Birthdays :Chapter 9

MARKS POV

I smiled as my brothers, and I went to Elizabeth's house the next day. I helped Jacob with the decorations. Elizabeth and Sarah were still asleep. Justin was out getting the cake that Alpha Fang ordered last week. Celestia and Zeke were out handing out the invites and then would go looking for a birthday gift from all of us. My brothers and I had agreed to go shopping for a gift for her once we were done helping out.

I looked over as Jacob looked at me. I smiled nervously. He returned to doing the decorations, and I returned to doing mine. I didn't want to be with him by myself. I thought back to how I got stuck on decoration duty with Jacob.

FLASHBACK

I looked at Justin and Zeke as we discussed who would work on decorations with Jacob. I looked as our sister Erica held three straws. She found it weird that we were doing this.

Erica: "This is stupid."

Zeke: "ok, you two, let's pull straws, shall we."

Me: "This is stupid, man."

Justin: "are you afraid you'll lose."

Me: "no, I'm not."

Zeke: "good."

We had all pulled straws. I got the shortest, meaning I had to be stuck with decorations and Jacob. I looked at our sister Erica as she smiled.

PRESENT

I finished hanging the decorations, then stepped back and looked at them decorations. I looked over as Jacob cleared his throat and then looked at me.

Jacob: "so you and my sister, huh?"

Me: "yea, she's my mate as well as Justin's and Zekes."

Jacob: "and where's Alester."

Me: "um, that's complicated."

Jacob: "how so."

Me: "um, he's... engaged to the demon princess Ashley."

I looked towards Jacob nervously. I looked and saw how red his eyes were. He shook his head and calmed down. I heard my wolf Rex in my head.

Rex: "he's pissed."

Me: "no kidding; you don't think he'll hurt Alester, right."

Rex: "Oh, for sure."

I sighed, looking at Jacob. His eyes turned back to normal, and he shook his head. He smiled and then went to the kitchen. He seemed a bit too calm for me, and being an older brother meant he would kill him the next time he saw him.

Once we finished everything, I left to go shopping for Elizabeth and grab our instruments since Celestia hired us as entertainment. Jacob was in his room tending to a wolf pup that Celestia found at the market that would be from all of us.

ELIZABETHS POV

I woke up and looked around. I saw I was in my room. I looked to the left and saw Sarah sleeping on the opposite side of the bed. I had a king-sized bed, so we had enough room to sleep in it. I smiled and got up. I looked through my closet and smiled, searching for an outfit for today's party.

I smiled and pulled out a red corset and a black high-waisted, high-low corset skirt. I smiled, looking, and found some red strappy heels. I set them on the couch that I had by the window. I smiled and looked at Sarah to sit up. She looked at the outfit I chose and then smiled.

Sarah: "you are the only girl I know who can pull off the gothic look and make it look like everyday attire Elizabeth. or rock it as you do."

Me: "thank you. Oh, I also have your outfit chosen out."

Sarah: "is it bright?"

Me: "yes, yes, it is."

Sarah: "can I see it."

I smiled and pulled out the gold high-low dress with black heels and a tiara. Sarah smiled, looking at it, as her eyes turned a bright purple. She hugged me tight and smiled. She grabbed one of my simple tiars and set it down by my outfit. We smiled as we looked at our outfits. I made sure that Sarah would shine bright at tonight's party.

I smiled as we got dressed. Sarah had helped me with my corset top. I smiled and helped Sarah with her dress and heels. I stood up and smiled at Sarah. I curl her hair and then put the tiara on her head. I smiled, putting on the simple tiar that was with my outfit. We went downstairs and smiled, sitting at the table. Mom walked over and kissed my head, then hugged Sarah.

Mom: "Happy Birthday Sarah"

Sarah: "Thank you, Luna Nadia."

Mom: "Please, you know you can call me Nadia."

Dad: "Are you girls excited about the party today."

Me: "I am. Are you Sarah?"

