Chapter 3. The Quarrel

1093 Words
“I am Lincoln Sob, the Alpha and the President of Agreleia Academy. It's a pleasure to meet you, Accasia," he said; my mouth fell open in disbelief. He was not who I thought he was. He was... he was Lincoln? How could he manage to stay young for so long? I shook myself out of my thoughts when a voice broke through mine. "Good morning, President Lincoln," two men greeted in unison as they halted beside Lincoln. The first man had long red hair that seemed to glow underneath the sun as he smiled brightly. His skin was tanned, and some tattoos covered his right arm. The second man was just as tall as Lincoln but with dark skin and long curly black hair. "Who is sh—" Lincoln raised his hand, cutting off the man's words. He then stepped a few more steps toward me, enough to close, almost too close, the distance between us as if trying to intimidate me or even show dominance over me. However, I did not back down, nor did my glare falter from his piercing eyes. "Let me make this clear," he started. "I need to do this since you will be part of us. It's the best way to know where exactly you belong." "Wait, wait!" I distanced myself, furrowing my brows. "What are you going to do?" "Recall your past." His words didn't sound convincing. "Wow! Can you do that?" I asked in disbelief, but it seemed my reaction insulted him. Silence prevailed throughout the entire surrounding, then President Lincoln put his palm on my chest and closed his eyes. After only one minute, he pulled away and took a step back with his face full of astonishment. "It's unbelievable," he said, baffled me. "What?" I questioned, but he didn't listen; instead, he put his palm again onto my chest and concentrated. His whole body tensed up, and his eyebrows crumpled at me the moment his eyes opened. "Call the rest of the pack, then go to the Vesma Hall later at exactly 8 p.m.," he commanded to the two men, but he looked straight into my eyes upon delivering those words. "And you're just gonna leave me here?" I asked. He shook his head. "Follow me." We went straight inside the library, and he locked the door. What he did next really startled me. President Lincoln closed his eyes as he whispered in an unfamiliar language. I could barely hear it, but I could feel strange. Suddenly, a surge of energy flared out from him; the floor around us changed colors, transforming to dark brown. The transformation dispersed, passing through the entire library at tremendous speed. The floor beneath me, the bookshelves around me, the wall beside me, and the window glass in every corner changed to dark brown. After watching him, I interrupted him before things got any more interesting. "Uhmm... President Lincoln, look. I know you have supernatural power," I trailed off. "So what's the purpose of all this?" His eyes snapped open after a pause, and then he turned towards me, grinning brightly. "Why don't you just let me finish? So you will understand what I'm about to tell you." I nodded. "Okay. But what exactly are you going to tell me? Why don't you tell me directly? 'Cause if I'm being honest, I don't wanna stay here." He chuckled. "Oh, so you think you're here temporarily?" "Of course." "What a great folly, Accasia. I'm sorry, but you cannot go back to the human world 'cause you're bound to stay here forever." "W-what?!" my eyebrows knit together as I processed this, and then my lips spread into a wide smile. "Don't make any stupid stunts, President Lincoln. I'm not fond of that." "There's no lie in my words, Accasia." "Then let me go. If you're going to imprison me here, I'll just go back to my Grandpa!" I swiveled around and was about to go, but he yelled my name, stopping me. "No! Stop, Accasia!" "What do you expect me to do, President Lincoln? I can't stay here for so long! My Grandpa needs me there!" I yelled as I faced him. My hands were quivering due to the tension, and my mind was sprinting to flee from whatever trap he'd placed here. My eyes deviated to the ground, not wanting him to see my emotions. Suddenly, he strode toward me and pinned me aggressively against one of the bookshelves by my shoulders. "Do you know what happens when people leave? Do you want to die?" he spoke with a sneer, his voice echoing slightly, but the volume remained constant. His grip tightened on me, but I managed to push him away from me. "Tell me what the hell I should do now?" I asked, rolling my eyes in frustration. "This is the map border toward the Covenant hall. Here is an updated one where that area is located." he handed me a map piece. "Are you asking me to do it alone?" I asked crumpled brows. He smirked. "That's the consequence for those who don't know how to respect me. You've been talking to me tactlessly the whole time I've had you here; you haven't even realized it yourself." I looked up at him from underneath my eyelashes; he seemed to enjoy the idea that I was clueless. "You know what, President Lincoln. You are handsome, and I guess many girls are obsessed with you. But don't forget that I'm contrary to them because my whole life has been controlled by your damn fundamentals commandments. I have been evading humans for years. I've been soaking my body in blood every day and night and meditating in darkness while praising the wolf moon silently until could enter this Academy. My life is in a mess because of you!" "I don't care about your opinion. If it weren't for the Prime Minister's rules, I wouldn't ask you to stay here and give you my command." "Fine. I don't need your help anyway." I smiled bitterly and stepped forward. I could practically feel him staring daggers into my head. I knew he disapproved of me talking back to him like that. I was already mad at myself for talking like that, and this was only making it worse, but I couldn't stop myself. I was about to walk out when I remembered I had zero ideas what to do once I reached the Covenant hall. I was about to ask him, but then I was stunned when I spun around.
