"Good morning!" A voice that is already familiar to me awakens me from sleep." How did you sleep?"
I yawn and look at the guy who woke me up with a killing gaze.
"Fine, until you woke me up," I say.
Michael laughs. His mood today is clearly much better than yesterday.
" Excuse me, Your Majesty, I just wanted to let you know that breakfast is ready and my mom is inviting you to join" and then Mike takes a bow.
"I wonder why when your mother is calling me it is always you who comes?" - I laugh too.
To this he says nothing but looks at me with his branded smile. A minute later he says:
" -I'm going to eat breakfast. When you get ready, come to the kitchen, too." He thinks a little and adds with a smile, "I'll try to leave you some crumbs."
When he leaves, I get out of bed. I'm surprised when I find my hairbrush and clothes from home here. I decide that Michael probably took care of that.
Finally I get to the kitchen. I step into it shyly. I am met by Mick's smiling mother, and his father remains modest like yesterday.
"Good morning," I mumble shyly and sit beside Michael.
"Hi," replies his mother.- How did you sleep?
"Fine," I try to smile.
Fortunately, as a person, I don't have such a good sense of smell and now, at least I don't want to kill them. "I usually run around the city in the mornings to check if everything all right. Will you join me? It would be faster together" the guy speaks. "All right," I reply.
We start eating. I feel uncomfortable with people I hardly know. Like an intruder. I really have to be grateful to Michael and his mom for welcoming me so hospitably.
After about ten minutes of eating, we and Mike get up from the table.
"Let's go for a run? " smiles the guy.
"Oh yeah" I reply, and I also smile.
" Let's run together today, okay? And later, when you get used to it, we can run separately. It will be faster that way."
I nod my head. We get dressed and, after changing into wolves, run through the snow. There was a lot of new snow overnight. Our traces that we left yesterday are no longer visible.
It's feels good to run like this. The wind is gently patting the coat and the snowflakes are falling on my back. The only thing making me uncomfortable is that I see Michael looking at me restlessly. I'm guessing he's afraid I wouldn't run away from him again. But I won't make the same mistake again. I don't want to hurt him anymore.
We reach the forest. Our noses, like yesterday, scan the scents on the ground. We feel every smell. It is full of scents unfamiliar to me, but there is no sign of the one I am so afraid to find. That's how our morning run passes.
We turn towards home. Suddenly, a man emerges from behind the trees. I notice the camera in his hand. To the man's misfortune at that moment, the wind blows at us and brings his scent. Of course, this means nothing to Michael and he forgets that I am not completely in control and wants to leave as soon as possible. And just after hearing my horrible growl, he remembers.
"Oh God," I hear a the man murmurs and freeze.
Those simple words that slipped out of his mouth probably saves his life because when I hear it, I realize what I'm doing. I quickly suppress the growling and calm down. I see Mick looking at me rather confused, but he quickly becomes fascinated with my self-control.
Then I remember the man again. He pulls out the camera and takes a picture of us. At least he could ask for permission ... With Michael, we turn around and run away.
When we get home, we change to our human forms.
“Isn't it bad that he took a picture of us?” I ask.
"I think it's not," replies Michael. "He probably thought we were just ordinary wolves"
"I think I should go home," I say.
" If you want, fine. I am convinced that if you control yourself with a stranger in the form of a wolf, then being a human you will not endanger your parents"
"That's what I'm going to do then. By the way, how did my hairbrush and clothes get here?" - I remembered.
" Well, while you were sleeping, I went and took them out of your house, and then completed the reconnaissance alone. I hope you are not angry about that. You just slept so sweet, I didn't want to wake you up."
" Not a little angry. Actualy I am grateful to you. Thank you." I smiled.
" You're welcome."
"Good bye"
"Bye. See you tonight. We will do intelligence again", he smiles.
I'm leaving. I pull the trail towards my home. I wonder what will happen when the holidays are over. Then I won't be able to turn into a wolf whenever I want to run. I wonder how Michael manages to combine intelligence with the school. But he's apparently used to it.