Sarah: "I'm so excited. I heard Tia hired the disbanded boy group to perform some covers at the party."

Me: "really?"

Sarah and I smiled, looking at Celestia. Jacob had come inside the house, kissed my head, and hugged Sarah. We smiled, looking as Jacob grabbed a muffin. We smiled as we ate and talked about today's party. I smiled as we finished dinner. I smiled, heard the door, then went to answer it. I smiled, opened it, then looked at the guys. They smiled, looking at me. I stepped aside and let them in. the guys went and walked to the kitchen. I smiled, closed the door, then walked back to the kitchen. I smiled and laughed as Zeke grabbed me by the Waist, then Wrapped his arms around me before laying his head on my shoulder.

Zeke: "you look so beautiful."

Mark: "yea, she does."

Justin: "that outfit looks amazing on you."

Sarah: "I told you."

Me: "Thanks, guys."

Zeke: "of course, Sarah, you also look pretty."

Sarah: "don't fawn over me. Besides, I'm fine if the compliments go to your mate."

Justin: "Also, happy birthday, Sarah."

Mark: "happy birthday, S."

Zeke: "welcome to the world of 18."

Sarah: "Thanks, boys."

We all got the things ready for the party. We baked for hours until party time rolled around. I smiled as Sarah, and I set the table. My parents had dropped off their gifts at the gift table. We were using the big ballroom in the house by the garden. It was right by the kitchen, so it was fine. The guest started showing up at about 8 pm. Sarah welcomed the guest and smiled at everyone. The gift table had two huge piles of gifts for Sarah and me. I smiled and ran over to Justin when I saw him hanging with Max. Sarah was trailing right behind me.

Me: "Hey, Max"

Max: "hey, liza, it's been a bit since I saw you."

Me: "yea, it has."

I smiled, looking as Sarah froze, looking at max. Max froze when talking to me, then turned and looked at Sarah. He smiled brightly. I smiled and laid my head on Justin's shoulder when his mind linked with me.

Justin: "that's how I looked when I found out you were my mate."

Me: "really?"

Justin: "yes."

I smiled and kissed Justin sweetly. He held onto my Waist and kissed me back sweetly. I pulled away and smiled, looking at him. I smiled as I saw Zeke walk over wearing a black leather jacket with ripped jeans and a red shirt. Zeke kissed my cheek and then looked at Justin. Justin nodded, then kissed my cheek and left with Zeke.

Sarah: "wanna hang with Max and me?"

Me: "Nah, you go have fun with your mate, and I'm gonna go find my siblings."

Max: "you sure."

Me: "of course, I am yall go have fun."

I smiled as Max and Sarah went to the snack table. I went around and found Celestia talking to Jacob. Jacob looked and smiled at me. Celestia smiled as she turned to me and then moved a strand of hair from in front of my face.

Celestia: "you did amazing on the snacks and stuff."

Me: "thank you."

Jacob: "where are your mates? They always make sure at least one of them is around you."

Me: "They are around here doing something. I don't know what."

I smiled as I talked with my siblings. We talked about the party the guys were having next week on Saturday.

ALESTERS POV

I looked around the party as I stayed in the back. Max had made me come saying the least I could do after hurting Elizabeth was be at her and Sarah's Birthday Party. Of course, I brought Ashley with me since she was my fiance. She was ok, but she wasn't Elizabeth. I had been avoiding her since I learned I was Engaged to Ashley.

I looked around the room and spotted Elizabeth in a gothic-like outfit with a small, simple tiara. She looked beautiful. Even the darkest clothes could never dull her. she always shined bright. I wasn't ready to face her brother. I knew Jacob would kill me the moment he saw me. I looked as Ashley walked over and put her arms around my neck. I mentally rolled my eyes before smiling lovingly at her as I wrapped my arms around the Waist.

Ashley: "baby, you look distracted. What's wrong?"

Me: "nothing, love. I was taking in the scenery. This party is very active."

