Chapter Eighteen Part One

3006 Words
Jacob’s P.O.V Sam and I talked about Zachary. Zachary is in a jail cell now. I headed inside to look for Renesmee. I searched the kitchen for Sophia, but Renesmee was absent. “Hey Sophia, do you know where your mom is?” I asked. “Ah... no, I haven’t seen her since you guys left. Why?” Sophia asked. “Well, I kind of got her upset.” “What did you do now?” I looked at her with curiosity. “Why does everyone always think I did something wrong?” I asked. “Jacob, you always end up doing something wrong. So what happened?” Sophia asked. “Renesmee is expecting a baby, as we discovered.” “What? That’s great.” Sophia said. “Yeah, but when I left her at the Cullen’s house, she went to the cottage to get her stuff but ran into Zachary.” “What?” “Yeah, I felt her emotions, and she was in trouble. I went to the cottage and attacked Zachary. Renesmee got upset and went inside, not wanting to talk to me now. She says she won’t accept my apologies, and I have to do work for it.” “Well, I don’t blame her. You almost got yourself killed. Especially right before the wedding.” “That’s what Renesmee said.” “She’s right, and I understand why she feels that way.” “So what do I do?” “Don’t apologize. Take her out to dinner.” “Oh, hum... what about the cave at Second Beach I took her once to? She loved it.” “Yeah, you should. I should talk to her.” “No, it’s okay. I must make it up to her, so I must tell her myself.” “Alright, well, good luck.” “Thanks.” I exited the kitchen and proceeded to the upper floor. Then, I strolled through the corridor to reach my bedroom. I had hoped to see Renesmee but couldn’t find her anywhere. Then I recalled she stayed in the guest bedroom, so I walked down the hallway and paused in the bedroom. I entered the bedroom but couldn’t find her. I proceeded to the bathroom and tried to open the locked door. “Nessie, are you in here?” I asked. “Yeah, I’m here. Give me a second.” Renesmee responded. After a moment, the door opened. Wearing a robe, Renesmee looked up at me with her arms crossed. I looked toward the bath to see bubbles, so I assumed she had taken a bath. “What?” Renesmee asked. “I came to talk to you,” I responded. Renesmee huffed and walked past me. “Well, I don’t want to talk,” she said. Renesmee walked over to the door. I followed her and stopped right behind her. “Please, Nessie,” I pleaded. “I want to fix this.” “And I aspire to be alone right now?” Renesmee said. “Nessie.” Renesmee turned around, not saying another word. “Please, I want to take you somewhere tonight,” I said. Renesmee stopped and turned to look at me with a curious expression. “Where?” she asked. “I want to take you to Second Beach to that cave I once took you to?” Renesmee pondered before speaking. “Hum, sure.” I greeted Renesmee with a smile, which made her feel uneasy. Because she avoided eye contact, I lifted her chin to meet her eyes. Renesmee and I exchanged a deep, meaningful look. “You know I love you,” I said. Renesmee nodded. “I never wanted to hurt you,” I said. “I’m trying to protect you, and you know that. You are my everything, my love, and if anything happened to you or our baby, I don’t know what I would do.” “I know, but I wish you could be more careful,” Renesmee said. “I know, and I understand that, but Renesmee, I’m the strongest wolf compared to Sam’s pack. I can end many vampires, so don’t fret.” Renesmee nodded. “Sure, I’ll try.” “Alright, well, I’m going to see Zachary and talk some sense into him. I’ll set up the dinner for us in two hours. So, be ready at six-thirty.” I said. “Okay” Renesmee said. I left the bedroom and headed downstairs to the jail cell. Renesmee’s P.O.V Once Jacob departed, I twiddled my fingers for a moment. I realized Jacob was unaware that Leah had discovered her perfect match. “s**t!” I yelled. I exited the room, sprinted down the hallway, and descended to the jail cell. When I heard Jacob’s voice, I hurried down the stairs. I rushed through the open door to see Leah guarding Zachary. Leah looked at me, and Jacob, following her gaze, felt surprised to see me down there. “Nessie, what are you doing down here? I thought I left you upstairs to get ready.” Jacob said. “You did, but I forgot to tell you that Leah found her imprintee, and he’s Zachary. That’s why you saw Leah on top of him.” I said. Jacob’s eyes widened in surprise, and they spoke. “That explains why I saw them making out.” “Sorry, Jacob. I couldn’t help it. The attraction was there, and my bond with him drew me to him. I just wanted...” Leah said. “I don’t need details. I have already seen enough. Anyway, how did Zachary get out of his cell?” “Well...” Zachary said. “I let him out. I had to be near him.” Leah said. I smiled. I was so glad Leah had found her soul mate with whom she would spend the rest of her life. I observed Jacob’s grave expression. “You know you’re not allowed to open the jail cell without my