Stronger Together

"Where is she taking her!" demanded Kevin, angrily.

Seth turned his head to Kevin and Chelsea. He looked calm and peaceful.

"Calm down, my child. She will not hurt Jasmine," Seth said, softly.

"What's going on? Why did she take Jassy?" asked Chelsea.

She didn't know what was going on. She was so confused about why these monsters had anything to do with regular kids like them. Seth looked at her with care.

"Come, sit down. I will explain everything to you,” he said, gently.

Chelsea looked nervously at Kevin. Kevin gave her a sympathetic look and held out his hand. He nodded to her that everything was going to be alright. She hesitated and then took his hand. They walked over to Seth and sat by his elbow.

"A very long time ago, before humans ever came to this land, we ran happy and free. There were hundreds like Melina soaring through the sky and hundreds like myself that roamed the land. I am what my species is supposed to look like, but that was before we tasted human blood. Everything was perfect until Melina and I fell in love. Once our love had reached every species on the land, we all became divided. A terrible war had broken out. Some werewolves escaped, most stayed and fought against the other species. Melina and I were ripped away from each other. We stayed divided for centuries, until Melina and I had enough, and found each other. Our love did stop the war. However, my great-grandfather escaped and made his own family, and Melina's great-grandmother did the same. Now the war has been going on ever since. Throughout the years, the species that were eventually mated together, making their own species of offspring. They were a mad species. The creature the werewolves call Leonard, is the last of their offspring. He was a man that had come here and captured a few of the vile creatures. He tried to genetically make more by using their blood to make a serum to use on humans. That monster did not know that using the serum on Jasmine's mother, that he was recreating our original species. Jasmine is a blessing in disguise, she is the purest form of Melina's kind. You have the gene too. Now he has created another species. The werewolves he created are shape shifters. They can be human or a wolf, just not both like the others. The ones that can fully transform are my species at its rawest form. Leonard is a human, but when he injected himself with his serum, he became a half-breed of my kind. One of the boys from our original species is the key and so is Jasmine. I hope they find each other soon. Jasmine and the werewolf child will have a love like no other being has felt before. Once they are together, you can feel it in the air. It will radiate around you like magic,” explained Seth.

Chelsea shivered and Kevin looked at her oddly.

"It sounds like when Joey and Jassy are together,” she said.

"Joseph?" asked Seth, and Kevin looked up at Seth.

"Yes, he was her boyfriend until he mysteriously disappeared,” said Kevin, sadly, and Seth looked at him.

"This love will always find a way to stay together."

Kevin and Chelsea listened to Seth talk more about the past as they waited for Jasmine and Melina to return. Chelsea now knew that her friends were special, and she was happy to have them as friends.

Melina swooped into a high cave in the mountain and landed. She set Jasmine down gently and sat back on her hind legs. Jasmine dusted herself off and looked around the cave. It was cold and clammy to her skin. Toward the back of the cave, she saw a glowing pool of water, and Jasmine looked back up at Melina.

"What is this place? Why did you bring me here?" Jasmine asked, curiously, and Melina looked down at her.

"Jasmine, we don't have much time. Please close your eyes and listen to the voices in the wind,” said Melina, as she glanced up at the sky.

Reluctantly, Jasmine nodded, took a deep breath, and closed her eyes. She cleared her mind and listened. Melina swooped to the back of the cave and scooped up some glowing water into her mouth. Jasmine sat down in Indian style and Melina flew back to her. She opened her mouth and let the water fall gently on Jasmine.

Suddenly, Jasmine felt herself slip away from reality. Memories flashed in her mind of Seth and Melina falling in love, and then the memory changed. She saw war, terrible war, swirl around her and a silhouette of someone behind her. Jasmine sucked in a breath as she saw how much she was in love with this mysterious being. She had that once, but it was ripped away from her. She watched as the war faded away and the sun began to shine. However, she still couldn't tell who the person with her was.

Jasmine felt a surge of energy that she was familiar with. Jasmine opened her eyes and blinked a few times. Melina and the cave came into focus.

"You see child, you and another are the key to ending all this war!" said Melina, gently, and Jasmine swallowed hard.

She watched Melina as she raised up on her hind legs and carefully pulled a scale from her chest. She handed it to Jasmine, and she looked at the scale she held in her palm. It glistened blue and green in the sunlight. Jasmine watched as the scale sunk into her palm and disappeared. Jasmine looked up at Melina.

"It will guide and protect you,” said Melina, as she bowed.

Jasmine wasn't sure what was going to happen, but she bowed back. She watched as Melina made her way to the open mouth of the cave and stepped onto the ledge. Melina looked back at her.

"Come fly with me, child,” she said.