Ashley: "come dance with me and walk around and talk to people."

I sighed as Ashley approached a girl in a gold dress with a tiara. She looked familiar, but I didn't know how. Max smiled and nodded at me. He held onto the girl like he was protecting her, so if I guess right, I take it he found his mate.

Max: "hey, alester, this is Sarah, my mate."

Me: "it's very nice to meet yall."

Sarah: "I'm glad yall decided to join us."

Ashley: "well, it'll be rude not to show up after receiving an invite."

Max: "yep."

I looked as max stared at Sarah. He must be mind-linking her. She smiled at Ashley and me. She kissed Max's cheek and then ran into the crowd as if searching for something or someone.

Max: "she's going off to find Elizabeth."

Me: "what for?"

Max: "Let her know that the band is about to play. The triplets are going to perform for her party."

Me: "I didn't know they were performing."

Max: "it was a last-minute book made by Celestia."

Ashley: "baby, weren't you in a band once? Why not you go up there and perform?"

Me: "no thanks."

I smiled at Ashley. Max shook his head as his mind linked me, then scanned the crowd making sure he could see Sarah. He smiled every time he looked at her. I smiled as Ashley left to go to the snack table.

Max: "what the f**k, man."

Me: "what?"

Max: "Are you still following along with that deal? What about Elizabeth"

Me: "I don't care about Elizabeth. f**k her"

Max looked at me in shock. It hurt me to say that, but if Elizabeth could read my mind when she was around, I couldn't risk it. I missed Elizabeth, and Coal nor Alfred had spoken since Elizabeth woke up; then I went home. I looked as max left to find Sarah.

ELIZABETHS POV

I smiled, looking as Sarah ran over to me. We looked at the makeshift stage my sister and brother had set up. I looked and smiled as I saw Mark, Justin, and Zeke up on the scene. They smiled at me before they started to play

I looked at the guys as they sang happy birthday. Sarah smiled and requested them to sing her favorite song, mad at Disney. I smiled and looked at Sarah as she sang the lyrics. I smiled and went over to the snack bar. I froze upon seeing Ashley. I growled, then walked away. I went above the stage and looked at the guys as they sat on the edge, smiling. Zeke kissed my cheek. Justin pulled me up and set me beside him in Mark's lap.

I smiled, talking with the guys. We smiled, talking about what we would do about the dance. I told the guys I would sing a few songs with them, but that was it. We also talked about the dance and what we would wear. I jumped up as I heard growling and a bang. Mark held onto me as Zeke and Justin got up and surveyed the room.

Mark let me go, and we walked to where the crowd was. I shoved my way to the front and saw Jacob growling as he had Alester pinned to the ground. I froze, looking. Zeke and the guys made their way beside me. I looked as Ashley was screaming as Mat held her back, so she didn't get involved. I just stood as I listened to the conversation. Ray had stood near the table watching.

ALESTERS POV

I looked as if I was pined by Jacob. I did not want to bump into him, not yet, anyway.

Jacob: "what the f**k are you doing here, Knight."

Me: "I'm enjoying the party. What else would I be doing here."

Jacob: "I mean, at the party. You're brave to show your face after showing up with someone who's not my sister."

I growled, kicked Jacob off me, and sent him flying back. I shifted into my black wolf, and he did the same. The only thing that could tell us apart was our eyes and Jacob being slightly more prominent. I charged at Jacob, and he dodged. I reached down and bit on his hind leg breaking it. He whimpered softly before he picked me up and threw me. Jacob clawed into my side. I bit a chunk out of his side. He couldn't stand a chance when I used my vampire strength and speed in wolf form. I looked up when I heard a scream after I bit down on Jacob's neck. I let go before I snapped anything.

Elizabeth: "JACOB!!!"

Mark: "shit."

Justin: "Zeke, hold her back."