I come to my house thinking. I unlock the door. Of course, there is nothing in the house because the parents are at work. I saw that the window through which Mike had jumped was covered with a film. When I remembered it, I wondered what the guy told me yesterday. The incident when I attacked my parents seemed to him very similar to what had happened to Gabriel before. Only this time he was not too late.
I decide to get my backpack ready. Three days from now I will need to go back to school. That's when I'll find out how to manage being a werewolf with going to school. I saw that Michael is really happy that the two of us will turn around much faster. Apparently he was fed up every morning and evening alone to guard the entire city.
When I have my backpack ready, I remember that I have no idea how long I had abandoned my cellphone. I check it out. Received some text messages from classmates, but nothing important. They all say, "What are you doing? How are you doing? How is your vacation going? "
I decide to write back later. Too lazy now. I'd rather lie on the couch with the book in my hands. This is one of my favorite activities during the holidays.
Someone knocks on the door. I look out the window. An unfamiliar guy stands outside the door. Somehow, when I see him, I have a bad feeling about him. I decide not to open the door. Unfortunately, the guy shows up stubbornly and he doesn't give up easily. Finally, he speaks:
"I know perfectly well that you are at home, Diana, and I know that you are Michael's werewolf friend. You better open the door, because that film on your window won't really protect you. I'm guessing broken glass Mike's work, am I wrong?"
How does he know who I am? And how does he know everything else? Suddenly one thought strikes me. If he knows Michael so much, it seems to me he can only be one person. Gabriel.
Now I'm really sorry for not asking for Mike's number. I quickly run to the bathroom and change into a wolf there. Unfortunately, by that time the guy had already got into the house.
"Easy, girl," he says clearly, without fear, "I just want to talk. You do not even realize what opportunities you would have if you join us. I'm sure Mike told you nothing. By the way, it would be much easier to talk if you were human, but if you fell safer this way ... Let it be."
I growl angrily. I'm not going to talk to him.
"Come on, calm down. Look at yourself. What you look like right now - growling like devil, drooling in your saliva, eyes burning in some anger. I'm really curious about what you hate me for when you not even know me? Isn't this the good boy Mick telling you something?"
I still look at him menacingly. I don't have any saliva on me. What is he talking about here ... I decide it is best to flee. It is unclear what could happen if I stay. Maybe there was a whole gang outside like him?
I jump out of the window. Gabriel had removed the film from it already.
" Run away from me to Michael? Don't hurry."
I run at full speed, but as I expected, I hear the steps behind me. Obviously, he's chasing me. What more to expect? But when I look back, I stop by surprise. The wolf is completely black and doesn't look like those other werewolves. The physique of the evil werewolves, as I mentioned above, resembles those of horror films. Longer hind limbs, slightly shorter muzzle. Meanwhile, me, Michael, and as now turns out Gabriel too, we are exactly the same as real wolves, only bigger. But according to Mike's stories, when you contribute to those werewolves, you should become like them. Unless he meant not the looks ...
Looks like the black wolf is glad I stopped. After a couple more jumps and he'll come up to me ... After realizing it, I start again at full speed as far as my feet carry. I know that my efforts are in vain. He's bigger than me and clearly faster. Out of despair I howl. Maybe Michael will hear and come to help me?
Gabriel seems to be angry about this. In addition, I notice anxiety in his eyes. Surprisingly, however, the Black Wolf begins to look not at the side of Mike's house, but at the forest. Maybe Michael really told me not everything or just didn't know everything?
Anyway, the gray wolf is running fleeing here. When he sees a black wolf, he freezes. Questioningly looks at me. I suddenly jump up to him and stand beside him. When the black wolf sees that he would not be able to catch me he walks slowly towards us. Does that look to me or is he still looking fearfully into the forest? Maybe this is just a maneuver to deceive us?
His hair on the ridge rises. I see how difficult it is for him to growl at a guy who used to be his friend. There was pain in his eyes. Gabriel lowers his head and looks at his apologetic gaze. Most likely he is just acting. I don't believe in him, but Mike seems confident. He turns quietly and rushes home. I'm with him. The Black Wolf follows us.