Jasmine swallowed hard as she made her way to the cave's edge. She was unsure if she could keep up with the large beast.

Suddenly, Jasmine felt the sunlight on her skin and all her worries were washed away. She watched as Melina took the sky and looked back at Jasmine. Jasmine began to levitate, and she shot herself into the sky towards Melina.

They flew through the clouds gracefully. The wind whipped through Jasmine's hair as she laughed. She felt free and more alive than she had felt in her entire life. Melina dipped down underneath the clouds and flew faster. Jasmine followed her. Jasmine laughed as she spun in a circle. Melina made a happy sounding noise from her throat. Jasmine looked ahead and her eyes went wide. They were flying towards a large rocky cliff. It looked like there was an opening in the middle. Jasmine realized that Melina was flying straight toward the cliff.

"Melina!" Jasmine cried.

Without missing a beat, Melina grabbed Jasmine and pulled her close to her body. Jasmine squeezed her eyes tightly shut and yelled. Melina wrapped her wings around both of them and shot through the opening. Jasmine felt the sun on her face again and opened her eyes. They were through the opening of the dangerous looking cliff. Melina let go of Jasmine, and she looked back at the cliff. Jasmine yelled in excitement.

"Yeah!"

Melina cawed to the sky in the same excited tone. Jasmine smiled as she soared with the magnificent creature. Jasmine looked down at the mountain and saw Seth, Kevin and Chelsea watching them. Melina looked at Jasmine, and they turned toward the mountain. Melina and Jasmine swooped down and landed next to Seth.

"Wow!" said Chelsea, as she stared at Jasmine.

Her best friend could fly. Kevin ran up to Jasmine and hugged her tight.

"I'm so glad you are safe!" he said.

Jasmine nodded and hugged him back. Kevin pulled back and looked at her.

"Do you know about the war?" he asked, as he searched her eyes, and Jasmine nodded.

"Yes,” she said, and turned to Melina and Seth.

Kevin was reluctant to let her go, but he did.

"Seth, Melina, what do we have to do?" asked Jasmine.

All of a sudden, the earth shook, knocking the kids to the ground.

"What's going on?" asked Kevin, as he jumped to his feet.

Jasmine and Chelsea did the same. Seth and Melina looked up at the sky. Jasmine did the same, but she didn't see anything at first. However, not a second later, a bright blue lightning bolt shot across the sky. Seth looked at Melina and snarled.

"We have to go now!" he said with such seriousness that Jasmine and Kevin felt.

"Wait!" called Jasmine, as she looked at Melina.

"You will know what to do when the time comes,” she said, as she looked at Jasmine.

"Good luck little ones,” said Seth.

Another earthquake shook the ground beneath them, knocking them to the ground again. Jasmine, Kevin and Chelsea watched as Seth disappeared in between the two huts he had come from. He curled his body in a circle and completely turned to stone.

"Remember you are stronger together. Find him, Jasmine,” said Melina.

Jasmine looked up at her. Melina expanded her large wings and morphed into a mist that danced in the air before their eyes. The mist then disappeared. Kevin and Chelsea looked at each other, and then at Jasmine. Jasmine thought for a moment as they all got to their feet and brushed themselves off. Another quake hit harder this time and there was another bolt of lightning that lit up the sky.

"Time to go home." said Jasmine, as she picked up her pack.

She headed for the doorway that led up the dark stairwell and out to the waterfall. Kevin and Chelsea grabbed their packs and ran after her. The wind had started to pick up as they walked through the doorway.

"Our parents are not going to be happy we lied to them, but we have to tell them the truth,” said Jasmine, as she looked at Kevin.

They were halfway up the staircase. Kevin looked at Chelsea.

"You might want to go home and get your parents to safety. Away from Glee and the city. This could get hideous,” he said.

Chelsea looked at him and nodded. Jasmine could tell she was scared.

"But first, do you want to have a little fun going home?" asked Jasmine, and Kevin and Chelsea looked at her in question.

"What do you mean?" they said in unison and laughed.

Jasmine smiled and began to levitate.

"Oh," Kevin said, and began to levitate too.

Chelsea looked at them both.

"I can't do that,” she said.

Jasmine and Kevin each grabbed one of her arms and she rose up with them. Chelsea was amazed and felt weightless. They flew home in half the time it took to get there and landed on the loading dock in Glee.

"Okay, after all this is over, we have got to do that again!" Chelsea said, happily.

Jasmine and Kevin looked at each other. They feared that this war might not be over soon. Chelsea got in her car and Jasmine and Kevin got in Kevin's car and drove home. When they got home, they came clean to their parents and told them about their experiences and about the war that was about to start.
