The Lost One

Chapter 7

Alexi's Pov:

Seeing my mate in pain is not something I ever want to witness again and I know my twin will agree with me. When Vanessa grabbed her head and hissed we  raced over to her. When she passed out we panicked even more. We didn't know what was wrong with our beautiful mate and we didn't know how to help her. Akela called the mansion to have a doctor be ready to jump into action the moment we got there. Dimitri picked her up and we raced to Akela's car. The moment Akela and I were in the car the driver speed off the tarmac and we were heading to the mansion. " Is she breathing brother?" I ask him worried what it would mean if she wasn't. Dimitri put a finger under her nose and nodded at me and I released a shaky breath and nodded back to him. I tried to get as close to them as possible and I grabbed a hold of Vanessa's hand while Akela was barking orders into his phone. 

I look at my brother and saw the fear in his eyes, he was worried for our mate. We just found her and we might lose her, we don't even know what's wrong with her and there's nothing we can do to stop it. "Dimitri." He snaps his head up to meet my gaze, " Everything is going to be ok. We'll help her and then she'll be trying to escape from us again in no time." He chuckles a little at my comment and goes back to focusing on Vanessa. It felt like eternity waiting for the car to reach the mansion when in reality it was only a 20 minute drive from the airport but with the driver going as fast as possible its the drive was half that time. 

When we felt the car stop Dimitri rushed out the car and up the steps. Akela and I raced after him and followed him to our quarters where the coven's doctor was waiting for our arrival. Dimitri placed Vanessa on the bed gently and stepped away from the bed, I could see that it pained him to do so but he knew the doctor needed to attend to her. Akela waited outside the door guarding it and stopping anyone from coming in. I'm sure the coven all will be asking question's about why we came barging into the mansion, especially with an unconscious woman in Dimitri's arm. Ashley will be very persistent, she won't be happy that her mate is keeping a secret from her.

Me and Dimitri watched as the doctor checked Vanessa's vitals and trying to find the reason behind her passing out and pain. Our doctor wasn't a vampire he was a Warlock which was a oddity in the vampire world.  Usually only vampires are allowed in a coven, but when Akela's father took over things changed. He wanted to make things fair and just in the coven. He wanted the coven to be a place that anyone, no matter their species could come and seek sanctuary. The doc's name was Jamie and he came to us a couple years ago when he was framed from murder of another warlock. We helped him clear his name and he's stayed with us ever since.

I was watching his face for any sign that something was extremely wrong. He was currently frowning and looked confused, I'm not sure if that's a good or bad sign. He stepped away from the bed and raised both his arms and held his hands over Vanessa and started mumbling in Latin. His hands gave this slight green glow and he moved them from her feet to her head. When he stopped he still stared at her confused, me and Dimitri were getting impatient wanting to know what was wrong.  " Well what's wrong with her Jamie?" I barked at him. He looked at him and shook his head and shrugged, " She's fine physically. I think she had a memory wipe before she woke up when she was first changed. I'm not sure I can get her memories fully back and it would be incredibly painful. What were you guys talking about when she passed out?"

Me and Dimitri shared a look with each other, " Akela told her that Ashley was her daughter. Would that have trigged something?" Jamie rubbed his chin and had a thoughtful look on his face. " Yes. It would have trigged the spell and caused it to react negatively. Anything mentioned or reviled about her past could trigger a reaction like this until we get counter the spell." Dimitri groaned and rubbed his hand down his face and glared at Jamie. " Then f*****g get rid of it."

Jamie shook his head, " It doesn't work like that. I can't just say a magic word and it gets rid of it. I have to figure out what spell was used and would then find the counter spell. If I get it wrong I could kill her. Until then you guys need to get her out of here, its filled with reminders of her past. I'm surprised she lasted as long as she did with her running around town. She will keep getting headaches, but that's her body trying to combat the spell by itself. It should take me only a couple days until I find the counter spell." 

Jamie walked out of the room and when he left Akela came into the room. He looked at Vanessa on the bed and then back to us. " What did he find?" I stayed silent staring at Vanessa while Dimitri explained what Jamie told us to him. I glanced up at him when the explanation was over,  he asked, " What do you want to do? I can't keep Ashley from finding out, I'm going to have to tell my mate. Once she knows she will want to see her. So will her brother." I nodded knowing it was true, Ashley would stop at nothing to see Vanessa. She missed her mother greatly.. but she isn't Violet anymore. She's a completely different person, she will be very disappointed.

" Hold off on telling her until the spell is countered. Anything from the past will not threaten her anymore but I'm not sure if she will have her memories back. Ashley might not be happy with who she finds in her mothers body." Akela looks back at Vanessa and nods his head, " I agree. I suggest you guys head to one of our safehouses until Jamie finds that spell. Consider it a vacation and an excuse to get to know your mate." With that he turned and left the room leaving me and my brother alone with a sleeping Vanessa. 

Dimitri gets up to get closer to our mate and kneels next to the bed, he shoves some hair from her face and grabs her hand. He turns to me and says, " What about the house in Russia? I know we haven't been back since everything happened but maybe the its time now that we have our mate." I run this idea through my head coming up with the pros and cons. We still have some enemies in Russia but it would be good to go to our homeland. It would be nice to show Vanessa where me and Dimitri come from and to show her our past. 

I nod my head agreeing with my twin, " Yes we shall return to Mother Russia." My brother nods his head at me and I start arranging the jet for our flight there and for the safehouse to be prepared for our arrival. Another hour passes by before Vanessa finally starts to stir and me and Dimitri's attentions are solely on her. Her eyes finally open and she looks around the room with a frown on her face, she starts to get up and her gaze zones in on us. " Where am I?" before I could answer Dimitri says, " You are at the mansion in our quarters. You passed out on the plane and we brought you here to have our doctor look you over." 

She nodded her head in response before asking, " So what's the verdict? What's wrong with me? I mean I've been getting headaches since I woke but never that intense before." She glance between the two of us waiting for our answer. This time I am the one to give it, " Jamie said you were spelled before you woke. The headaches are a product of your body naturally fighting the spell. This time Akela revealing what he did on the plane trigged the spell and it reacted negatively causing you pain and to pass out. He is currently working on a counter spell to get rid of it but has suggested we take you away from the mansion until he does so we don't cause any more reactions." 

She stayed quiet as she processed the new information, she then asked, " Are we going back to my home then?" I shook my head and said, " No we are going to one of our safehouses. " She shook her head and seemed annoyed, "Dam." Me and Dimitri just chuckled at her response. " You can't get away from us that easily my mate. " She just shook her head.