permission,” Jacob said. “Renesmee told me to talk to him, so I did,” Leah explained. Jacob’s eyes widened. “What?” Jacob asked. He spoke to me in a dark tone: “Nessie, it’s not your decision to let people out of the jail cell. That is my decision, not yours.” My eyes widened at the way Jacob spoke to me. I was his imprintee and their future Luna. “We should leave the room so you guys can talk,” Leah said. With no hesitation, Leah grabbed Zachary’s hand and pulled him along with her. I looked back at them, nodded, and then turned to Jacob, who looked furious. “Jacob, don’t you dare speak to me like that? I’m your imprintee and your soon-to-be Luna. Respect me, and let us decide together,” I said. “Nessie, I appreciate your concern, but these decisions are my responsibility, not yours,” Jacob said. “Then what is my job? Sit while you handle everything.” I said. “No. Your job is like Emily’s job in Sam’s pack. Your job is to care for the pack and protect us as I protect you. But, you must also keep order within the pack. If you’re not by my side when I lose it, I won’t be able to tame myself.” I nodded, smiled, and reassured her, “I’ll be by your side, no matter what.” “I hope so,” Jacob said. I grinned, approached Jacob, and embraced him by wrapping my arms around his neck. I glide my fingers through his hair. Jacob still needed a haircut. His hair on the top had become more prolonged, and the sides were growing. It was hot, but sometimes I liked it short. I looked at Jacob’s face, and he smirked. I looked at him with curiosity. “What?” I asked. “You think I’m hot. Not that I don’t mind you ever saying that, but you never say that,” Jacob said. “Yeah, because you’re always hot.” Jacob chuckled and leaned in to kiss me, and I kissed him back. After a minute, I pulled away to look into Jacob’s eyes. “We should head upstairs. I need to talk to Zachary about joining the pack, since he’s Leah’s imprintee now.” Jacob said. “Okay, well, I will go find Hannah so she can help me prepare for the date.” “Okay.” Jacob planted a kiss on my forehead and left. I left the room, went downstairs, and walked along the hallway. I then stopped at Embry and Hannah’s room. I knocked and then spoke. “It’s me, Renesmee,” I overheard noises coming from the bedroom. Please tell me they were not doing it. Footsteps approached, and the door swung open, revealing Hannah. Since she was still dressed, I interrupted nothing. “Hey, what’s up?” Hannah asked. “Well, Jacob is taking me on a date, and I need your help,” I responded. “Sure.” “Great, well, we’re going on a date at six-thirty.” “What? We only have an hour and a half!” Hannah panicked. “We need to get started now.” “Oh, alright.” “And that means Embry needs to go.” “What?” Embry asked. “Hannah, let’s go to the guest room.” I said. Hannah nodded. “Okay, well, I’ll see you in a bit, Embry,” Hannah said. We exited the bedroom and ascended to the guest room, where my things were. “I heard you and Jacob fought again. Is that why you’re in the guest room right now?” Hannah asked. “Yes, but that’s why we’re going on another date, to seek forgiveness,” I explained. “That’s good. At least you’re giving him a chance.” I nodded. We entered the guest room and closed the door. “Shower now. I’ll find your clothes,” Hannah proposed. “Alright.” I said. “Where is he taking you, though?” “Where our first date was, which is Second Beach.” “Ah, so romantic.” “Yeah, it’s in a cave.” “Ah, even more romantic.” I rolled my eyes, went to the bathroom, and closed the door. I took off my clothes and started the water. Then, I showered and washed my hair with shampoo and conditioner. Once I finished washing my hair, I lathered soap onto my legs, shoulders, arms, and stomach. I also applied it to my pregnant belly and all other areas that needed cleaning. I washed it off, shut off the water, and left. I took a towel and dried myself. While doing that, I experienced abdominal cramps. I let out a groan and placed my hand on my stomach. Why does this keep happening? It’s like every day now. I huffed in annoyance and walked to the cabinet to find the medicine. I took the pain medicine, grabbed a plastic cup, and filled it with water. I then took the pill and swallowed it. Next, I combed my hair and walked out of the bathroom with the towel still wrapped around my body. I saw a black floral dress with pink and silver prints lying on my bed. I thought I would never wear it, but I bought it anyway. I let the towel slip from my grasp. I approached the drawer and chose a strapless black bra and lace underwear. Next, I walked towards the bed, picked up the dress, and put it on. A gentle tapping on the door reached my ears. “Can I come in now?” Hannah asked. “Yes,” I responded. Hannah opened the door, walked in, and saw me in the dress. Her face lit up, and she squealed. “Wow, you look great in it. I’m glad I picked this out.” Hannah said. “Thanks. We need to start