A light In Her Darkness

Chapter Twelve - Making her feel better

 Dylan’s P.O.V

I lay next to her, keeping myself awake in case she had a nightmare again. At least if she did, I would be right here. I sighed as I looked at her, she was so beautiful, and I hated seeing her sad. I looked down her arms caught my eye. I felt my heartbreak when I see the fresh cuts on her arms; there was at least five of them. I should never have gone away and left her. I should have taken her with me cause when I was here, she was doing OK to an extent. I gently reached down, trying my best not wake her and kissed over her cuts softly, wishing I could take them away, take her pain away from her. I knew that was not possible, but I know all I can do is be here for her through the good and the bad. She was so vulnerable, and that worried me. I think I may see if I can get her and my sister together, she will be more at ease talking to someone who understood and had been through it.

I lay back down, wrapping my arm tightly around her. Ava snuggled into my chest, clinging to me but never woke. I reached in stroking her hair, deciding to try to get a little sleep myself. I was a light sleeper, so if she woke, I would hear. I finally found myself drifting off, eventually falling asleep.

I was not sure how long I was sleeping for, but I got woke with a pair of soft, warm lips on my neck. I moaned, hearing Ava giggle. I slowly opened my eyes, looking at her.

“I see you are awake?” I laughed.

“Yes, I woke up about ten minutes ago.” She smiled.

“Why did you not wake me?” I asked, rubbing my eyes tiredly.

“Cause you looked cute and comfortable.” She giggled.

“Cute uh?” I said smirking.

She nodded, rolling over and climbing on top of me, sitting on my stomach and straddling me.

“Very cute.” She winked giggling.

I reached in, placing my hands on her hip.

“How are you feeling?” I asked.

“A little better, not as tired. Thank you for staying with me as you promised.” She said sweetly.

I reached in, gently stroking her arms. I watched as she closes her eyes over, letting out a small content sigh.

“I told you, baby, I am here for you. I got you.” I smiled.

She slowly opened her eyes, nodding and smiling at me before she reached down, softly pressing her lips against mine. I smiled into the kiss, placing my hands on her back and holding her against me, kissing her back the same way. Once we pulled apart, I held her against my chest, keeping my arms around her. She nuzzled my neck with her face, my turn to close my eyes and let out a content sigh. It was moments like that with her that made me smile, that made me fall that little harder for her. They were sensual and intimate. I could lay here with her like this for hours. I kissed the top of her head.

“As much as I could lay here all day with you, you need to eat, baby and then we can do whatever you want. If you want to stay in bed snuggling all day, we can do that. You wanna go out and do something we can do that too.” I said.

Ava nodded, lifting her head, pecking my lips before she rolled off me, climbing out of bed. She came around to my side, extending her hand to me.

“Come on, Handsome.” She smiled.

I took her hand, getting to my feet. I pulled her into me, stealing another kiss before we headed into the kitchen. I was hoping she could eat something since she has not been eating the last couple of days. I grabbed everything I needed to get started on the soup that was something I could usually get her to eat so hopefully it will be the same this time.

“Can I help?” She asked.

I looked over my shoulder at her, smiling at her.

“No, you are OK sweetheart. Just relax, and I will get everything done.” I smiled.

She nodded, taking a seat. I could feel her watching me as I cooked. I hear her move and she soon appeared by my side, jumping up and sitting on the kitchen counter next to me. I looked at her, smiling.

“You alright?” I asked.

“Yes, fine. I just like watching you cook, you seem happy doing it,” She said sweetly.

I reached in, pecking her lips before getting back to making the soup. I could see her watching me closely, smiling as she did. I liked it when she looked at me that way.

“So what you wanna do for the rest of the day?” I asked her.

“Not sure. I don’t mind any ideas?” She asked.

I racked my brain for a few minutes.

“We could start the guitar lessons if you like? Or take the cameras out again?” I suggested.

She took a moment to think about it.

“I think the guitar lessons sound good and then you can show me the photos from your work trip. How was that?” She asked.

“Guitar lessons it is beautiful. It was incredible. I missed you, though.” I said, giving her knee a quick grab.

She blushed, turning away from me for a moment. She was too cute.

“I missed you too.” She whispered.

I stepped away from the cooker, turning the heat down and moving in front of her. I pushed her legs apart, standing in between them, resting my hand at each side of her. She slowly looked up at me, a shy smile on her lips.

“I think the next time I go away, you should come with me,” I said.

“Really?” She asked, surprised.

“Yes, really. I can show you the world Ava if you let me anyway.” I smiled.

“I don’t think you want me cramping your style somehow Dylan.” She said, sadly turning away from me again.

I placed my hand on her cheek, turning her around to look at me again.

“I do want that. I would love it if you came with me on my next trip.” I said.

“Why?” She asked.

“Cause I miss you when I am away, so if you were there, then I wouldn’t need to miss you,” I said.

“I will think about it,” She said, smiling.

I nodded, reaching in and kissing her softly once again. I was hoping she would decide to come on my next trip. I think seeing other places would do her good. I pulled her in for a quick hug before getting back to making food. I want to give her the best life I can in every way I can. I still had to make things official between us; we had not done that yet. I was hoping when I ask her; she will not freak and run out. Yes, we have become close these last ten days but putting actual labels on it adds more pressure, well that is what I think anyway.