I watched Elizabeth as she cried, trying to get out of Zeke's grip. I looked as Jacob tried to get up. He fell back to the ground, and Celestia ran over to him. I looked as Ashley ran over to me as she was let go. I looked at max as Sarah hid behind him. I walked off with Ashley on my back as I left the party. I had made it home and turned human. I put on some sweatpants that were hidden in hollowed-out trees. Mom ran over to me; looking panicked, I reassured her, then went to my room with Ashley behind me.

ELIZABETHS POV

I looked as Celestia tended to jacobs wounds with Ray. Jacob had managed to shift back to normal. I kept trying to get out of Zeke's arms to get to my brother. I looked as Celestia looked at ray, then me.

Me: "is he?"

Celestia: "his heartbeat is very faint. Alester left marks on his throat."

Ray: "he used his abilities. It's the only reason he was able to overpower Jacob."

Me: "will he be ok, Ray."

Ray: "we don't know. Only time will tell."

I choked on my breath as if I had forgotten how to breathe. I collapsed in Zeke's arms. Zeke had caught me and then held me. I looked at my brother as he was slowly breathing. Justin, Mark, and Max began to clear out the party. I looked as Mat appeared with a man my parents had come in the right after him. the man wrapped up Jacob and then slowly picked him up. I watched as they carried Jacob away to the infirmary.

Max: "everyone is gone now."

Sarah: "Elizabeth?"

Mark: "she's not gonna answer, Sarah."

Justin: "he was so stupid. What the f**k"

Zeke: "I can't believe he did that. He was going to kill him if she didn't scream."

I looked at them as they talked, but I wasn't paying attention. It's like I wasn't even there. I looked as ray walked back into the ballroom. He looked at me, then sighed softly. He knew I wasn't fully here.

Ray: "get her to her room, and yall stay with her, ok?"

Zeke: "got it, man."

Justin: "what are you gonna do?"

Ray: "I'm gonna go talk to my mom."

ZEKES POV

I sighed as I picked up Elizabeth's bridal style and then took her upstairs to her room. Sarah looked at her best friend as she lay in my arms. I could feel so much pain and sadness from her. It hurt me, and I knew it was pulling the guys. If one of us marked her, we would feel it one hundred times worse.

Sarah opened Elizabeth's door. I walked in and then laid her on her bed. When I looked at her face, she had tears streaming down, yet her face just looked blank and emotionless. Mark and Justin looked, then wiped her eyes. She grabbed a giant wolf plush and cuddled up to it, burying her face in it.

I looked as she cuddled the bear. Sarah sat by her and stroked her hair. Justin sat on the other side. Max put his hand on Sarah's shoulder and then kissed his cheek.

Sarah: "Jacob got this for her five years ago when she was thirteen. She had always wanted a pet that would be by her side at all times, so he gave her the plushie."

Justin: "I hope he pulls through this."

Mark: "first, she has to deal with a mate that chose a random girl over her."

Max: "And now he's almost killed her brother."

Elizabeth: "he won't die... right."

I looked down at Elizabeth as she looked at me. Her eyes seemed so dull, as if she had no soul. I kissed her sweetly, then caressed her cheek. Mark rubbed her shoulder as Justin stroked her thigh. She looked at everyone, then Sarah, and back at me.

Me: "we will do everything we can to keep him alive, my love. Now get some sleep. We'll be here when you wake up.

Sarah: "yup, and then you can go see Jacob."

Elizabeth: "yall promise?"

Justin: "we promise, shortcake."

Mark: "you have every right to hit us if we aren't."

Max: "he means to hit them."

Sarah: "Max"

Max: "fine, me too."

I smiled, looking at everyone, then at Elizabeth as she fell asleep. I smiled and looked as Sarah and Max cuddled up on the oversized couch by the window. Justin lay by Elizabeth and hugged her from behind while mark fell asleep, leaning on the wall as he sat in the bed by her legs. I smiled and pulled a chair up, and laid my head by her on the other side. It was about one in the morning when everyone went to sleep.
