Chapter 8

1227 Words
Melissa Eden. The party was in six hours and I still hadn’t chosen a dress. Not that I was bothered, it was Grace I was worried for. She looked like she was going to pass out any moment soon. “ Can you calm down, it’s just a dress. I can get one even an hour to the party. Stop getting worked about it.” I adjust my position on the bed, unbothered by the situation. “ We should really go to the store Melissa. If Nicholas finds out that you’re still here, no one knows what he might do. He already warned you Melissa, we shouldn’t tempt him.” Grace tried to reason with me but I wasn’t having it. Something in me wanted to make him so angry to the point where he sent me packing. After long hours of thinking, I made up my mind to provoke him into kicking me out. If I couldn’t leave myself, I’ll make him do it. “ I’ll be fine Grace. You need to stop worrying about me so much. ” Grace opens her mouth to speak but is interrupted by a bang on the door. “ Are you expecting anyone?” I was as clueless as her. Apart from Nicholas, grace was the only one in the house that entered my room and Nicholas wasn’t so kind as to knock before coming in. Grace opens the door and a three women stroll into the room with a moveable wardrobe, filled with different dresses. “ Hello Mrs. Slade.” The older woman amongst the three ladies who also looked like their boss, said. She was dressed in a blue turtle neck shirt, paired with black leather pants and black boots. Her hair styled effortlessly and her makeup minimal but perfect. The younger girls were also dressed in fashionable clothing, one could easily tell that they were fashion experts. “ My name is Christine Jones and I will be assisting you in preparation for the party. Everything you need, from your dress to your makeup, we are at your service.” Her posture is as straight as a poll as she speaks. “ I’m sorry but I don’t recall calling anyone for assistance. Grace, did you?” I ask looking at Grace with confusion written all over my face. “ No.” Grace immediately says, her expression similar to mine. “ Mr.Slade called me here himself.”. Christine states proudly. I didn’t know who she was talking about. Nicholas and his father were both known as ‘ Mr. Slade’ to the normal world. It was definitely Nicholas. His father wouldn’t have heard that I was reluctant in preparing for his party. “ We have a lot to do Mrs. Slade, I suggest we start now if we don’t want to run behind time.” Christine says as she orders her girls to get the clothes ready for tryouts. One of the reasons why I didn’t want to go shopping, apart from me wanting to frustrate Nicholas, was that I hated shopping. It was too stressful for me so it wowed me to see some ladies having crazy obsessions for shopping. Four hours later. I must confess, Christine was good at her Job. Too good. The gown she chose was a silk royal blue gown that flowed to the ground and was paired with silver jewelries. Jewelries that looked more expensive than my life. I was currently struggling to recognize my self. I looked perfect, a word that was too good to be used for me. My makeup was done to perfection as well as my hair which was styled in a high ponytail with beautifully laid edges to compliment the ponytail. Grace was smiling from ear to ear when she saw the finished work. I would’ve given Christine a kiss if she wasn’t so rude and unapproachable, instead I dismiss her with a thank you which is if course ignored. “ You look stunning Melissa!! Oh my Goodness.” Grace shrieked with excitement. I didn’t realize I was also smiling as much. “ Believe me, no one is going to be able take their eyes off of you tonight especially Nicholas. He’s going to feel so miserable when he sees you.” She says before leaving the room. She was also dressed up, not by Christine though but she still looked pretty nonetheless. She was in a stunning pink dress, her natural curves making the dress look ten times better. A knock on the door tells me that it was finally time to leave for the party. Taking deep breaths, I exit the room bumping into Nicholas who was impatiently waiting at the door followed by two other men, one of them being the same man I saw with Grace the other day. Dylan. Nicholas’s expression shifts to a lustful one the moment he sees me, his eyes scanning every visible part of my body. “ Uhm.. Can we?” I say snapping him out of his daze. Grace was right, from the look of things, his eyes won’t be able to stay off me tonight. “ Yes, we’re already late.” He says, adjusting his neck tie. Nicholas was dressed in a black tuxedo which was paired with a royal blue tie, our colors matching. As much as I hated Nicholas, I couldn’t deny that he was good looking. His looks were enough to make any woman fall to her knees. Any woman but me. “ You’re not to hold conversations with anyone at the party, is that clear?” Nicholas says once we enter the car, moving to a destination that was unknown to me. “ And why would I do that? ” I was beginning to believe that he had a weird obsession with rules. He loved to be in control. Most alphas were born that way actually but Nicholas was too much. He wanted things to be done his way but he still feared his father. Very confusing if you ask me. “ If you want the entire werewolf kingdom to find out that the future Luna of the BLACK MOON PACK is wolfless, be my guest.” He says. I didn’t care about the pack in any way, but it wouldn’t be beneficial to me either. More people were just going to hate me. He was right. The best thing to do was to avoid eye contact with people at the party. “ I thought so too.” Nicholas says causing me to roll my eyes in annoyance. A few minutes later, the car stops in front of a building that looked like something you would only see in the movies. The walls of the building were mad of thick glass so you could only see your reflection in the glass and not was what going on inside. “ Don’t forget what I told you Melissa.” Nicholas warns one last time before leading me into the hall, his hands going around my waist to hold me in place. I knew what could happen if I disobeyed him. Not only was it risky to me, it was risky to the entire clan but if it doing that was going to anger Nicholas, Why not? I was going to make him hate me even more. This was the only way to free myself from him.
