to scream at him through the phone to not make that deal. These people are shady, and something just felt so wrong about it all. I was thankful that he demanded that River be released immediately into his care, and that he made sure the challenge would take place on Spirit Mountain territory. However, I was more worried about what stipulations that Lance and Bart were going to include. "I agree with those rules and conditions, Big Brother. I have a condition of my own. Just one," Lance stated. Damian told him to state it, and I could hear Lance start to stammer over his words. "Spit it out, Lance," Damian bellowed. Lance started to laugh and finally said, "No shifting. We fight this as men." Damian cleared his throat and gave a slight chuckle. "Are we afraid, little brother? You have a wolf as big as Zion, if not bigger. Why not fight like the werewolves we are, considering you want to be Alpha of a werewolf pack. However, if it means that much to you, and you are that scared, we can not shift, but here is the additional stipulation for that request. None of your people can shift either, and I will make sure none of mine does. It will be one on one, just me and you, no outside interference. Oh, and no weapons. Deal?" I could hear Lance's mother telling him to not take that deal, and if he didn't, it truly showed how much of an i***t this kid could be. "No deal, you are much stronger than me, Damian. You know you are. This wouldn't be a fair fight," Lance screamed. "Then it looks like we are at a stalemate. I have already told you that I refuse to just hand you over a pack that I fought for. How will you ever prove yourself strong enough to be an Alpha, if you don't fight for what you want or believe in, Lance?" Damian asked. I was starting to get really nervous about the situation, so I messaged Timmy to be ready. I had a feeling that I was going to have to send in reinforcements. "Don't judge me, Damian. You have no right to judge anyone after the things I have seen you do. The things you did to dad, the things you did to my mom, and even cheating on your mate with Sasha. You didn't think I knew about that, did you?" Lance spat. I could feel my anger building. Did he just say that Damian cheated on Alette? Timmy kept messaging me, wanting to know what to do, so I told him to hang tight for a minute. To wait for my go ahead. "What I did to dad and your mom? What did I do exactly? I killed a horrible man who did despicable things to young girls, and YOUR mom knew about it and didn't give two shits the damage it caused to them. As far as my mate, I have never laid a hand on another woman sexually since I met my wife. If someone has told you otherwise, it's a lie," Damian screamed. I heard Sandra start to spew obscenities at Damian, and Lance must have gotten closer to him because his voice was more prominent. "Sasha showed me the video proof! While your wife was recovering from childbirth, you had your way with your ex. I SAW IT!" Lance screeched. "If you have proof, I would like to see this myself. I have witnesses who can place me at the hospital the WHOLE time Alette and my boys were there," Damian said calmly. He was correct, because I was there with him. Lance was trying to set him up, but I guess they weren't banking on Damian having witnesses. Lance and Sandra started to back peddle, and Bart spoke up during the commotion with the mother and son. "Damian. Alpha, he will accept the terms you have laid out. If he cannot win in hand-on-hand combat against you, then he will deserve the death that he receives. Isn't that right, dearest?," Bart stated. Sandra was now stammering over her words, and she hatefully said that he was right. "Lance will fight you fairly. When and where will this take place?" she sneered. "One week at the Spirit Mountain training fields. The same place I defeated Lawrence. It will commence at noon sharp. Since it is my land, you will only be permitted to bring 10 witnesses, which includes Bart and Sandra. Any others who step foot on my territory will be killed on sight," Damian stated. "We will be there," Bart stated. He ordered the men who were holding River to release him, and I heard Damian reassure my baby brother that he had him. I then heard the elevator doors open, and Damian dragging River inside. When the doors closed, he picked up the phone and asked if I had heard all that was said. I told him I did, and that I had recorded the whole interaction and that DJ and Caleb had heard it too. He sighed in relief, and said he would call me once him and River were far enough away from the location they were at. He wanted to make sure that no one was following them, and needed to have no distractions. We disconnected the call, and the three of us left Jason's office. However, as soon as I walked out, I wanted to go right back in and lock the doors. Alette had arrived. "Where the f**k is he, Maddix?" she screeched. Caleb tried to calm her down, but that was a hopeless task. He obviously has never seen any of my sisters mad. "He's on his way back, Lette, and he has River," I explained. She seemed to calm down a smidge, but the fire in her soul was still lit, and she wanted full answers about why I had let him go alone. "Let's go back to the office, and I'll explain everything." I told her. We let her go in first, and she plopped down into Jason's desk chair. "I'm warning all three of you, don't f**k around with me. You know that I can detect if you're lying, and if you even think about trying, I'll sick mom on your ass!" she warned. I briefly explained the situation, and hopefully she understood why he went alone after she heard everything I said. I played her the recording, and it only pissed her off more. "What the hell is he thinking? He is risking our home over some petty vendetta his pip squeak of a brother has?" she asked. I understood her side of things, but knowing Damian, he wouldn't have accepted and given the terms he did without knowing he would win. "Alette, think about it. Do you honestly think he would risk that chance? He was thinking of saving our brother, and finally ending the bullshit with Lance and his mom. There is more to the plan, but none of us will fully know until they get back here so that he can explain. Give him a break for f***s sake," I demanded. The look she gave me broke my heart. I had hurt her feelings and I felt horrible about it. I just knew unless I was a little harsh, she would keep up the dramatics. She agreed to go with us to get some dinner, and she said she wanted to see her boys first. It was an understandable request, so I took her to where they were. Seeing my little sister with her babies warmed my soul. She was a great mom, and it was something she took pride in. It wasn't long after that Damian came in. He had dropped off River at the hospital to get checked out, and Caleb left to go be with him. When Alette noticed he was there, she jumped up and ran into his arms. He kept apologizing, and after she got into her head that he was fine, she punched him right in the jaw.