on my makeup, and then we will do my hair.” I said. “Okay.” I sat near my makeup table and turned around so Hannah could see me. “I will make you look amazing, so don’t look until I’m done,” Hannah said. “Okay, Hannah, but not overdoing it because we could go swimming too,” I said. “Alright,” Hannah said. Hannah took my makeup kit and started applying my makeup on me. When she finished, she returned to admire the makeover she had done for me. “Perfect. You look amazing.” Hannah said. I looked back to see my reflection. Wow, Hannah did fantastically. It seemed so natural. “Wow, thanks, Hannah. You did well,” I said. “Well, I always aspired to be a cosmologist, go to college and leave Embry. He needs me here.” Hannah said. “Hannah, you can still follow your dreams like I want to be a piano player. If you want something, go for it. Everything will work in the end.” “Okay, but what about you? You’re saying you want to become a piano player. Why aren’t you pursuing your desires? You’re getting ready to get married in a week and have a child soon. How are you going to do that?” “I don’t know. Focus on Jacob, the baby, and me, and later on, I will follow my dreams. For you, you still have the chants. You’re not even engaged to Embry yet or having a child. You should use this opportunity to do something for yourself.” “Alright, I will. Anyway, let’s get your hair done now.” We entered the bathroom, and she plugged in the blow dryer and switched it on. Next, she dried my hair using a blow dryer. Once she finished, we left the bathroom, and I stayed there for her to style my hair. She grabbed my hair and pondered her next move. “I’m going to do something simple. I’ll clip each side of your hair to the side and then curl the ends of your hair,” Hannah said. When she finished, I admired myself. I looked superb. “Thanks, Hannah,” I said. “You’re welcome. That’s what friends do,” Hannah said. Hannah hugged me, and I hugged her back. “I need to find shoes,” I said. “Oh, I almost forgot about that,” Hannah said. “Here.” Hannah removed the shoes from the bed and handed me beige suede platform heels. “Thanks,” I said. I put them on and glanced up at her. “Well, I had better head downstairs. Jacob is waiting for me,” I said. “Okay, I’ll do the same since Embry is waiting for me,” Hannah said. “Ah, huh? I bet he is. He can’t stand being away from you.” Hannah elbowed me in the shoulder, and I laughed. I didn’t see Jacob or Embry as we headed down the stairs. “Where are they?” Hannah asked. “They had to pack stuff real quick,” I responded. We headed into the kitchen and saw Quil, Seth, and Sophia making themselves something to eat. “Hey, guys,” I said. “Hey.... wo!” Quil said as he lifted his head to see me all dressed up. I laughed at his reaction. “You look nice, mom,” Sophia said. “Thanks, sweetie,” I said. “So, where is Jacob taking you again?” “To where our first date was.” “Aww, that’s so cute.” “Yeah, I guess so.” We heard footsteps, and when I looked back, I saw Embry and Jacob entering. Embry approached Hannah, enveloping her in his embrace and planting a gentle kiss on her neck. Jacob approached me and came to a sudden halt, his eyes wide with surprise. He looked at me, his eyes growing darker and changing shades. “You look amazing,” Jacob said. I blushed. “Thanks,” I said. “You don’t look bad yourself.” A sly smile appeared on Jacob’s face. I looked at what he wore: a red and white plaid shirt, dark blue jeans, and a leather jacket. Jacob came nearer to me and wrapped his arm around my shoulder. He then leaned down and whispered something in my ear. “Aren’t you going to need a sweater?” Jacob asked. “Oh yeah, I forgot,” I responded. I tried to head back to my bedroom, but Jacob pulled me back to his side. “It’s okay, you’ll be fine,” Jacob said. “Oh, okay,” I said. “Well, we won’t be back till tomorrow,” Jacob said. Everyone nodded. Jacob took hold of my hand, and together we went outside. Before reaching for his motorcycle, he halted and kissed me. Jacob placed his hands on my waist and drew me nearer while I placed my hand on his chest. Jacob intensified the kiss, and I placed my hands on his neck, embracing him. He caressed my back, sending delightful shivers down my spine. He then cut off the kiss and proceeded to my neck, placing kisses and sucking on it. “Jacob,” I said. “We...” A loud moan came out of my mouth. Jacob pulled away, smirked, and kissed my collarbone. “Jacob, we should go,” I said, laughing. “You smell so good,” Jacob said, inhaling my scent. I laughed again. “What do I smell like?” I asked. Jacob pulled back, gazing into my eyes. “Like you always do, but better,” Jacob responded. “Let me guess, strawberries and vanilla,” I said. Jacob gave the nod, and I burst into laughter. I leaned closer and kissed his lips, and he reciprocated. Once we shared a kiss, we hopped on the motorcycle and made our way to Second Beach. To be continued...
